    "We cannot rate Darren Holland and his team more highly. We embarked on a fairly major renovation of our villa with the aim of creating the home we want to live in for decades to come. Being an old villa there were a few surprises along the way.
    Darren understood that we wanted a quality product for our future but also that our pockets had limits so for us to keep our budget under control we would have to make some compromises. He was great at helping us with decisions on the non-negotiables… and items we could compromise on without impacting our end product.

    Darren was the absolute opposite of all the nightmare-ish builder stories you hear - he's reliable, 100% transparent and up-front, solutions and quality focused and cares about the outcome of each step in the process, not to mentioned skilled at his craft. He wasn't afraid to voice his opinion which we valued immensely. He also cottoned onto some of our likes/dislikes and always made useful suggestions and contributions throughout the process. Darren managed all the sub-contractors, except for one, and all his guys were top quality and we would use them again for maintenance jobs - in fact already have.

    I have lost count of the number of times I have recommended Darren (and his subbies) to friends. People often ask if our renovation was a nightmare and stressful and it really wasn't - Holland Construction were a huge factor in this.

    Darren and his team are hard workers who we trusted implicitly. They all had the added bonus of being genuinely nice people to have around (they would carry my wine deliveries inside for me...) and were exceptionally patient with our mad dog and five year old daughter! We wish Holland Construction the very best for the future.    "

    "We have recently had an extensive renovation of our property done by Holland Construction. Darren was first class at all aspects of the work. When there were any complications with the work Darren got straight on to solving the problem so there was no hanging about. He was very good at making suggestions to help with costs or timetable. I have no hesitation in recommending Holland Construction."

    "We enlisted Darren from Holland Construction and his earlier this year to complete a rather extensive renovation to our property. The renovation was certainly not straight forward. We have a 1920s bungalow and the renovation was over 2 stories, with limited site access and had considerable engineering involved.

    We had two of Darren’s team, Dylan and Dan working on the project every day, with the ability to call in more of Darren’s crew if necessary. Both Dan and Dylan were very… considerate and polite and friendly to our 4 year old. The project was over a 3 month period and we decided not to move out during the project. Since I was in the later stages of pregnancy, the project had a clear deadline, which was met.

    At each sage Darren involved us in any decisions or changes that had not already been discussed. He communicated very well with external surveyors, engineers, council inspectors, etc and we felt at each stage of the renovation that he had our best interests at heart and his solutions were practical and cost effective.

    We had great confidence in Darren and our trust was well placed. Our renovation went off without a hitch and we are very pleased with the outcome.

    I highly recommended Holland Construction to anyone who is looking for a technically astute, well experienced, straight up and honest builder.

    "Darren and his team did a fabulous job on a renovation - building a garage, extra room, substantially changing joinery, flooring, decking and some internals. The workmanship was fantastic, communication excellent and billing clear and transparent. Darren is a very smart builder who is a great problem solver and an excellent project manager. He is dilligent and has very high standards. I would not hesitate to recommend him or use him again! "

    "Darren built us a 19 sq metre deck in a very low profile area in the winter which was always going to be difficult project The finished job looks fantastic and was completed in a quicker time than I would have imagined and within the time frame Darren specified. A+ for this job."

    "Darren Holland undertook a major renovation of our property that involved converting an ex State-House of 75sqm into a modern 4 bedroom home of 235sqm.

    Darren was recommended to us by our Architect Paul Spooner, as Darren had also renovated his house. Darren project managed our build. Whilst we still had many decisions to make in terms of the interior fittings and expressing opinions on options during the build, Darren’s project management meant that the whole experience of house… building / renovating for us was very enjoyable and stress free. The issuance of Code of Compliance was also straightforward on what had been a long and complex combination of new build and renovation of an older home.

