"This review is for AB Appliances (assume that is the same as AB Services). The technician was hopeless - didn’t fix anything but even worse is the customer service. When the washing machine broke down again a few days after they “fixed” it I rebooked another visit. On the morning of the visit the washing machine started working again so I called to cancel the visit (no point coming if there’s nothing to fix). Spoke to messenger service. Tracey returned my call with a rude aggressive tone asking why I was ringing them. I told her it was to cancel the return visit

but she said they had no record of the return appointment. Glad I hadn’t hung around the house waiting for them.

"Horrible customer service, I purchased a part more than a week ago, never got a tricking number for delivery, never hear from them. So, I call and email a lot of times and after a day and half I got an email saying we don’t have that part we will try to find it or something like it. I request a better follow up or money back. I got an email saying we processed your refund.
No apologies, nothing. Very poor customer service, don’t really care look like.

    "Horrendous!! Avoid, avoid, avoid!!!!
People like this dont deserve to be in business. Unfortunately the same story as everyone else. Came out to diagnose broken appliance. Was in the property 5 minutes, couldnt find fault - just said best to order and replace every part 1 by 1 which will take months and no guarantee it will fix it. Asked him to provide prices of parts which he didn't until I had to follow up 3 weeks later. Said parts would take up to 3 months as coming from Europe. But still no idea what part was needed (so would have been charged for them all). Wanted $90 + GST, for no help at all. Overall just very rude in all their responses.

"Avoid like the plague. Hired them to simply inspect my dryer to tell me what the problem is as the store I purchased it from had requested. Not only did he fail to deliver the report of what was wrong despite promising to do so the same day, he did a sloppy job of putting it back together and in doing so caused major denting to the panels and caused the bowl to be misaligned creating a scraping problem whenever the dryer would spin.

They refused to fix the problems they caused and as a result I will have to go through the annoying process of filing a claim with the Disputes Tribunal."

"My LG washer decided to stop working, and there was a puddle of dirty soap water "marinating" and of course, it was out of warranty. The LG site listed several repair services, and I researched each one -- and you know how it is, bad review after bad review, warnings to stay away, horror stories galore. It wasn't until I found these guys, did I have any hope that I could get it repaired!

John called me back almost immediately and was able to quickly diagnose the issue over the phone. He even showed up at my apartment armed with the part needed to fix the washer. What I appreciated the most, was that he didn't talk down to me. As a woman, I can't tell you how many repairmen have just been sexist and rude. I once had a repairman say "This is a charge for appliance education, since you clearly don't know how to use your fridge." Because I've only had the same appliance for 5 years, and clearly, as a woman, suddenly stopped understanding how to use it.

John was respectful, he explained what was going on, and even gave tips on the dryer -- apparently one should clean out the condenser every 3 months, which no one ever tells you when you buy it.

After leaving, my washer (it worked!) started to make an incredibly loud noise. I called John back and he said he would return to take a look at it.

And, of course, my dryer stopped turning on altogether, so I informed him that I would be happy to pay for this second visit as a service repair. John arrived, fixed the dryer in a matter of minutes and also the washer's loud noise. For no charge. I did, however, give him a tip because I am thankful to get repair services (at all) during COVID-19.

Thank you for being respectful, professional, efficient and great to work with!

"AB called after leaving a messeage. They came out in about a week ago. This time they were checking Maytag dryer and got some suggestions as to what may have caused the problem. Problem fixed. There was a screw missing from the heater.

I am so happy the dryer is finally fixed. And the squeak problem was documented appropriately. I will up their review them 5."

I was told over the phone that they could fix a broken seal on my washing machine and had the part in stock. They came, looked at it and said “it needs a new seal will take 2-3 days to come in pay us $106 now” 10 days later I had to chase them up, the woman Tracey on the phone said I wasn’t in the system, after finally finding me she said they had the part but couldnt come until the following week. Tony arrived wanting his money upfront and when I told him no, I would pay once the job is complete he told me her didn’t have the right part. It had been over 3 weeks without a washing machine and after leaving message after message with their call service for an update I was totally fed up!. I asked speak with the boss via their online enquiry tool. Alex called me finally three days later. He was a real jerk. Arrogant, really smarmy, bit of a bully with a chip on his shoulder. Not a nice guy. He said the reason they’ve messed me round for over three weeks is because they don’t think I have any money. Think he was trying to make me feel cheap or hard up and force me into paying for a service I still hadn’t received. The guy sounded desperate for cash. So I just ended the conversation by letting him know we are going elsewhere. There’s no point dealing with people like this.

