You don’t need to bang your head against a wall

Apparently it was Einstein who coined this phrase – although that’s up for debate – either way it’s prescient when I think about business owners spending their marketing budgets and getting little in return. “Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.”

blowing money on Google AdwordsWe see it time and time again – blowing money on Google Adwords, hoping a listing or a social media presence will make that phone ring. in a way, it’s sort of heartbreaking to think of all the money going to platforms that are never going to realise what they promise. It’s like magic beans – alluring but in reality, disappointing.

Time and time again we see businesses that commit to the transparency and honesty of online reviews flourish. They tell us the same things until they become a chorus – ‘we have stoped spending elsewhere’, ‘the majority of calls we get say they saw our NoCowboys reviews online’, ‘we thought reviews were pointless but we now get how they hugely benefit our business.’

So why give your hard earned cash to other marketing plans on a whim without really, really thinking about the power of word-of-mouth online? It’s terribly simple. Consumers NEED to be assured before they consider forking out their money for jobs – big or small. They want to be assured, in fact it’s paramount – and you don’t get that by blowing money on Google Adwords

So why not connect your business with what consumers actually NEED?

Sure – you could keep doing the same thing, over and over, hoping for a different result. But why would you want to?
