We moved a 4 brm home and garage from Karaka to North Shore and even though an onsite quote was not possible given the distance, Shane did a great job of getting all the required information over a 15 minute detailed phone call. Booked over email with a professional approach to it all, movers and truck turned up on time and Shane was spot on with him recommendation for truck size as we managed to get it all in one load. The two English guys were excellent and took good care of every detail - Danny was a true champ! Job completed within estimate with no damage! We've moved using a number of local and international companies before and I can say this has been one of the best experiences. Worth every penny!"

  Big Jim says: "I required moving from my location near Ponsonby to my new house on North Shore with speed a priority. I contacted a number of rival companies but I either had to leave voicemails or the number rang out for most of them. Shane answered quickly and even phoned *me* back after my line cut out. The move was arranged for 40hrs later which left me packing up what I could on my free day before the lads came promptly on Sunday morning. Although they were hardly All Black physique, what they lacked in body size they made up for in work rate, packing ability and most importantly CUSTOMER SERVICE. The two I had were both in their twenties and had no complaints about having to be carrying sofas and fridges at 8am on a weekend! Great experience, great service and great move. Don't need to look anywhere else!"

  Lyndsay says: "Quotes were speedy, came and did a site appraisal first, which gave me great peace of mind and was flexible as to when he could come and view. Very helpful, courteous and accurate. We used them to pack on the Friday and move on the Saturday and all the team were hard working, prompt, polite, and delightful to work with. Only slight comment would be to look at doing something about the outside of the truck where it has been 'tagged'... not a great look. However this has nothing to do with the actual move and I would used IMOVE again without question (although we hope not to have to for a long time!). cheers and thanks"

  Shaun says: "Great company and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending their services to others. They were thoroughly professional to deal. They were the first company to respond to my email enquiry - Shane was literally on the phone minutes after I email them - agreed a time and carried out an onsite inspection the same afternoon. He had taken the time to bring along quotes from a number of storage companies to present during the inspection and even managed a discount for us from Storage King. Now that's what I call initiative. We did get a few quotes later on but they were the clear choice. The moving team led Mark was excellent as well. On time and very courteous, they took their time ensuring nothing got wet or damaged. I particularly liked their attention to our walls in the rental property - the last movers cost us $200 to repair a dent they had made. Overall, good rates and excellent value. If you are looking for a highly professional team and if communication is important then there is no better choice. Would surely use them again in 2 months when we are moving again!"

  Bryce says: "This company is a complete rip-off. They estimated the job at just over $2000 after having scoped the site etc. The eventual bill came to nearly $4000. They left furniture behind (and then charged us to go and get it), broke furniture and lost several things. When we contested the bill (they estimated 10 hours to do it and it took 20), they dropped the bill by $200. I would never use these people again and advise that you stay well away from them "