"Terrible service. Pete came out to look at the fridge. Said a part was needed and would be expensive and was not in stock. Used stand over tactics to pay the bill on line which I did. Called him several times over the next month kept fobbing me off saying the part was difficult to get. I phoned the supplier who got another company with the part to do the job. It was not expensive and it only took 1/2 hour. I paid Pete $103 and got nothing for it what a rip off. Do not use these people . "

"Not worth dealing with this company. We feel ripped off and our appliance problems still aren't solved.
We contacted them about needing a dripping fridge fixed, and a few replacement parts for fridge, dishwasher and oven- all popular appliances although around 14 years old. The first guy came and charged $90 plus GST call out fee, he was there 5 min and clearly didn't know what he was doing- he took photos and that was it. He told me that we wouldn't be charged another 'people' fee- just the parts. Then received a call saying they would order the parts. Today, half of the parts that we thought were ordered were not with the repair guy, and we're now told some aren't available. He still charged a labour charge to come and fix 1 thing. Asked to speak to the boss (Alex) who is not reasonable about what his employees have said to us and not willing negotiate.

This company does not run a good business!

"Don't deal with this company. The most efficient part of their business is charging customers for goods that are subsequently NOT received. I ordered a part for a dishwasher, which was specified as being "IN STOCK". Once my credit card had been charged, I received a further email saying it was on back order with an ETA of 3 weeks. After 4 weeks, I emailed them again and have had no response.

I was able to obtain the same part over the counter from Axial Appliances; IE: no 3 week wait.

I hope others will read this review and avoid this company like the plague.

"Bunch of con artists, avoid like the plague!

Do NOT deal with these guys. I ordered a fridge part over a month ago and it has not yet arrived. After receiving the order confirmation and payment going through I didn't hear anything back from them, until I tried to get in contact via email. This didn't work, so I texted and left several voice mail messages, all going unanswered. Three weeks later I finally got an email response from Alex to say it "was delayed", and that I should have the part on Friday. The part didn't arrive on Friday and they've dropped off the radar entirely.

Do not deal with these guys, they're total timewasters.

"washer for my building broke down on a Thursday. The clothes wouldnt go thru the spin cycle and I was left with a soggy mess. I messaged and had a reply promptly. He got the details of the problem and told me his tech, could come the following afternoon. I was given a 2 hour window from 3 to 5 but he called me after lunch Friday and said he could come earlier if it worked. He came by and was done in less than 35 minutes. He made some adjustments to the existing parts and told me it should be fine and if it wasn't then he would order the part. His fix worked and I saved money on having to get something new. The costs was reasonable and Terry was knowledgeable, professional and so nice about explaining what he was doing.

    All around a fantastic experience.

"NEVER use this unprofessional, rude bunch of "rip-off" merchants! We called them (as their address was local) to fix a hinge on our fridge door. We gave them the details so they could bring the part and fix it in one visit. Logical right?!...
The tradie came, had a look for a couple of minutes and said he'd book another time to come back with the hinge and fix it!! Absolute waste of time... They said they wanted $92 for the call-out fee!!...We then texted several times to follow them up - (our fridge was getting harder and harder to shut) but no response. Then we received a text threatening us with debt collection!. We immediately text the number back - no response. So, we called several times but when we got through and asked "what are you doing sending that? you didn't fix anything or get back to us and in the end our fridge door broke so we bought a new one" they just hung up! We kept ringing on different numbers and the same thing happened time and time again! We left messages on their office line but still no response. In our opinion- this is the worst customer experience ever and they don't deserve to be in business. Making money through these type of shady business practices is appalling.

Lesson learnt- this site will be our bible when seeking out new tradies...

"This email follows up a call I had with Alex last month where I complained that the repair person who came out to look at my Fridge/Freezer (that was leaking water from the freezer part) told us it was because of the hot weather and that we should take all of the food out of it and turn it off for 24hours then it would be all right. For this brilliant bit of service my wife was charged $92.00 (receipt attached) and left with a leaking freezer, trying to figure out how to empty it for 24hours without ruining the food in it.

I did not think this sounded right given it wasn't that hot, and if 23-25C was all a Bosch freezer could handle how on earth did they work in hotter climates and why had it worked fine for the 5-6 years I have had it, when the summers had been at least as hot, if not hotter.

