"Never, in 25 years of motoring have I encountered such poor service. I expected good technical skill(which I got), but the service staff at the ‘front desk’ were atrocious. The parts took 6 weeks to arrive from UK (which I was told would happen), but there was no follow up email, call to let me know they had arrived & the car was being worked on. Then I got told about a second fault (unrelated to the first) which I was told was because the computer generated the code (which was false and led to a lot of confusion). Then two different people called me with differs stories about a third repair. Then they tried to charge $800 for work that I have since had done for $330. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, it had sand on the drivers seat (from where the groomer had dumped the floor mat) and the vehicle was out of fuel. Save yourself time, money and hassle and take your car to a professional. These guys are cowboys."

"I own a 1993 Subaru Impreza, which has been religiously serviced. The car was due its regular service, and as the rear high stop light wasn't working due to an apparent electrical connection fault, I decided to take it to Armstrong's assuming a dealer would be able to sort the problem.
I made the booking by e-mail and was very specific on the issues and what I wanted done. The booking was confirmed by phone, and the work required was discussed in detail. When I dropped off my car, the work required was once again discussed in detail, including my own fault checking regarding the high stop light.

When I picked up my car, we discussed the work done, unfortunately the guy at the counter knew nothing about what had been done, but assured me that all the work required had been done.

In the four days since I have discovered the following:

    1. The rear highstop has not been fixed.

    2. Armstrong has replaced a serviceable blub in the highstop (worth $3.00 at repco) and charged me $13.28.

    3. They charged me to fixed at tyre puncture I specifically asked them not to (I had made arrangements to have it fixed for free at Tony's).

    3. They inflated all four tyre to 65 psi (recommended pressure is 29-31 psi).

    4. They charged for lubricating all hinges, but didn't lubricate any.

    5. They charged for 4l of oil, but didn't change it.

    6. They damaged to front windscreen seal.

I have made a complaint to Armstrong Prestige and am currently waiting to hear back from the service manager.

Stay away from these thieves, have nothing to do with them.

"Absolutely terrible service . I experienced overheating issues on my car. Have been told a water pump must be replaced.
They replaced the w pump and few month later I found they didn't used proper coolant for the engine. They poored back normal water (the water which has been drained originally ).They responded that they do that normally. After 8 month the engine overheated again. And Upper Hutt mechanic found waterpump rusty & disintegrated . Inside cooling system was so much dirt which indicates they didn't flush it once they have been installing new w pump ( mechanic comment is that he think the pump is 10 years old - and the car is really 9 year's old ) It looks 100% they didn't change the part and ruined the engine. I alredy spent at least $ 3000 to sort the car. Today they told me - part is out of warranty and they offered me a new w pump ( $350) as their good will.

If you want your car get broken give it to them.

"I had my Audi serviced through Armstrong Prestige, they offered a loan Vehicle when I booked which was great. The work was done faster than I expected and the cost was below their quote. When I arrived back my car was cleaned inside and out. I had a really good experience and have recommended you to friends. Thanks. 10+"

"I brought my Porsche 911 into the Armstrong Prestige work shop for a service, WOF and had a brake issue (felt poor when pressing around town). I was greeted by friendly staff and the work was carried out during one day and I when I picked it up it was groomed to perfection.
The brake issue was sorted with a full system brake fluid change and service and WOF was completed to schedule.
I would highly recomend anyone to bring their vehicle to Armstrong Presitge and leave with full confedence.

"I took my car to Armstrong Prestige for a simple service and when I got it back there was no oil in the diff. The diff was ruined and they denied any involvement. They told me and my warranty company lies so that they didn\'t have to pay for it. I had to take them to the Disputes Tribunal in order to get my money back.

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS!"

    Armstrong Prestige
    P O Box 9909
    WELLINGTON 6141

    Attention: the General Manager,

    Dear Sir,

    Re Audi Allroad CBM775

I write to express my disappointment at recent events. Not only at my uncontrolled uncharacteristic outbursts, for which I apologise, but at the treatment I received from Armstrong Prestige.

My car was picked up from my home on Wednesday morning by Armstrong Prestige for some warrant repairs and returned later on the same day by Armstrong Prestige, a service that was appreciated.

When the car was returned I found ½ of the aerial sitting on the back seat. When I mentioned my disappointment to Brennan he advised me that no one at Armstrong Prestige knew anything about this damage.

The service manager later implied that I was responsible for this damage and asked if I had driven it under a low entry, as the damage can’t have been done by Armstrong Prestige.

These denials of Armstrong Prestige cast aspersions on my honesty and integrity and basically call me a liar.

The facts are that the car was picked up by Armstrong’s with the aerial intact and returned by Armstrong’s with ½ the aerial on the back seat.

Having dealt with the car dealers and service departments on your site for more than 24 years (Gilbert Mercedes, Team European, and now Armstrong’s) this is the first time I have been so blatantly insulted.

Someone at Armstrong’s knows who broke the aerial and someone at Armstrong’s knows who put the broken piece on the back seat of my car, IT WAS NOT ME!

    Yours sincerely,

    Graeme Wright.

    CC. Audi NZ

    Rick Armstrong.

"Exceeding poor service. Failed a warrant for 2 things other (better) mechanics were amazed by and the cost to repair was astounding. Avoid at all costs would be my recommendation. "

"Got a one-day deal coupon for a WOF with Armstrong. They failed the car on 3 things and quoted almost $1500 to bring up to a warrantable state (including $70 for new wiper blades - yeah right!).

As we\'ve been overcharged by Armstrong at WOF time before we took the car elsewhere for a second opinion.

Two of the three things Armstrong had identified were legitimate. The third was not... they had said the brake discs and pads were \"worn out\" and needed replacing. In fact the discs were still 6mm away from minimum and the pads were only half worn. The second mechanic suggested getting the discs re-surfaced and possibly replacing the pads at the same time. That\'s a much cheaper options than replacing and would likely be a year before we needed to replace them.

Total cost (including a full priced WOF) was $450.

Won\'t ever deal with Armstrongs again.

"The problem: Engine leaks oil. (Yes the car is older and high mileage)
Their response: this is usual for old cars (not my experience before owning an Audi). They replaced 2 gaskets with the comment that this should fix the problem. Apparently they did a road test, well, I paid for one.
The result: a sizeable bill and a worse problem than before the visit. Just taken it to my local mechanic who is at least thorough and tells me what\'s going on.

"On 2 separate occasions have overcharged or tried to extract money from me using a variety of methods, including failing a WOF and not offering a refund/further investigation - despite VTNZ and NZTA advising that the vehicle is warrantable. Massively inflated tyre prices (tried to charge $380 for a tyre costing $240-260 at all other tyre places) and finding and fixing faults that didn\'t actually exist. POOR attitude and will readily rip you off if you don\'t know any better."