Shane on behalf of iMove Team replies: "Laura B. requested us to provide an onsite assessment for her house pack and move. She later told us that out of a number of removal companies she contacted, only a few had bothered to assess the drop-off site. We were one of the few prudent companies which did. Here are the facts: 1) The driveway at the drop-off site in Tanekaha had one of the worst access we had come across and we made it clear from the outset that no truck could ever go up there. Being on a narrow street with a tight bend just around the corner, I advised her that a medium truck would be the best option. I made it clear that it would be a long day moving involving a number of trips and the whole load would have to be carried from street level up her 60 metre driveway. 2) We forwarded her a written estimate clearly outlining our hourly pricing structure for 3 moving men, including travel charges. We ESTIMATED around 10 hours for the move only, and half a day for packing. We also arranged insurance for her at no commission. 3) The packing team managed to accomplish their task as estimated but they did comment to me at the end of their day that the customer was quite disorganised and gave very little direction. 4) A few things didn’t go the customer’s way on the moving day – Friday 24th June. a) Firstly, when our truck arrived at Tanekaha Road to drop off its first load, we were denied access by the seller’s lawyers as the settlement hadn’t gone thru. It took nearly 4 hours for the banks to manage that which added to the move time and was not our fault. b) Secondly, it ended up raining torrentially all throughout the day thus making the driveway very risky as it had moss all over it. To emphasize just how risky it was, Laura herself told our moving men that the seller’s car had slipped off the driveway into a ditch whilst they were moving out – and had to be crane-lifted out. This slowed the moving men down significantly as they had to maintain their safety as well as the furniture they were carrying up 60 metres. 5) Laura and her husband have witnessed first-hand our team working from 9.30 am on the 24th till 2 am on Saturday 25th – and then back later on from 9.15 am till 2 pm on same day. A lot of time was also spent on shuffling furniture within the house as the client couldn’t make up her mind. 6) On Tuesday 28th, we sent our 4 men to deliver her piano free of charge and waived $250. 6) There was absolutely NO DAMAGES and Laura has neither mentioned this to me or the moving team on the day or made any claims from the insurance company. I would like her to prove this otherwise. 7) A week and a half after the move was carried out, I received the first call from her saying she wasn’t happy about the bill as it was my fault for under-estimating the job. She seems to have a nonsensical idea that I should be held responsible for the bank delays and the bad weather which I should have foreseen through my crystal ball a month ago when I carried out the onsite inspection. I tried talking sense to her and agreed to discount $200 as she seemed to think it was the men’s fault for forgetting something behind at 2 am on Saturday. She also mentioned a missing child’s stool and trampoline leg – I immediately followed this up with the moving men and they pointed out the whereabouts of these 2 items at the new house. She agreed with the bill. 8) Later that day. Laura emailed us claiming her lawyer has asked her to pay a fair price which was half of the bill. We decline this as our terms of service are clear; the men have carried out honest and hard work and it’s ended up longer than ESTIMATED through no fault of our own. 9) Laura’s husband decided to put up negative feedback calling us a rip-off. No word of thanks, and bill has now been paid in full - thank God at least their lawyers had some common sense."

  Sylvia says: "First time using movers since I've lived in my house for over 25 years. We had some tricky items such as an "ancient" grandfather clock and an upright piano. Shane had recommended 3 guys and had estimated around 6-8 hours (we had 2 decades of junk!) and the guys were spot on 7 hours which was a delight. All in all, no damage (save a succulent plant which got slightly uprooted but they warned us of this) and very happy with the service! "

Arrived and quickly started loading using every inch of space...it was a 4 bedroom house so any let down on packing might have cost us 2 trips but thank god they knew what they were doing...overall I'm very happy I used this company and fully support the rest of the customer feedbacks I have read so far. "

  Asela says: "I have been invited by I-Move Relocations to leave a feedback on this site for a move which they carried out earlier today. I am delighted that we engaged them to carry out our move. We moved a 2 bedroom house, nursery, office and garage from Wadestown to Kapiti Coast. They worked diligently without breaks even though access wasn't the best at our old place. Best of all, the two guys were really polite and helpful to deal with which was fabulous since my wife was a bit stressed out being in the late stage of her pregnancy. They didnt even mind taking shoes off at our new place since we had new carpets just installed. Thanks once again guys. You really are good at what you do."

  Mary says: "We required them to move just the furniture in our office to a new office. They took 3.5 hours to load the truck and get to the new office 3 blocks away. It seemed suspicious to us that loading that was unsupervised took so long. It took less than one hour to move the same stuff up to the new suite. On arrival several pieces were severely damaged and I was referred to the website to hear that it was "move at your own risk". I would have thought that you could expect any moving company to exercise reasonable care or to front up to any mistakes causing damage. I am told it was an accident and they just do not know how it happened. . In fact, the two people I called for estimates on repair said that they have never seen the like of the scratches. I would recommend finding someone else if you care for your furniture."

Shane replies: "We were tasked with office removal for this client, moving from Brandon Street to Featherston street. Here is what our staff working onsite had to say: 1) The customer left the old office 5 mins after the guys arrived so she had no way of knowing how efficient the guys were. Not only did the guys have to disassemble all of the office desks, they had to carry several large pieces down 6 flights of stairs, and then walk around 80 metres to where our truck was suitably parked. 2) Even though we provide a complete packing and moving service, the customer only request us to move the furniture. None of the items were packed when the guys arrived. 3) Transit insurance cover had not been pre-arranged thru us and terms of service had been made available to the customer during the booking. It clearly states that all "moves are carried out at owner's risk", 4) Contrary to what the customer has posted on NoCowBoys, only ONE large desk sustained some scratches which is quite unfortunate and was probably due to some rubbing while in the truck. It had a soft veneer finish so should really have been packed as they scratch easy. We have email communication to prove this as well (customer initially spoke of two items but only forward photos of one when requested). 5) We are sympathetic towards the damaged and offered our assistance in the claims process with THEIR insurer. Unfortunately their insurance company declined the claim stating that no specific transit insurance was in place. 6) As per our terms of service which were provided prior to the move, customer ought to have known we required payment on completion by either cheque or cash. Customer claimed no knowledge of this and claimed that she didnt have her cheque book. Bank account details were forwarded via email the next day. It is 10 days since the move and WE ARE STILL AWAITING PAYMENT!! Thank you for your time reading thru this but we also had to get the FACTS across. We are proud of the service we provide and it was unfortunate that one of the items did get scratches in this instance. Three words of advice: 1) Ultimately, if its valuable to you, get it PACKED (no matter how good the movers are, this will eliminate risk). 2) Sort our your insurance PRIOR to your move. 3) Pay your bills on time. Everyone has mouths to feed, including believe it or not - Movers. "