So I got another service agent in (Able Appliances) who's guy took one look at it, pulled it out, cleared two blobs of black mouldy stuff from a small easily detached hose in the back of the freezer, squirted some warm water on the ice build up inside the freezer, sucked the dust away from the cooling fins and was gone in under 15 minutes - freezer fixed and working fine - Clearly this would not have resolved itself had we gone through the hassle of emptying the freezer for 24hours!/

When I tried to call someone at AB Services to discuss this 'repair' I struggled to get anyone who was interested in talking to me or who would return my calls until I finally got hold of Alex (out attempt) who suggested I email him so he could pass this on up the chain.

So, basically I would like my money back please. Given your service person did nothing and apparently could not even diagnose and/or repair an apparently basic freezer problem and I still had to pay for someone else to come out an actually fix the fridge!

Thanks for your assistance with this?

"Absolutely hopeless. Responded overnight to inquiry, got someone there that afternoon. As good as it got. Pulled it apart and left. no updates. 5 days later I chase to get no reply to messages. Finally a reply waiting on part from Australia, will give me update. Again no update so 5 days later chase up - no reply so I email 10 days after job started. Told part turned up yesterday, tech will be in touch Takes yet another week to get job done. Tech phones in morning saying I can be there at 10am? no notice, so can't do the time. Tech finally coordinates, takes hours to fit the hose - has to ring his boss in the end to ask how to do it. Then gets it done and charges us for the entire time he didn't know how to install. in the 3 weeks of waiting to get the hose installed I had phoned Electrolux during the first week and told by Parts department in Mt Wellington that have that part in stock!!! so job took 3 weeks - as waiting on part from OZ - paid more for tech not knowing how to install. Poor communication, and not sure if using machine with water leak was safe. Wisely they have mobile eftpos machine so they don't have to wait to get paid as long as the customer has to wait to get the job done. Wish I had read this site first!! Would not recommend"

"The worst tradesperson I have dealt with. After being late to the first appt he did not return calls or turn up to two subsequent appointments. It took 2 weeks to get our dishwasher fixed (only after several calls to another employee, possibly his boss) and we were given multiple excuses as to why it was taking so long.

"Called these guys to install a secondhand replacement stove, old stove not fit for purpose, and new stove would add a couple of powerpoints to a 1970s kitchen with a dearth of them. Explained we preferred a plug and socket to be installed as we understood that was the legal requirement. Electrician arrived 45 minutes late (we were his first job of the day), with no apology. Looked at oven situation, spent 10 minutes talking with his boss on the phone. Came back and told me he would need to go buy a plug and socket and we would need to rebook for the following week as he was "pretty busy actually".

Called their office and asked for an explanation. I was told that they weren’t sure whether they needed to install a plug (despite the explicit instructions), and that actually, they weren’t registered for that kind of work anyway. So why take the job, when we had made it clear that’s what we wanted? I ensured the manager knew that I wasn’t pleased, especially about the rebooking situation -he was defensive and again, no sense of apology at all. He said he would try and sort something out for that day though, and also he would check up whether the law required them to install a plug and socket. He later called to say someone would arrive later that afternoon, and that there was a loophole around ‘replacing in kind’ (which seemed reasonable at the time).

A new ‘electrician’ came later that afternoon, with instructions to wire the stove into the wall. He then proceeded to try and wire in the stove, getting instructions on the phone from his boss. He took almost an hour to get the job done. Problem is, he didn’t connect the powerpoints on the side of the stove into the rewiring, so there was no benefit gained from this. Overall, a lot of stuffing around that has left us with a half completed job (at full price).

These guys are limited in what they can do, have no sense of customer service at all, and certainly don’t get any positive recommendation from us at all.

"I found AB via Google a couple of months ago when my dryer stopped heating up, they were fast, polite and cleaned up very nicely after themselves. The dryer issue was rectified and before any work was done I was told what the problem was and given a total cost for repair. I couldn't have been happier.

My latest issue was with my refrigerator leaking a small amount of water from the bottom front of the unit. I called on Monday, and could have had an appointment on Monday but my schedule did not permit, so I was given the first appointment today, Tuesday.

Pete called this morning when he was on his way and arrived prior to the window I was given! Pete was as polite and professional as Mark, who fixed my dryer, and the matter was fixed within an hour!

You cannot go wrong with using AB They are he best in the business!!

I was making dinner on Friday night and my oven went out. The burners and broiler worked but the oven wouldn't maintain cooking temperature. So I called AB and got an immediate response with a potential diagnosis and was given the next available appointment.

Today the repairman called about 30 minutes prior to the 10-12:00 window I was given and arrived earlier than expected. The problem diagnosis was spot on, ignitor, and I was given the parts and labor cost as previously had been done. The work was done quickly, professionally and the oven was checked and all is right with the world again!

