The work was done promptly, and the standard of work was good. Handy1 were able to offer a very competitive price and to complete the job without any delay. He does provide a great service - and his trades people are generally good. The builder and carpet layers did an excellent job. However I think he may have been let down with sub contractors on another job as it took several weeks to get a quote. I would have preferred if we were told "look, we can't help you with that job at this stage - i don't have anyone to quote on it"
The costs he has provided for all projects have been in line with what i was expecting - however I have learned over the years to provide people with a ballpark budget which obviously helps!
I found Mike to be knowledgeable, a great communicator and someone who understands the needs of busy people who can't always take time out to choose carpet or check on work progress. We would use him again for our rental house, for sure."

Barbra says: "I decided to use Handy1 because of all the fantastic feedback they had on this website. I phoned them on a Monday for some plumbing and roofing work I needed done. I asked if someone would be able to come around on the Thursday or Friday to have a look as I had these two days off work and I would be home.
I was told that a plumber would be in contact with me to organise a time and they would organise someone to look at the roof as well. I left all my details and waited for someone to contact me. The gentleman I spoke to (Mike) was pleasant enough on the phone however I haven't heard anything from them since. I would never recommend them or use them again. I tried four different companies before I finally got someone who came out within two hours of my phone call. Really, what does it take to find a decent tradesperson these days, let alone one that will even return your call? Maybe they just don't need the work."

He enabled us to turn a proft in this slow market. Other experts coming through the property commented 'keep these guys on, they know what they are doing'. Mike would phone me with a proposal that had only just started to formulate in my head. I realised I would never get contractors to turn up the way HandyOne did, and the job could have gone on much longer and cost much more. No-one was ever late, they were even on site doing extra after hours. It was a 'no problem, you want it - you've got it ... and have you thought about this?' kind of relationship. Stephen arrived on time to provide a quote and from there Handy 1 arranged for the scaffolding company to set everything up for the job. Handy 1 were the only company I contacted who were able to get a reasonable quote for the scaffolding. Other companies were able to provide quotes for the painting but they could not get a scaffolding company to work with them.

Mike organised for Brendan to contact us re the hot water cupboard. Brendan made contact with us and came to work at the organised time.
Mike was meant to come the same day and quote on the bathroom he never did.
Over the Easter break I emailed Mike re making a new appointment for the bathroom quote, he said he'd ring the week after Easter to organise a time one evening for the quote. This never happened.
We "booked" Brendan in, through Mike, to build our Hotwater cupboard, all correspondence was done via email, so that there would be no confusion with dates and times. Brendan arrived one week early, despite the emails Mike had got the date completely wrong. Luckily for us Brendan was understanding and able to come back the next week. Mike took about 3 days to reply back to me (even after a phone call chasing him) to confirm that Brendan was able to come on the date as previously confirmed.
Brendan did a good job with our hot water cupboard. But I was left with the feeling that because we were West Auckland residents our bathroom renovation wasn't even worth quoting on.
Despite Brendans good job, I was left with a sour taste in my mouth after this and won't be using Handy 1 again, which is disappointing as I only contacted the company after seeing the great feedback on this web site."

We were really impressed with the results of the painting of the exterior of the house. We had an unusual roof paint request that these guys went out and found for us ( tile like colour on a tin roof) the match to what was in my mind was spot on. (FYI - The colour you pick can look completely different on Tin then on wood as we found out - but still love it :o) .We felt very secure with the guys at our house when we were not home, very friendly and trustworthy. They made our Garage look almost brand new - when we were not expecting it too... rusty and right back to tin, but they did an amazing job. We found that they took the job personally, wanting to make sure everything looked perfect. Would definitely not hesitate to use these guys again. Our deck was in such a state that it was all torn down and we added another 8 square metres while we were at it. The work carried out was brilliant, a lot of thought went into what they were doing at each stage. We felt very secure having them working at our house while we were not at home, very trustworthy friendly workers. There were areas (through no fault of their own) that we were not happy with and they were very understanding and fixed it up so that we were happy with it. Linda says: "We were given a price for the job and then re-negotiated. The quality of the painting work was not good. We had to have the painter come back to rectify some issues.
When I discussed the poor quality of the work, I was told that it was due to the reduction in the original price we had negotiated!
We were also charged for additional work that was not picked up on the original quote ... fair enough, however, when you are charged a ridiculous rate for putting a piece of skirting board ... not good."
