"This was not a happy experience.

We were having some reception issues on some channels.

I sent an email to Steve detailing the work I wanted done, and left a printout with my wife.

I wanted the antenna moved up onto the chimney as high as possible, aligned as best as possible, and new cable run all the way from chimney to inside the house.

He ignored all of that and just ****ed around with the computer connected to the TV, losing all the settings in the process.

My wife called me at work to let me know. She passed me over to Steve and I tried to explain for him to just do the work requested. He said he would. Although Steve had now promised to do the work as requested, I was a bit nervous by now, and my wife was pretty ****ed off, so I left work and came home. To find that the aerial was on the roof, not the chimney, and instead of running new cable, he had just added a section and pried up a bit of our new roof and poked the joint under it, "to stop it getting wet"!!! He put the aerial on the roof because on other chimneys, he had had to deal with loose bricks etc. Except our chimney had just been fully restored and repointed. We had waited to get the aerial done for that very reason - but of course he didn't discuss this with us, he just went ahead and put it on the roof anyway. I never would have agreed to this, as the roof is brand new and I didn't want any holes in it - even if sealed correctly. So we are still getting some reception issues, but I have no idea whether it's because the aerial still isn't high enough, or whether it's the join in the cable, or something else. I only paid just to get rid of him, even though he had charged me for the time he spent ruining my computer setup, and he didn't do a single thing that I wanted. He's a very friendly guy but he just doesn't listen."

"First of all I would like to say sorry for the bad experience to Martin. Here is my story for the job. I was called to fix bad reception and found my customer was using windows media player with a pci dual tv tunner card. My meter told me signal wasn\'t so bad. These facts made me check the tunner settings. After the first auto scan the reception still remained with unstable reception. So I try to find manual tuning option in the pc as the site was getting channels from multiple stations with multiple frequency, and I want to direct specific frequency to receive. While I was searching for the manual search, I had got a phone from my customer who I felt like angry over me operating his pc. I had to halt the important process. I understood the reason but to me the pc was a something like a settop box. I have more than 20 years of IT background n confidence with pc, but over the phone I felt I shouldn\'t have touched customer s pc. He asked me relocate the aerial higher place such as a chimney but I suggested that mounting aerial on chimney was not best as I recently serviced nearby house which had badly broken chimney because of an aerial. I suggested mounting on the roof n I thought he was with me. He also mentioned about cable that was used for sky reception n I couldn\'t find problem with that. I felt like he was suggesting to replace the whole wires n I thought it causes more spending of money for very tiny thing, as I visually checked the existing wire in the lounge n outside of the house n my meter told me signal was not bad. I extended the wire to the new place on the roof. I put the joined under the corrogated iron roof to avoid water contact. However I thought it was my mistake to find customers actual wanting. If he was there, we could be able to reduced these errors. I could see the sky tower on the roof n also the signal from waikakere also strong on the roof. I did not noticed he still wanted chimney mounting. Aerial was relocated to roof avoiding tree branches to face the sky tower as too dense of branches towards waitakere transmission. I checked the signal with my meter at the other end n that was it. I could not touch the pc. Though I noticed gaps between what he wanted n what I did, I couldn\'t help without stopping the job which was my first experience that stop the job incomplete. On my way back I thought how my customer finish the job n gave him more information over txt n email but there was no response up until to see his feedback here. I now found he was not happy with my service n I would like to say sorry for that. If you still have reception problem, please do follow instructions I txt you n I emailed you. I will write once again here: 1. Check with different receiver like built-in freeview tv or settop box 2. Turn the aerial 90 degree for horizontal n face it to waitakere 3. Try 4G service filter Cheers, Steve ."