These guys are the absolute best! You cannot go wrong by using them. They are always professional, clean up and fast! Pete and his entire crew have a customer for life in me. Their prices are all given upfront and much better than trying to have another company diagnosis the matter only to tell you that you need a new appliance.

Thanks guys!! I am very happy with your service!

"Wow - A real mixed bag of comments. Some people have had a good experience but I too wish I had looked AB up here before I contacted them - Which I did because they had a local technician in Kumeu.
I wouldn't have gone near them if I'd looked here, and wish that I hadn't.

As a coincidence I saw their van at the local petrol station and approached Peter to ask him if he had time to look at our 90cm gas hob oven. Heat was escaping and it was either needing a new seal or new hinges. Also it needed new ignition switches for the gas hob. Peter said "Yes" so I asked could I text him my details and the details of the job i.e. model number.

Nothing was heard for 3 weeks so I phoned to ask if he could still do the job. He had apparently never heard from me. Although later he said he'd found the text and forgotten.

He took the oven door away to replace the hinges then rang to ask the model number as he needed to order new ones. I'd given him the model number twice and asked him to order new hinges weeks before. Meanwhile the tenants were left with no oven door while he ordered the hinges and tried to fit them. The tenants told me afterwards he took the greasy oven door off and left it lying on the carpet and in a dangerous place where people would trip on it.

When the new hinges finally arrived he came back with them but they didn't fit so he said he had a plan to cut holes in the door to fit them. I should have left it at this stage but said to go ahead. Surprise surprise, it didn't work. Our tenants told me afterwards they had very little faith in Peter by then but they knew he job had to be completed. Again one of them had taken time off work to meet Peter, and she said he was patronising when she asked him to look at the ignition switches on the gas hob as they weren't working. Peter said "There's nothing wrong with them. You just have to push harder".

His idea of fixing them I imagine.

I wanted to start again with someone new but the tenants had been waiting ages and he said he could get the deLonghi I wanted very quickly. So I thought stupidly

....How hard could it be to fit an oven?

Actually very hard. He arranged to meet the gasfitter on site with the oven and when they got there the gas fitter asked where the gas was. Peter apparently said "Don't ask me. It's a really big house".

Are you kidding! An appliance expert hadn't even checked the gas situation or phoned me to ask where it was if it was supposedly so hard to find - Under the sink!

So the job couldn't be done as the gas fitter found the gas and said it is no longer compliant to have it indoors and the job couldn't be done that day.

Argh! Peter then supposedly made arrangements for the nearest possible date a week later. He and the gas fitter would work together to install the oven. Luckily I rang the gas fitter that morning to double check where the bottles were going and he said he didn't have the job booked. Peter had asked him did he have time free and the gas fitter said "Yes. Between 9 and 10 that day but you need to let me know if it's going ahead". When Peter didn't confirm the job the gas fitter (who incidentally has 100% rating on this site and was excellent) assumed we didn't need him. So I turned up and it couldn't be installed AGAIN.

By now the tenants had had no oven for over 4 weeks and it was getting beyond a joke so I asked Peter to deliver the oven and send me the invoice as I was sick of his excuses on the phone and the gas fitter said he didn't want to work with AB anymore.

The tenants were also sick of having to make arrangements to meet Peter to let him into the house.

So I went to the house and met our usual electrician and the gas fitter who did a sterling job that very Saturday to help us out.... 5 weeks post Peter's first visit to "fix" the oven and 10 weeks post my first contacting him.

In retrospect there were so many warning signs but it's hard when you're liaising between your tenants and a tradesperson. I just want to add that he said he wouldn't deliver the oven until I'd paid the invoice which couldn't be paid until it was generated by his HQ wherever that is. It felt like he was deliberately trying to be difficult because I had to ring them and chase the invoice up and pay it immediately worrying everyone would arrive to do the job and he wouldn't have dropped off the oven. When I got the invoice it said I had 2 weeks to pay it .... AB's legal position. So he could have dropped it off straightaway. Trying to make a point? Who knows?

Also with regard to finance when he came out the first time and we needed new hinges he wouldn't do this without me sending him my credit card number via text - Which I did without the security number as I thought that was very odd. Saying he wouldn't do a job without all my credit card information.

