"Cossie Builders completed the original job on time and on budget as per the quote. The quote clearly stated that 35m of new soffits and 10 days of labour had been allowed for. When the original job was completed, Janet and Gary were so pleased with our quality of workmanship that they asked us to perform some additional work for them. Gary was very happy that we had provided over 35m of new soffits for the price of only 35m. We had some time before the job for the next client was due to commence so we were able to accommodate their request and perform some additional work for them. Janet and Gary then asked us to perform further additional work for them however we were then due to start the job for the next client so we explained that we could provide them with a quote for the further additional work however we were fully booked for work for the next 4 months. Gary bought it to our attention that he thought that 1 weatherboard had rot in it, we immediately left the new job and returned to double-check it and deemed that it was not rotten. Cossie Builders obtained the second opinion of another qualified builder for Gary, who concurred that the 1 weatherboard in question was not rotten. Gary said he accepted this. When Gary bought it to our attention that the thought that 2 soffits had rot in them, we reminded him that we had already informed him that 1 soffit was touching a live power line and due to OSH regulations we were not able to replace that soffit for him while the power lines were live. Gary said he accepted this. The 2nd soffit in question was also bought to our attention after we had already started the job for the next client. We reminded Gary that we had already provided him with over 35m of new soffits at no extra cost and that any additional work can be quoted upon however we were fully booked for work for the next 4 months. At the time of the job, Cossie Builders was not able to see that this 2nd soffit was rotten due to the difficult location of it and the paint on it. Cossie Builders obtained the second opinion of a professional painter for Gary, who explained that some rot cannot be seen until the timber is fully stripped back. This rot had not been found until Gary\'s painter had fully stripped back this 1 weatherboard in question. Cossie Builders explained to Gary that when 10mm of rot is found in 1 weatherboard then a professional painter would cut out the 10mm of rot, bog it up, and re-paint the weatherboard. It was explained that this is a more cost effective solution rather than replacing the entire weatherboard. Gary agreed with this. Gary was trying to keep costs to a minimum and asked Cossie Builders to re-use the original beading from his house. Cossie Builders did so wherever possible and advised Gary that some of the old beading could not be re-used. Gary insisted that the old beading be re-used so that he could save money. Yes, the roof was late as it was not able to be laid during the ongoing torrential rain. Cossie Builders explained to Gary that it was best that the roof was laid during dry weather. Gary and Janet did write a letter of complaint regarding the roof as they were concerned that the roofers had left mud from their boots on some of the screws on the roof. Cossie Builders takes all complaints very seriously no matter how small and explained to Gary and Janet that the next day of rain would solve that problem for them. Gary did complain that 1 rivet was missing from their roof and Cossie Builders installed the 1 rivet as soon as informed of this. Gary and Janet did complain that the water from their roof was dripping down the outside of the flashing. We sent our roofing subcontractor JB Roofing around to the site numerous times to solve the problem. Cossie Builders also returned to the site multiple times to see if the problem was building related and it was not. JB Roofing reported that there was no fault with the roof or the flashings, that the roof was not leaking, and that the flashing was doing its job by keeping the water out of the house. JB Roofing provided Gary and Janet with their roofing warranty. Cossie Builders have also offered to provide a second qualified Roofer to assess the situation and advise on it however Gary and Janet are still considering the offer. The last that Cossie Builders knew was that these professional assessments were accepted. This was over 3 months ago. Of the 7 invoices that were issued to Gary and Janet, 3 were paid late, 2 were missing signatures, and 1 was missing the GST amount. The very first payment was 8 days late. Cossie Builders found out yesterday, when this review was posted, that JB Roofing had advised Gary that his roof needed building up support before the roof was placed on. Neither JB Roofing nor Gary and Janet had informed Cossie Builders of this advice prior to reading it in yesterday\'s review. It came as quite a shock for Cossie Builders to hear second hand through this review that there were issues 3 months later. Cossie Builders has spent the last 24 hours trying to contact Gary and Janet to meet with them in person, to view the problems, and to rectify them. Our phone calls and emails have not been replied to. Now that we have finally been made aware that there are problems we very keen to resolve them for Gary and Janet. We would really appreciate the opportunity to rectify the matter. "