Out of 5 companies which we contacted, only 2 even bothered to come out and view our property and houselot - iMOVE being one of them. We eventually chose iMove as their professionalism was miles ahead of the other company, and I am glad we did. No damages whatsoever and the guys were very adept - didnt even take a break until we practically force fed them pies! Much appreciated and would surely recommend them if you're looking at moving."

Shane responded promptly to our initial email with a phone call and was helpful to come around and view our furniture and driveway before the move. Boys arrived at sharp 8.00 am on Saturday morning (we feared they would have cancelled the job due to the storm). They managed to park the truck right at our front door so nothing got wet at all. Had lots of blankets on the truck and nothing got damaged. I'd specially like to point our that the boys were extremely well mannered and helpful as Shane had promised. Very well done and would surely use these guys again if we ever move. "

I was very disappointed with the service provided: 1) booked for 0930, arrived at 1400 2) phoned and texted several times to advise that they were running late, but didn't keep to their new estimated timeline 3) on last text before arriving at the location, texted to advise that they would let me know when they left their last site - this did not occur. When I got the call, I advised that I would be there in 15 mins which they said was fine. I raced to get there and then received a text to say that they would be 20 mins as they had gone to get a bite to eat. 4) the movers were pleasant guys who packed & loaded my goods and unloaded in reasonable time. 5) when unloading started, it had started to rain. I asked them if they had dropsheets as I had carpets in my new place or if I needed to put down drop sheets etc. They asked me to put down the drop sheets. 6) my fridge which I had cleaned earlier in the morning was soiled with black marks when It arrived and a little table got scratch marks in the move 7) at the end of the move, the 2 guys advised that they were both on their working holidays - not exactly the professional moving service that I expected when I booked the service. Unfortunately, I would not use this moving service again."

Shane replies: "Shane says: We accept that we did run delays for your move and you were informed at 8.00 am that morning that there was likelihood of significant delays due to a larger than expected move prior to yours. This is an unfortunate reality that all moving companies come across quite frequently and something which is really beyond our control, i.e., when customers misrepresent the amount of items to be moved. At least 6 updates were provided via calls and text messages from both myself and the driver - Jay. They arrived onsite to find no one present and Jay called to find what was happening. You advised him that you were 15 mins away and he advised you that they would be back after a quick lunch. You were fine with this and didn't have a problem with any of the delay up to that point. Shortly upon their return, they guys got to work and quickly completed the job within 1.5 hours (2 bedroom house). According to Jay, you asked if it was going to be fine if you put down your drop sheets on the carpet and he said it wasn't going to be a problem (it was a rainy Saturday). As for point (6) which you have made - it is not unusual at all for smudge marks on whiteware to happen. The guys didn't note any damages or scratches on that day and you didn't advise them of this on completion either - ultimately, it was your responsibility to wrap/package and not any part of our contract. As a side note, whilst we do have around 25-30 blankets on every truck, this is no substitute for appropriate wrapping/packaging for fragile furniture. In regards to point (7), both Jay and Kevin are on 12 month working holiday visa. Jay has had 3 years of professional furniture removal experience in the UK/ Australia and Kevin has had 2 years professional furniture removal experience in various states of the US. They are also both highly efficient, respectable and polite men who reflect the values of our company. They are legally allowed to work in the country, are a great asset to our company and will continue to remain so for the remainder of their working holiday visa."