I told him I'd give him the security number over the phone once the job was done. I.E. The hinges attached and the door amended. Which I did stupidly when he convinced me he could fix the door. The money for this part of the job was taken out of our credit card without any invoice being generated or sent from the company and I thought this was very unprofessional and untrustworthy. So when he said he wouldn't deliver the oven without being paid I said wouldn't the company have our credit card details on record to use. Which he wasn't happy about.

Overall the terrible communication, the lack of professionalism and the utter and absolute waste of time as well as the constant defensiveness are the reasons I'm leaving this rating. It's the first time I've bothered to give a negative rating. Normally I only go on this site to thank people for a wonderful experience but I want to help others know that this company may have some reputable operators.....

But not so the ones in the North West I'm afraid and it's been really interesting reading through seeing many other similar experiences with Peter and Alex who I understand works with him.

Arranged for them to come out could not be home got a text from site nothing wrong with the washing machine i asked for them to retest it with clothes in no reply i called johnathon several times over the next few days to find out what could be the problem finally he called carried on about control panels not worth fixing it has a bit of rust on it might have got water inside must be an intermittent fault etc etc told him i would think about what to do rang back no answer again and again and again 20 phone calls to him and 1 answered. came the weekend i fixed it it was what i had told him was wrong as it had happened before. got a hold of alex after ringing every number he had to discuss with johnathon i am still calling leaving messages but i wont give up

why did i pay these idiots $80 plus gst to tell me there is nothing wrong with the machine

and after paying that fee why would they not help resolve the problem even if it is intermittent (which it wasn't)

"We had an Ilve oven door that needed repair urgently before the oven could be used for a function in a couple of days time. I found AB Services online and contacted Peter Wilson and his offsider Alex. I arranged to meet Peter to give him the door, he arrived on time, explained the problem and what needed to be done to fix it, including a 24 hour curing time for the special silicone adhesive, and the parts he would need to get. By 6pm the next day it was all fixed, I collected it from his workshop, and his charge was very reasonable. Full recommendation for AB Services and Peter, many thanks for your great service and professional repair."

Made an appointment online and received a phone call from the a customer service rep the SAME DAY to confirm and arrange for a repair person to come out. I was given the window time between 9 AM and 10AM. The repair guy showed up at 9:30!!! As promised between the window time and is currently fixing my freezer. "I must update my review. My microwave had not been working for months by this time, so of course I said yes. She explained that they normally do not repair microwave ovens due to the fact that to replace to the cooking mechanism is usually more expensive than to replace the whole microwave. About $300-$500!

Well, I have a ridiculously expensive one, so I was willing to take that chance.
Vic showed up a few days later right on time. He even called while he was on his way over to re-confirm the time of his arrival. So far so good. When he arrived, he was clean, courteous and very knowledgeable. He even kept the work area clean and laid down a towel to keep my counter clean. :-)

He tried several things before figuring it out, secured some loose wiring, replaced a burned out fuse and it worked!

He wrote up the receipt, which was actually just a service performed receipt.

They said they would do whatever it took to make their customers happy, and they did.

I will definetly be calling them again for any future appliance repairs.

(Which may be sooner than I wish, since my refrigerator is making funky sounds and he let me know what he thought may be causing it. Hopefully it lasts through the New Year.)

I'm extremely happy I found these guys

"On the first visit to fix my dishwasher the man did turn up on time but spend the whole time on the phone getting guidance from a supervisor. He cleaned the filters and took the door panel off to check the control panel but after he left the dishwasher was very hard to open and the next day later it began to leak. Also the receipt he had supposedly sent from his phone hadn't arrived. I phoned back and was told they would send someone out cost free and resend the receipt. However that man didn't arrive and still no receipt. When i phoned to complain i was fobbed off by someone, who had never seen the machine, telling me it was old, bound to leak sometime and wasn't worth investing in . Getting an apology for not turning up was like pulling teeth and was another failed attempt at getting the receipt. Several days later i phoned again and spoke to someones else about the receipt and it finally arrived. These guys are definitely cowboys . avoid."

"AB Services North West Branch is totally unreliable! I contacted North West branch of AB Services to come and deal with my faulty dishwasher. A time the following day was arranged and the guy informed me of the call out fee of $ 80.00 wich was fine. At agreed time , NO SHOW - I rang back, was told he would be here within the hour. Again no show, got a call and was given some vague excuse. Made further appointment for the following afternoon, again NO SHOW, NO explanation given. On both days I had to rearrange my work to be at home, wasting my time! Obviously I cannot comment on quality of work or value for money. I would like to stress that this review relates to the North West branch of AB Services only, can't comment on the rest."