    We can fully recommend Darren’s work which is of best quality, efficient and well considered with attention to detail and appearance. Also of note are Darren’s good contacts in the industry. This is particularly important when selecting sub-contractors – he knows who will do a good job and whether the price offered is reasonable. Darren is also fair to the owner, looking after their best interests and he takes ownership of issues as if it were his own house being built. Darren can also balance and explain the cost and benefits of options during a build and has the mindset to understand the owner’s needs and budget and accordingly provide advice to arrive at the best decision. We could have not asked for, or we doubt would have been able to find a better builder for our project.    "

    "Darren and his team have pride in their work.They all strive to do and be the best.Quality is evident throughout the major re-cladding and extensions to our St Heliers home.The team hold all sub-trades people to the same high standard.A ring every Sunday evening meant we were up with progress.     "After interviewing numerous builders, we employed Holland Construction (Darren) to undertake a major renovation of our Waterfront property in Devonport. Because Darren had previous experience as a quantity surveyor he was able to give us a very accurate estimate of the build costs as part of the quoting process, - ( something many builders struggle with ). Darren and his team worked very hard on this project putting in long hours to ensure the house was watertight prior to the Christmas… shutdown - something which we highly appreciated . Because of the scale of the renovation we were required to move out of the house for several months, and it is worth noting our neighbors where also impressed with Darren and his team’s attention to detail, courteousness and work ethic. Clearly on a large project there will be unforeseen problems – Darren and his team solved these in their stride with no drama whatsoever.

    Overall I feel I was extremely lucky to have enlisted Darren’s help on our project, particularly in terms of getting the project done on time ( actually slightly ahead of time ) and on budget. If you have the opportunity to work with Holland construction I’d grab it with both hands    "

    "We employed Holland Construction (Darren) to undertake a major renovation of our 1949 brick and tile home in Bayswater, Auckland. Many builders we initially contacted were unwilling to even quote the job due to its complexity. Luckily we were told to contact Darren by friends who had worked with him in the past. Our remodel was never going to be an easy task, we added on to the front and the back, effectively building two new straight houses and tying them into one old wonky one with four… different floor levels under one roof. Darren was awesome to work with and we could not recommend him more highly. He oversaw the entire project, including the drainage. As Darren already had another major construction project ongoing at the time, most of the carpentry work was subcontracted to Kent Michalick. Kent is also a superb builder, whom we would highly recommend. Darren ensured that we met Kent in advance of signing the contract and suggested that we check Kent’s references as well as his own—all of which were excellent. The job was scheduled to take 6 months and it only ran 3 weeks over schedule. Our build started right in the middle of winter. There was not a single day when work on our home stopped due to weather. Something we found very admirable, and which the neighbours commented on regularly. Darren’s team were detail focused, forward thinking, and were not afraid to get right into the muck and get the job done.

    Darren was informative about options, extremely responsive, and budget conscious. He came across as being focused on producing good quality work and on making sure that his clients are happy with the results. We also found him to be a clear communicator, honest and conscientious, and he came complete with a sense of humour. We would be more than happy to elaborate on this reference, just ask him for our number. Darren is also a quantity surveyor, so he will know if you give away any old bricks!

    "In deciding on a builder for our villa renovation we were impressed by the previous reports on Holland Construction at NOCOWBOYS. Our experience with Darren and his team over a 5 month project exceeded our hopes. They were honest, reliable, competent, thorough and very considerate of us owners living on site.     "This renovation was a constantly evolving project involving numerous changes to the original plan, however at no time did this phase Darren or his team. We found him to be extremely forthright and honest at all times, even to the extent of reminding us of our budget and often providing alternative solutions. His relationship with all of the subcontractors put us at ease as we knew we were always getting value for money without any compromise on quality. While there was only a general budget… for this job, the result was better than we ever expected while surprisingly working out less expensive than we anticipated. We would have no hesitation in recommending Holland Construction to anyone contemplating any construction project."

    "Darren and his team have just completed a major renovation of our Devonport home, they are an awesome bunch to deal with and the project has been a pleasure, even though we have lived onsite for the full 5 months it has taken to complete. The project has come in under budget for their labour and on time. If you are looking for an honest, highly professional and understanding builder who is happy to roll with the punches as you make changes to the plans, and never gets ruffled and always… obliges with a smile, then Darren is your best bet for a builder. He may have more grey hair as a result of my project, but I don't! I highly recommend Holland Construction's work. Diana Miller"

    "Darren came to the preconstruction meeting prepared and started our addition as planned. The work was performed to a high standard by a courteous team of builders, and as we lived in the house during the addition, they were very respectful of our privacy and managed the build to minimise disruptions. The work was completed within the agreed time frame and came in under budget. I would happily use Darren for my next build.
