"Gordon Paul Bayne finally jailed ... but do the people he ripped off get any of the $650,000 he'd concealed?

Was never a Cowboy. You have to complete work to be a cowboy.

    Only tool 13+ years.

Gordon Paul Bayne was sentenced at the Auckland District Court on Wednesday to two years and six months in jail, after pleading guilty to three charges under the Insolvency Act 2006.

Judge Evangelos Thomas said the most serious of the charges was managing a concreting business while bankrupt, through which he concealed $650,000, along with concealing property from the Official Assignee (OA) and misleading the OA.

According to the summary of facts, Bayne declared bankruptcy on February 4, 2016 - his fourth time. He was in debt in the order of $200,000 to $300,000.

"He is using Paul these days and advertising under concrete services in the paper. He asked for $1000 up front "to buy the concrete" which I paid - some guys half started a job without any idea of what I had discussed with Gordon about how the job would be done - they left the site after about half a days work, half boxing complete, no care shown and no adequate depth dug or any evidence of managing levels and left the place a mess. I cancelled the job at that point. I then got a call the next morning promising to deliver the concrete two days after they first promised it. I told him that I wasn't happy and that I had cancelled the job. I'm guessing the next move would have been to ask for more money if I hadn't cancelled it at that point."

"On 31st Jul 2018, I got conned by a person called Paul who I later found out to be Gordon Bayne. I contacted him from an ad in the local papers. He was quick to respond. Came to see the job and gave me an instant quote. He asked for a deposit
of $1650 and got one of his boys on site the next day. He then asked for another $700 to book the concrete and since then has never heard from him. He does not answer his phone and his answer bank is full. My wife call him using another phone and was told that he is a landscaper and his name is not "Paul". His name is not Paul or George. It is GORDON BAYNE and he is a lowlife just like all in his family.

"I got sucked in by George in the same way as above. All the delays and excuses occurred and I did get my driveway job completed but when a second request for work for my daughters place, again I deposited funds in Andrew Misur's account and was unable to start the work until Council Permit was approved. After we got that George could not be contacted as his phone took no calls except voicemail msg which never got replies. He's a rogue."

"This is a conman called Gordon Bayne (aka George). He's also been mentioned on Fair Go TV show with Pippa Wetzell & Hadyn Jones. Avoid at all cost."

"Absolute Con men. Their MO for the set up is. After asking for a quote George (Whatever name he uses at the time) gives what appears to be a cheaper than expected price. He then tells you he can start straight away and have the job done in next to no time. When he gets the green light he starts the job straight away clearing the area and boxing it out. Once you have been sucked in to thinking its all legitimate he will ask for payment for the work done so far and to buy materials. Once this is paid he will assure you the job is nearly prepped up and the concrete will be here in the morning. Just pay another guy for the concrete and they will finish the job in the morning. We were very concerned after the first payment and did not pay anymore. The so called concrete guy was his brother who owns his own concrete truck. (Gold Diggers) There was never going to be any concrete or finished job. Once you cotton on to them they are gone. They wont take calls, (suspect phone change) and move onto the next unsuspecting customer.

If you are engaged with this clown ensure you get a quote in writing prior to any work starting. Get his full name and address. This is what you need to take to the police. He is known to them and they will register your complaint. The best thing you can do is avoid them like the plague. If you've been scammed lodge a complaint with the commerce commission and register with police. Then throw your story up here with any names, contacts or address for others to chase up.

The job itself is designed to look good enough to suck you in but it is nowhere near standard or within any building compliances.

    We lost $3000.

This guy lives in the Henderson Ranui area so keep a look out for his crappy old silver people mover with North Harbour rentals on the side.

Big lesson learnt for us and we hope our story will help stop him ripping off others.

"AVOID! Scammers. The main guy calls himself "George" but who we believe is actually Gordon Bayne who has been on Fair Go a number of times and who is bankrupt. One of the accounts they asked me to pay into was for a Mr Andrew Missur so they are also connected in some way with this company 'Elite Concrete' which is, for obvious reasons, no more:
As Grant has also commented on this company, these guys will promise you everything, take your money up front and then not actually turn up to do the job unless you call them multiple times. When they do turn up, they will do a little bit but not actually finish anything. And their work will not actually be up to standard, as the registered tradesperson who we have now given the job to has told us. The alarm bells were raised for me when they asked me to pay a further sum that they hadn't discussed with me into a separate account than the one they provided me with in order to pay their men for that day. Then it just got worse from there until we called the job off after discovering they were not actually professional concrete layers. We lost a lot of money, but not nearly as much money as other people have lost to them in past years. We know all this because we have been told by various other tradespeople as apparently this guy has a reputation.

Please note this is for Auckland Wide Concrete trading through website not the concrete product distribution company on facebook.

Had a terrible experience with these scammers. George came to provide a quote and promised us quick service and told us everything we wanted to hear. He convinced me to let him start the job that day promising me he could get the concrete the following week but it was all a scam as he kept promising to turn up every day for two weeks without showing.

The initial work he did was good and he quickly cut up the driveway and removed the debris but never delivered on the concrete.

After contacting another company to finish the job they told me they have been cleaning up a lot of work from this same person and that he has been on fair go multiple times.

They seem to be doing this a lot and there is no feedback anywhere for them so please do not fall into the same trap as I and avoid these people like the plague!

"Avoid using these guys. They are hopeless. They will keep you at arms length and lie to you about a start date. Always tomorrow but they never turn up, never call to explain or anything. They will screen your phone calls and generally avoid all contact.

Their work is fine but they simply are arrogant aholes."