"Let me preface my review with saying that 4 years ago I purchased a home and used a different inspection company. I wasn't too happy with their service so I decided to check out other options.

    Flash forward to 2013....

My fiancee and I recently used API for 2 home inspections. We've been shopping for a home in Pasadena and had the unfortunately luck of having our first home fall out of escrow. I'd actually like to credit API excellent and detailed home inspection which allowed us to discover some issues with that first home. This was a major factor in our decision to drop the purchase of that home. Needless to say, about a week later we were enlisting AGI's assistance yet again for a 2nd inspection on a different home.

On both occasions Arman was the inspector assigned to us. He was prompt and on time on time for each appointment. On the 2nd round he actually arrived there before us and was already inspecting the house when we got there. The reports provided were great, tons of pictures and very good detail. When Arman wrapped up he summarized his findings and was happy to answer any questions we had. He was super friendly and even joked a little bit the 2nd time around wishing us luck on our 2nd attempt to find a home.

A definite thumbs up to Arman, (who made scheduling the inspections a breeze over the phone) and the rest of AGI!

My Speed Queen washer machine stopped pumping out the water during the spin cycle so i decided to look for a repair company within the LA area.  I found Absolute on Yelp and was very pleased with the reviews i read about the company.  The technician Brendan was great professional and prompt.  1st off he gave me a curtesy call 30 min before arrival. When he arrived to my house he introduced himself and was so friendly and polite. It only took him 30 min to assess the pump replace it and get the machine up and running again.  I will definitely use this company with future appliance repairs!!"

"I would not recommend using this company.
They were called out to fix a Smeg oven that would not cook properly from the bottom element. A rear fan was repaired and Alex considered this fixed the problem and was not interested in checking the element. When oven is used the problem remained. Several calls and messages left then an unqualified person arrived . Turned oven on, held hand over bottom element and said that there was some heat there and that I should cook but could just use fan bake! Further calls and an email to Alex were ignored. Alex has big issue with customer service! This service cost $210 and not fixed original problem so much for company warranty.

Got a real serviceman to call and he confirmed it was the lower element and fixed it. This service was professional.

"These guys are ace! I\'ve used them twice, now; once to fix my dryer and once to fix my washer. We\'ve got 8 year-old appliances and, thanks to Alex, they keep right on trucking.

I like that AB has suggested common repairs and prices over the phone. I\'ve dealt with both Peter and Alex and they\'re really nice, professional people who provide excellent, quality service.

My most recent experience: The washer started leaking Tuesday night. Due to their excellent service on the dryer I called that night and left a message. Alex called first thing Wednesday morning and apologized that their first appointment available was the Thursday, which I took. Later that day he calls to say he had a cancellation and would I like the 12:30 am slot on Wednesday Of course! Alex arrived a few minutes early, diagnosed a blown water pump and had it replaced in fifteen minutes. He tested it to make sure it didn\'t leak and I\'ve run loads since with no problem.

What could have been an unhappy, expensive time turned into a not too expensive repair. Thank you, guys for being exemplary in a mediocre world.

    Reliability - no show!
Unable to comment on quality of work due to above.
Although I did not have to spend money using them, I lost revenue hanging around my home waiting for them not to show up. Should I bill them
Communication - a joke - Unable to give me his name. Muffled replies about costings when booking a time; which were so bad I had to call the company for verification and of course the no show and total lack of calls to explain why. It\'s not my job to chase these people up, its their job to show up which would go under another rating heading of Costumer Service - scoring...yes you guessed it a big fat zero!

Save time and money and don\'t use them.

Read previous low rating reviews, as these will probably be the norm rather than the exception.

He was able to fix my oven in no time (dying ignitor) and rather than tempt me with a risky fix to my washer, instead gave me a very honest diagnosis that I was better off getting a new one and proceeded to show me why. "have to say that Pete was fantastic. I called him to schedule an appointment to repair a dryer that wasn\'t getting hot enough to dry clothes. He asked me to check a couple things before he scheduled a visit because it might be a problem with the exhaust vent line instead of the dryer itself. He said he wouldn\'t want to charge me for a service visit for just to discover that the problem wasn\'t in the appliance (and was a test I could easily run without his help).

"My washing machine was leaking, so I called AB. They came out the next morning and told me that I needed a new hose and he could order it within a day. But my machine was old and the cost of the repair was going to be half that of a new used one, so I went for that option. Noel hauled off my old washer free of charge to use for parts. I was searching for a good, lightly used newer washer, when Andy called me and said he had one that would fit the bill. He brought it by the next morning and hooked it up. Voila, I\'m washing again!

