"Found Peter on a mad dash google search! Needed an urgent property inspection and it was an easy quick chat over the phone. Important to note this was our first time arranging a PI, so put a lot of trust into the reviews we read and booked him in, thankfully he was available. "My daughter recommended Peter as she had used him when she was planning to buy her house and found him to be very helpful and competent. I found him also to be most beneficial as I had no idea what to look out in a 130 year old two storey cottage. "It can be quite daunting trying to find the right business for this type of inspection when there is so much else going on in relation to your property purchase in a small amount of time.
I'm pleased to say I couldn't be more impressed with the service Peter provided. He responded promptly after first contact (communication is incredibly important to me), organising a date and time was no issue and having completed the task today I am delighted with the whole service.

"Pete was a great help to us in the hectic days before we purchased our first house. We were told the day before the auction that we needed an urgent building report done to get our loan approved. "WOW. Never did I think I'd be so impressed with a house inspector!
Aside from Peter being in touch within 2 hours of my sending an initial query (on a Saturday also), his communication was second to none throughout the whole process.
Pricing is very competitive (GST inclusive, and not interested in ripping you off), and because he's a one-stop shop with years of experience, we didn't hesitate to book him, and will continue for any future property considerations.
He made himself… available on short notice, the report was incredibly comprehensive, and he patiently walked me through each part I couldn't make sense of. Being jittery first home buyers and totally green to the process, he spoke to us straight and without loading us with jargon to ensure we were armed to make our decision.

Don't waste your time looking around for service providers - Peter has got you covered!"

"I hired Peter Haywood to do an inspection on a property that I was wanting to purchase, for a cost of $522. He arrived on time and got straight to work. It wasn't until I received the completed building inspection that I was unhappy, it was very vague compared to other building reports I've had. There was a problem with some moisture in one of the walls so I contacted Peter as soon as I received the building report as to what the next step would be, if he could do it and if so how much.... no… reply. As I was on a tight time frame to get this organised I needed a reply asap. It wasn't until I e-mailed Peter about my solicitor needed a more in depth report, stating each room and each reading as this was not in the report, there was just a small paragraph about different places he had randomly checked but no specifics, that he actually replied to me., by calling. The phone conversation did not go well, he was rude and a bit smart, I needed guidance and all I got was a rude answer to every question. He would not make the report more specific and didn't offer any help at all as to what I needed to do next.

Luckily my real estate agent got in touch with someone and they came to look at the wall in question, Peter had said the moisture reading was between `13.6% and 32% but it turns out that some places on the wall were up to 130% also above the kitchen cupboards was up around 140% a place Peter did not even check! There was also issues with some rotten nogs under the roof and blocked guttering, none of this was checked by Peter Haywood. What a waste of time and money!!!"
Peter responded:
"Having just found out that I have a right of reply to the last posting, and we would like to put the record straight. Unfortunately as with any business you cannot connect with every client you deal with, in this instance everything had to be undertaken the way she wanted, not the way we did it, which was unfortunate, but the average moisture readings for all the rooms in the house were included in my report, and specified areas were noted as being areas of concern, with elevated readings to 32.0% being the maximum reading of the moisture meter used by myself. As for her comments I completely disagree, as I pointed out to her at the time, that the average moisture levels recorded throughout the home were incorporated in my report. In saying that the report was a waste of money, that would be completely untrue, as we found areas of the home that would have cost several thousands of dollars to fix, as for the other moisture readings done by the other company, with readings considerably higher than mine, she should have checked to see if the same type of moisture meter was used,(which she did not do) as they differ considerably in the way they read, the name and type of the moisture meter used by myself was incorporated in my report, and other company should have shown what type of meter they had used. I believe that this client did not purchase the home in question thereby saving herself thousands of dollars. I am sure you will read the other references below, which reflects the type of inspection and service we undertake, we have several other references all with positive responses, from other clients over the past nine years we have been in business. "

The houses that i have purchased have all been well documented and to a very high standard of construction. The ones that Peter found that were not up to scratch we dissolved the contract on. bsure is not the cheapest of all the building inspectors but you get what you pay for - he is the best.
