He helped me through a very difficult ordeal as the previous mechanic I had taken my vehicle to had murdered my car to the extent of causing expensive damage and refused to take ownership of what he had done. As I have a sick mother at home who is fully dependant on myself being without a vehicle I was unable to take my mother to required appointments. I came across Grant while I was calling other mechanics to in order to get a second opinion. Zabeen says: "In the past i have always been ripped off by mechanics alot especially in regards to my car sometimes either spending way too much money than i should or job not being done properly and i guess main reason was that i was a female and had no knowledge about mechanical side of things. but by chance when i was referred to grant by hyper in penrose 2 n half years ago since than he not only has saved me so much money with maintenance and repairing but grant always goes out of his way in making sure i have a courtesy car to use for work as im a self employed courier driver and gets the car fixed as soon as. There has never been a time where a job needed to be done twice or that i would spend more than i should at grants workshop. Thanks heaps Grant and sharon u totally rock. "

I initially went to Midas in mid 2011as they are based close to work. He checked the problem with my car for free and when it was a specialist transmission problem he referred me to someone who could fix it (and even organised a great price from them). He even then lent me a courtesy car while mine was in for repairs with the transmission specialist! I've since had my WOF & a service with Midas and will definitely use them every time in the future. Grant always goes the extra mile & even drops my car back off to me at work. It's great to see so many other positive reviews about this business."

Sarah says: "I first dealt with Grant last year when I was having a problem with another mechanic and needed a second opinion. I sought him out based on his great ratings on here. It wasn't until a year later that I needed his services but he remembered me. Midas Onehunga performed a service on my car in addition to a wheel alignment, rotation & balance, and rear brakes replaced as instructed by me. Time and cost were all good and no nasty surprises. The next day the wheel rims on my car were failed by an independant testing station. This lead me straight back to Midas where they really went the extra mile to 1) explain why the anomolies had occurred in the first place (between one professional saying my wheels were ok and another professional saying they were not), 2) giving me options on how to fix the problem, 3) sourcing replacement parts for me at cost and 4) swapping them out for me at no charge. Grant was acutely aware of my bad experience last year and given the rim failure, he worked hard to make it as painfree as possible. There was nothing for Grant to gain by what he did (other than a life-long customer) so for this reason I think the company he runs is very reliable and trustworthy. I know its not usually considered 'best practice' to have WOF inspection AND repair done by the same party, but given my experience of being at the peril of the different perspectives of industry professionals, I will in future have all my car work done by Midas Onehunga. They provide a great service with no surprises. Thanks again Grant & Sharon and see you in 6 months for my next WOF :)"

Every now and then you come across people/service that you want to recommend to all your mates. Our experience with Grant and his team at Midas Onehunga has been just that.
On recommendation from a motor-enthusiast work colleague, we took our Honda in for repair. Grant identified the problem quickly, and recommended the best/cheapest form of repair (relating to a stuffed catalytic converter). Got the car back and runs like a dream, and it was a very economical repair cost.
Have since taken my 5 Series BMW in for a servive and a couple of niggly errors fixed - all done expertly and economically - way cheaper than the dealer workshops, and to be honest, I trust him a lot more with my car.
It is not surprising there are so many Five Star responses for these guys - you won't be disappointed dealing with Grant and his team.

I am in a customer service job myself and so am pretty observant when it comes to how a customer is treated. I saw Sharon on my first visit, who was lovely, friendly and chatty. They gave me a coffee voucher to a cafe close by while I waited for them to source me a tire, (for a great price!!). The service was professional yet comfortable and easy going, they made you feel welcome. I then took my car in for a warrant, and had excellent service from Grant, great guy, sense of humour, very personable, and straight up. Even though I passed my WOF, he made sure I was aware of things I need to watch out for with my car, being an old model, He gave me a courtesy car to take to work which was great, awesome customer service. Paul says: "Very happy with the job Midas did. I was quoted $750 from somewhere else to fix the brakes to pass a WOF, which Midas happily delivered for less than $450. To put the icing on the cake they even took my car to pass the WOF without me asking.
Would definitely recommend, my only regret is not taking it to them in the first place to save me the $45 inspection fee from the other place.