In general Andy struck me as very conscientious, responsible, and nice. He was zero pressure, just giving me the facts and space to make my own decision. The new used washer he sold me came with a 90-day warranty, which is pretty impressive for a used machine.

"\'ve had two interactions with Peter, and both have been really positive. The first time, he came out to fix my stove that was about 10 years old, and he quickly diagnosed the problem, ordered the parts (a couple of regulators), and came back in a couple of weeks.

The second time, he was able to repair my washer by taking it apart and realizing that there was a rag stuck in the drum--also, when i paid him, i brought up some confusion about my prior bill in the past (thinking that I had paid him), and he actually said that I didn\'t pay him. Of course, I was completely mortified, but he was really kind and pleasant about it (a lot more than I would have been if the roles were reversed), and in that sense, I\'m just thankful he came, as I suspect some businesses would just blow the call off from a \"deadbeat\" client.

So, Peter is incredibly nice, warm, competent--and sensitive and understanding. How\'s that for service! I couldn\'t recommend him any more highly. Now, if only I could find other Peter-like people for my various other needs...

This week it was the ice maker, (GE) and the dishwasher again. We have guests coming for the wknd.
Pete came the day after we called. The dishwasher wasn\'t draining but was an easy fix. Olive pits and corn blocking the air valve. (See, didn\'t I say you at least need to scrape the plates)

I admired Pete\'s diagnosis on the ice maker problem. \"It\'s not the ice maker itself, there\'s no water in it. It\'s the water valve.\"

Three other people tried to fix this stove before - 3 of the 4 gas burners wouldn\'t light and once lit, were only about 1/2 power.

"AB Services is a wonderful company. They literally saved my life. My oven broke right before a party and I called AB Services. The technician showed up an hour later and my oven was fixed withing two hours. I was so impressed by such great professionalism that this company carries. Thank you so much AB. I will definetely use this company again.

"We had a problem with our Kitchenaid in-door icemaker and after a less than stellar experience with a different problem and another repair company, I checked Yellow for advice. About 5 minutes after I left a message with Alex, he called back and was at our house in less than an hour. He quickly diagnosed the problem, replaced the part and bingo, we have ice.

He also noticed our built-in Kitchenaid microwave / oven and said they were notorious for a door spring problem, so he fixed that too. Our previous appliance guy denied that there was any problem with the door.

5 star service - highly recommended.

"Sounds similar to the below issues. We were advised they are the asko repair agents, Machine had a pump issue, in which we had same thing done 13 months ago.Came out, again this year, apparently did a repair, which we paid for, but 2weeks later the same fault was still there. They then took the machine away. They did not return calls when they said they would. They also didnt drop the machine back, when they said they would. Service follow up not good either. Would not recommend.. "

"I\'ve just been had.... I called Alex this morning and explained that our Ariston dishwasher was making a gurgling sound when the water for the wash (it heats its own water) was meant to start. He told me the call out fee was $50, plus $30 per hr labour plus parts... all reasonable. We arranged for a 2pm time. He arrived at 3pm with no call prior to say he\'d be late. He listened to the dishwasher (described gurgling sound) for less than a minute while also taking a phone call to arrange for an invoice to be sent to another customer, then said to me \"the pump has seized and it needs to go back to the workshop for a service at a cost of $200 - $400 depending on parts.\" He told me it would cost at least $150 to find out what\'s wrong, that\'s 5 hours labour. When I told him that it wasn\'t worth it he gave me an invoice for $70 call out.... of which I paid $50 (he commented I must have misheard his English accent on the phone). Alex acted like he didn\'t even need to listen to the machine working, so he could have made the prediction of pump seized, $200-$400 take away to workshop call over the phone. He just made a quick $50 for less than 5 mins work... he\'s not focussed on customer service - more on servicing his own needs!"

"In Jan 2010 the circulation pump in our Asko dishwasher failed. AB Services came and took the pump away. They said the wiring had failed. We agreed to installation of a new pump and total cost was $427. In September 2010 the pump failed again. Alex from AB Services came and removed some debris from the area of the impellor. The motor lasted one more wash cycle and failed again. This time I removed the motor from the machine myself. The bearing and seal between the motor and impellor had failed. The pump looked old and had date of manufacture Sept 1997. Peter from AB Services came out and insisted it had been a new pump. A quick check with the sole NZ distributor of Asko parts revealed this was close to impossible. Peter later said that the motor was definitely new but perhaps the impellor was recycled. The distributor said this was also close to impossible, that the motor and impellor are only ever sold as a unit. Peter took the pump away and returned it five days later with a new bearing and seal. He said there was 4 months of warranty left on the ‘new’ motor. I pointed out the Consumer Guarantee Act said 3 years. He grumbled his way off the property. Enough said."

