  "A couple of my plants died, even though all the rest survived. I contacted Jonathan to ask about this, and a couple of other random questions.

  Jonathan volunteered to come by and replace the dead plants at his own cost - now, that is excellent service!

  He's a very personable, calm, knowledgeable tradesman - what you need in this day and age!

  I would definately use his company again, and recommend his services."

  "Shame on you Jonathan! Do not use this landscaper. His workmanship was average at best, with short cuts taken and very poor finishing work, which meant that I have been left with a lot of this work to do myself. When I asked him to do this finishing, it was either 'not in the quote' or he would do, but charge me $45 an hour for his trouble. Excuse me, 'Not in the quote'? We twice went through the work to be done, and when you hire a professional (although Jonathan is obviously not one) you… expect a certain standard, and things to be built per building code. I have been left with a very dangerous, very high step by a front gate that will easily injure someone. I actually don't think Jonathan knows how to do this sort of job properly, his skill level appears to be very basic.
  
  Communication was terrible - at no time did he ask me if I wanted to keep any of the materials (and I had to purchase the pavers myself), and he threw everything out. See above comment re finishing to be done - I need these pavers and offcuts!! Jonathan, you work for the client - ask their permission first before you dispose of their property!
  
  At first the job seemed reasonably priced - not cheap, just reasonable, but with the hassles etc, there has been little value for money. His final bill came in much higher than his quote - Jonathan, by law you cannot charge more just because the job took you longer or you used more materials than you estimated. I did not argue about the bill, however I did try to discuss these other matters wtih Jonathan, to be met with a wall of silence.
  
  At least Jonathan arrived to do the job when he said he would, however the rating is affected by the fact that he will not come back and actually finish the work!
  
  Once again, shame on you Jonathan. You should not be in business."

  "This client has made many untrue and misleading statements in the above posting. 1.Upon finishing the job the client was present. She thanked me for my professional service and for doing a good job. 2.The client was present during the building of the step mentioned above. I showed her the finished height and she gave her approval. 3.The client then started to send email complaints about the height of the step and made other accusing and abusive remarks. 4.The client chose to buy the pavers herself in an effort to save money, she was in no way forced to do so as she implies above. The pavers she chose had different installation guidelines to the ones quoted for, which she was made aware of. 5.Any difference between the quoted price and the invoice was due to the client's various additions and changes to the job during the work including her choice in pavers. 6.In regards to the paving off cuts that the client refers to, it is standard practice to dispose of unusable debris from a worksite. All full pavers left over from the job were neatly stacked at the back of her house. 7.The client sent emails that were clearly provocative and accusing. “The wall of silence” the client mentions above refers to me not responding to two of her emails, in an attempt to avoid arguing with her. 8. At no time have we refused to do work at the clients home. However after the clients defamatory comments above I very much doubt we will be going back. "
