However this business, two guys came to my house on 5th Jan talking a small box working around 15 minutes to clean 3 meters drainage pipes ( they proclaimed 3 meters. What I… could see is just around 2 meters), they charged me $485. It's a real shock to me. When I sent they an email asking for explanation for the content from their email below, I waited quite around a week until a manager from the business called me and insisted that they were charging me reasonable price.
“If we recommend repairs and you don't do it that's your risk. Duration is 1.5hours. Additional hours will be charged. Price $485.00 Including GST
If its just the Gully that has blocked its $270.00 Including GST if its the drain that has also blocked then its and additional $485.00 as listed above.”
I asked them for the guys names who did the job on 5th January so that I can complete the review for this besiness because I didn't ask the guys for their names. They kept silent. So I have to use the manager's name from the email because he should know the details.
I feel sorry for myself to have contacted this business for help. This is the first time and will also be the last time. Never use this business.
The first job was gas fitting, and involved coordinating with other tradesmen, turning up on time, multiple visits in one day, etc. Basically it could have been a nightmare day, but everything went very smoothly with great contact and update phone calls. Plus the quote was significantly cheaper than anyone else I contacted.
I have since used them to install emergency water… tanks, install outside taps, track down a leak in the central heating, and another couple of small jobs.
I am always impressed by how reliable the whole team is, and the super communication from the office staff.
It’s great to know that I have a ‘good plumber’ who I can rely on in the future.
Two areas that caused me some concern.
One the man who came to the measure just gruffly brushed aside my questions. His female assistant was very pleasant.
Secondly while the installation went well was disappointed that they did not fix up the damage they had caused to the paintwork. I would have happily paid for that. Is now all fixed as I had a painter in doing other work.
But most importantly I have a leak free garage.

I was told the tradesman is booked for a 45 minute job. He spent 25 minutes in my house (I had arrived before he left). He never mentioned to me that he could spare another 15-20 minutes and hence was there anything else he could look at? We had a second (slightly) loose tap and I would have readily asked him to look at that if so.
As a result given the receptionist never mentioned the $190 fee (I later was advised "This cost is quoted at the time of booking a job, and confirmed that it is OK to continue") nor the 45 minute time frame and the tradesman never mentioned anything either I would not recommend this plumbing company at all.
In my opinion $190 to tighten a loose kitchen tap is extreme.
Very impressed by Wills work and would happily call again.
"We have always been charged the amount quoted. They gave us prices before starting in writing.
They have a guarantee of "On time or its Free" which no other plumber provides.
That takes some balls or very good systems.

They have been… around for years. Probably do more jobs than the others combined so bound to get a few niggly customers.
But over all would use them again. Problem is the other plumbers wont turn up when they say so what choice have you got.
Wait round for ever or pay a few bucks more.
Actually the last time we used them we got comparison prices and they were nearly the lowest.
The highest price was probably a mistake though.
Its funny reading a lot of comments where what they are complaining about has nothing to do with reliability or quality of work yet they put 0.

"We began to notice gas smells and contacted the company. They assured us that it had all been tested but they would test it when they came back to install the flue guard. Over time the smell got stronger and stronger such that we needed to keep windows open in the middle of winter to… clear the smell.
When they did eventually come and fix it they conceded they was a problem (a concession they later denied) and fixed it. It did improve although there were still problems. I tolerated it before finally stripping the heater down myself and performing a simple bubble test with water and detergent. There was still a leak. I called Southern and demanded they come and fix it. They said I would have to wait until Monday but I persisted and they eventually agreed to come. This time, the third go, they got it right.
There was no apology for putting our health at risk or for the inconvenience caused. I would never consider using this company again.

We engaged Southern to assess a fault with our central heating furnace. Repair options were withheld and replacement was presented as… the solution, which we proceeded with at a cost of approximately $13,000, believing this was the only option. This occurred despite our direct dealings with Doug, the owner. Only by chance did we later find out parts were readily available and repair was straight forward at a cost of about $700. When we raised our concerns, we were threatened with legal action rather than trying to find a resolution.