We hired 3 guys for the move and all were very efficient and careful at the same time. You just had to observe them for a couple of seconds to realise they really knew what they were doing like maneuvering the large double refrigerator or the long lounge suite through the narrow halls!! Extremely friendly and hardworking bunch! A"

  Grace says: "Shane and Alex turned up at sharp 9 last Sunday morning as promised. This was quite important for us as we had childcare arrangements for that day. Move went smoothly and the guys are really efficient. Since we had a shared and very narrow driveway, the poor buggers had to park their truck around 200 metres away but they did not mind at all. Whilst we initially had expected a stressful moving day, the guys put us to easy quickly when we noticed how careful they were with our stuff. Really careful not to hit any corners or walls and very skillful with maneuvering our leather couch through our doorway.   Dian says: "I had to call them to ask where they were as they were coming late; and he tried to charge us an extra 8 minutes for when they were lost and couldn't find our townhouse. However, this was solve, I thought it was a bit unfair if we have to pay for the time when they were lost and they were fine with it and we quickly moved our stuff. The service and quality of work was great, they were really careful with our stuff. They were also able to fit in our futon frame through the narrow hallway into the bedroom, which I thought was impressive. It was also raining on Saturday 17th July 2010 and they asked us whether we wanted to continue or not. When we said we would like to continue, they keep working and moved all our stuff. We also asked them to remove their shoes when entering the carpeted area of the house and they were happy to do so, so I was pleased and very happy with that. They also asked where to put our stuff in and keep checking with us. They don't mind to move heavy stuff around the house as well. I would definitely use them again next time because they work hard, did not stop and good value for money. They are also friendly, nice and smile a lot, which I thought was nice as it could be very stressful to move between houses."

Shane and his team did an outstanding job of packaging our valuables and other random items. All our furniture were wrapped in proper packaging upon request even to the tiny details of wrapping the armchair legs and the whole process of packing and relocating was streamlined for us. The actual move day was one of the worst this winter with it being wet everywhere. What I really liked was how the guys through some protective material on the floor in order to save the carpets. Great touch of ingenuity! Good experience and will recommend to all."

We were amazed by the efficiency and attention to detail of the packers and movers and the boys took real care with our oak furniture which we are trully grateful for. They were then 45 minutes late for that time. Although they assured us they had blankets to pack things safely, they managed to badly scratch a book case. They brought an extra person and then tried to charge for them as well. I will not be using these people again. "

Shane replies: "I find your rating completely unjustified Michael. I personally rang you an hour before start time of 10.am to advise that the allocated truck was going to be delayed at the previous job (due to that particular customer not advising us of the 80 steps involved at the pickup site compounded with the wet weather we were having in Wellington that particular day). I suggested an alternative time of 2 pm and you were meant to call back after discussing with your wife. I rang again a few mins later to offer another alternative time of 11 am with another truck of mine, but you insisted that 2 pm was going to work well. I rang you at 1.30 pm to advise that we were on our way and that I was bringing along a third guy to speed things up - you were fine with this. We arrived spot on at 2 pm and carried on with loading. I was asked about the blankets and I advised that we had some, and commenting that none of the furniture were packed and therefore at customers risk. You and your wife were fine with this once again. At the unloading site, the guys and I were more than accommodating with all your requests. I hope you still remember how the 3 of us carried all your furniture over your neighbours fence and over your unfinished deck (with over 200 exposed nail tops at risk of our safety) with absolutely no damage to either furniture or your newly completed house. At the time of completion, you did not point out any such damages which you are claiming in your review. When I explained the charges, I was shocked to hear that you did not want to pay for the third guy especially since you okayed this and here was a chap who had just worked in the rain for you for the last 3 hours. After reasoning with you for a few times and failing, I only charged you for 2 guys. You also didnt have the payment ready as we clearly state cash on completion as a payment option. I wasnt going to inconvenience you as I understood that you had to go back to your 3 kids and wife and carry on unpacking - hence I accepted your cheque. The least I was expecting was a fairer review of how earnestly we carried out your move."

The job was done in less than an hour and a half, however I was inexplicably charged for two and a quarter hours. Also I waited half an hour after the stated time they would arrive for pick up to receive a call advising me that they would be another half hour. Our charges consisted of the minimun 1.5 hours for Saturday plus travel charge to and from Tawa. I had thought that I had made it clear at the time of payment. Sorry for any confusion."