"I hied AB to fix my washer/drier - and they turned up on time and spent about 20 minutes peering into it.

However, a couple of days later it became clear that the problem wasn't fixed. After that they promised to come by on two separate occations, but never turned up, and never called.

Apart from that they were impossible to get hold of, until I just gave up.

USELESS and a rip off. Don't even bother with these cowboys."

"As a previous reviewer stated "I could not be less impressed" either! I intend following up with consumer affairs but in the meantime a summary of our experience is that...we logged a call for service approx. a week and a half ago...the technician came out and the follow up call advised the machine had to be taken away. We arranged for the machine to be picked up last Tuesday and were told it would be ready for our return from a weeks holiday. Excellent we thought...the machine is not working but it coincides with us being away and it will be fixed on our return. I agreed the price if a new part ($500 was the quote) was found to be needed. To the guys credit he said it was important to check it out before ordering the part given the cost.

When I rang yesterday the (same) guy I spoke to, who never gave his name (silly me for not asking), did not remember the machine I was talking about, he asked me again what was wrong with it, and spoke of a $500 part being needed, essentially a repeat of the previous weeks discussion! After jogging his memory I was advised the machine had not been serviced but that it would be attended to...I agreed a new timeline (a couple of days) but rang back 15 minutes later when I saw the previous reviewers comments on this site...something was not right about this guys attitude and lack of customer care/consideration. I requested the machine be returned asap and was advised there would be a $70 service charge. Reluctantly I agreed...they did after all come out and take it away.

The guy was over an hour late in returning the machine from the agreed time. He advised me he had tested it and it was working okay now...he could find nothing wrong with it...I am running our first test wash as I write this.

Anyway, what these people took away was a faulty (or maybe not!) machine that is 2 years old and "was" in mint/as new condition aesthetically. What we got back was a machine with multiple scratches and oil/grease stains and the trim around the top surface is cracked. I challenged the guy about the state of the machine and that it was in mint condition when it was picked up...he glibly stated that he only had my word to take on that but that if I had some Jif he would clean it now. Last time I checked you cannot clean scrtches and cracks away. There was some terse debate about what state the machine was in on pick up versus return and I asked to know who the company manger is...he would not tell me. He asked me "are you saying you do not want to pay" to wit I replied you tell me what I should do given the state it is in. After some to-ing and fro-ing on this he just walked off and got into his van - I will add that at no point did I say I was not going to pay! I followed him and requested that he give me the invoice and that I would be following up with the manager. He refused saying if you are not going to pay whats the point, I asked several more times and he just drove off...!

The point is of course that as a consumer we want to follow up with the manager and resolve the issue, the problem is that it is this guy that answers the phone everytime I have called the number, so maybe he is a sole trader...on the one hand I would like a machine back in mint condition like the one that was taken away, on the other hand if it is working okay I want to resolve the payment issue as I feel we are owed a large reduction in the fee given the state in which the machine was returned, if not compensation. This guy could give a stuff about a reasonable resolution to the issue...I was flabbergasted. I do not like the outcome here...there is an issue that needs to be resolved - the damage versus the service fee.

Given the poor communication, slack timeliness in doing the work, the guys poor customer care/consideration, his dismissive attitude of the damage, and the damage itself, we will never even consider calling these guys again. Others can make up their own mind. We are left wondering if we should contact Fair Go but certainly intend to seek advice from Consumer Affairs!

"I couldn't be less impressed with AB Services. I called them to make an appointment to service my dishwasher and to replace the cutlery basket. I was told there would be a $65 call out charge. They did not turn up to the appointment, nor did they call to offer an explanation or an apology. Really annoying as I had rearranged my day to fit. I called later in the day to find out why they hadn't arrived and to arrange an alternative appointment. There was still no apology or explanation offered. The following day the engineer (Peter) arrived. He couldn't find the fault. The appliance was also not serviced. He presented me with a bill for the $135; $65 call out charge plus labour of $30 (which had not been communicated, merely the call out fee) + $25 for a second hand cutlery basket.

When I raised my dissatisfaction with him, and pointed out that this additional labour charge had not been communicated, he couldn't have made it clearer that he couldn't have given a damn whether I was happy or not with the service.

    Very unprofessional service all round.