I read the reviews on No Cowboys website a few years back…thinking “whatever”, I seriously thought I would be the one writing the “1” bad review for Midas…oh…how wrong I was. BECAUSE PEOPLE I cannot thank Midas Onehunga enough for the GREAT service they gave me …would cry right now but I’m just sooo happy :) to have my little car going again!! Wooohooo. Grant and Sharon are “O” for Awesome!!! Serious!!! When my car got towed to their yard (9am ish), Grant and Paul (other mechanic) assessed and figured out what was wrong (last mechanic job :( ). Grant was was even talking mechanic talk that I could understand (amazing), (funny guy too), I got told to hang around while it was being fixed (in my mind I was thinking, what That never happens!! from bad past experiences), so Paul (great asset to the company – its alright you don’t have to thank me if you get a pay rise cause of this) fixes what was wrong, while the lovely Sharon and I were talking away. So by the time I left the place it was around 10am ish (are you kidding me!!!), and I didn’t even have to pay the exorbitant prices!!! Phew prayers answered!!! Sorry for the novel…but PEOPLE, SERIOUSLY, GO TO MIDAS ONEHUNGA, don’t be a dummy like me that wasted money on those other cowboys that call themselveS ... mechanics!! "

I was quoted $800 something to get the radiator fixed at my regular mechanic and luckily I held off getting it fixed and didn't drive it for awhile. Finally needed to get it fixed and found NoCowboys site and thought I'd try out Midas as it wasn't far from where I usually take my car... Grant not only kept close to the initial quote which was the upper $300 but also fixed wonky batter terminals FREE and when I got home I discovered that they had bolted a loose part of the bumper so that I didn't need the home repair job of duct tape anymore.
Grant takes the time to explain, what has been done and why, and also what to look out for regarding the repair on the car. Excellent service, honest and genuine repairs.
I'm going back for a full service and taking the other halfs car to be warranted and serviced there soon.

He is all about being straight up and building a relationship with you as a customer. I was told that the rust in my Ford Falcon was not worth fixing. I took it to Grant who laughed at what I was told and then quoted me approx $500 to patch it. Less than $500 and a WOF later, I had my car back in working order. Very handy to have courtesy car also. Car was ready to go excatly when they said. The only things to fault was a couple of grease marks on the upholstery, easy enough to come out but perhaps take better care moving in and out of the car during work, and the air freshner used in the car was a bit strong. Lee says: "After reading the reviews for Midas on this site I decided to try for myself. I booked my vehicle in to see if they could help with a recent oil leak that had started. Good sign started with the friendly polite receptionist on the phone who booked me in promptly and cheerfully. Met with Grant and explained the problem which I had been told by another mechanic could mean serious expensive work required. Grant told me to leave it with them to take a look at and I left in a courtesy car they supplied (another bonus). I had only really been home a couple of hours and Grant was on the phone with the solution for the oil leak. I went back over to collect the vehicle and they had taken it for a test drive, observed it at the shop while running and found the problem, which was relatively minor to fix. I was then astounded when Grant told me that there would be no charge for this as they wanted to ensure that the oil leak had been fixed and wouldn't return and what they had done to fix it was relatively minor. Although there were no major parts that they used to fix it, they would have spent time testing and observing. I was highly impressed and will continue to have all my vehicles serviced at Midas Onehunga - even though it's not really local to where I live, it's worth the drive. I've recommended them to all my friends and family - in particular my Mother who is older and on her own now that my father is permanently in a rest home and feel completely confident that she will receive outstanding service from Midas. Thanks Grant and the Midas Team - you deserve all the positive feedback."

Anita says: "Hi there everyone.....I was looking for help online too .cos I was quoted a hefty amount on my car repairs by another company, who had a list of things that needed doing on my car. I drove all the way from Manukau to check out what everyone has been raving about ....and I can see that everyone is right ...he is a really great guy, who is fair in his prices and does a really good job. I arrived there and instead of having to wait around for the repairs ..he let me use his courtesy car ....until my repairs on my car was fixed. And I had left the steering wheel cover in the car ..cos I had been trying to fit it on the steering wheel ....all morning to no avail ..and Grant kindly put it on for me....he really goes out of his way ....When taking my car to other mehcanics to be fixed ..I get ripped off and and charged the sky for minor repairs...and who knows if these botch up mechanics from other places take out engine parts ...just so that you can come back in for another repair........but Grant was fair very honest and trustworthy and guess what I even got back change to buy bread and milk....never ever happened to me before....so everyone out there .....give Grant a go .you won't be disappointed. He's very understanding and has excellent customer services. I wish I had known about him before ..cos he would have saved me alot of financial frustration...but now that I have found a really good mechanic ..I sticking with Grant...and his crew...they are the best. I can't thank you enough ....I am passing his name and company onto all my family and friends.....cos I know they will be in good hands .....good on you Grant....keep up the good work ......YOUR;E THE BEST.....thanks so much .....You are worth more than the 100%..if I could rate 1000%..I would, you certainly deserve it...

Right from go Grant told me what he thought was wrong with the car (luckly nothing too major), he rung me and confirmed before doing the job, he even gave me his own car, because l only drive auto and the courtesy car was out, he changed a little light bulb in one of my lights at no extra charge, and when l got my little car back, it had been cleaned, shiny, & fanatastic, l have been going to him for just coming up to a year, and it will be a lifetime relationship with them, they are great. He even opened up early one morning when l needed to go to work, they offer great personal service, that money can't buy, l have told everyone that needs a mechanic too go there. My car broke down on the mangere to onehunga motorway offramp. They assisted me in getting it towed to them (at 6pm at night!) for repair. Dropped me back home afterwards. Car repaired by early afternooon the next day and back on the road.

KIm says: "I recently used Midas onehunga finding out about them through a co-worker. My car was actually at anothers mechanics who had quoted me $1500 and a new engine for my car. I took the risk and got my car towed to grant and the team at midas onehunga. Grant kept me informed and re-assured me i had been grossly over quoted. He fixed my car within a couple of days at 1/3 of the cost.
He then followed up with me about 2 weeks later with a phonecall to see how my car was going. It has never run so well and if i ever need a service or even a simple WOF i won't hesitate to ring midas onehunga. I have told everyone about their professionalism and honesty. I know absolutely nothing about carsso to find an onest, reliable and cheap mechanic is an absolute blessing!. Thanks so grant, sharon and everyone at midas onehunga. I give them 150% rating!!"

Melissa says: "I rung for a free quote and enquired if that included a call out visit to my home. Grant said they dont do call outs but enquired anyway as to where I ived. Since I only lived up the road from Midas on Onehunga Mall he said "Hey Ill just have to wait for the boys to come in and then I shoot around and have a look for you". Wow awesome I thought he rung within the next half hour to give me a progress report on his time of arrival (as I had rung quite early in the morning) and then he rung again within the next 15-30mins advising that he was on his way. Ive never recieved service like that before with a mechanic ringing with progress reports. As it turned out my battery was dead which he jump started and I followed him to Midas to do a battery test and a then had the battery replaced. I was talking to another customer who has been with Grant for quite some time now and all she could do was praise his work,kindness and the service and price paid for a job well done. I too also have to say that the service was great. Grants wife who works the reception was also extremly nice. Being female I dont usually like to go to mechanics but Grant, his wife and the team make you feel like a person and generally its not only by the actions they take but the overall feel of the place its very welcoming.
So all in all service was above and beyond and I would definetly recommend Midas Onehunga to everyone needing mechanical work done. Im new to Auckland so Im really happy to find a good honest and obviously hardworking mechanic, as I have had 2 previous bad experiences with mechanics in Otahuhu. Well done Grant and the team at Midas AAA+ "

I am just emailing to say what an awesome job your guy Grant has done for me and my car, I wasn't too sure how to do the ratings on the Cow Boy website so thought I would just email you all direct.
I was almost at losts end with another Mechanic in the Manukau Area who assured me that I would need a new Engine amoungst other things and was going to charge me $3040.00 which is a large amount especially so close to Christmas, so I ended up on the internet trying to find something or someone who would help me out, this is where I found your number and got in touch with one of your mechanics Grant!!!!
Seriously I am so glad I did end up online now I am paying way way less then that and Grant has also filled me in about what was wrong with my car and what they have done to fix it and he done it in pure english so I could understand, so from now on I will be bringing my car back here to get any work done on it as I trust Grant very much and trust his advice when it comes to my car, and I have also let word get around my family and friends and I am sure you will be seeing allot of them in the future, I can't thank you enough Grant for your help as being a first time car owner you can't believe how much you have made my week, I will be sure to pass the good word around and know your business will grow and make allot of money as long as you keep guys like Grant around.
