    "We brought 2 systems from Dean and had the run around right from the start, He lies, gives the most excuses, like my back is buggered, my mother is sick in Tauranga, the stuff is coming from China still, Im waiting till the container is full from China, its new year, its Chinese new year, its public holiday here, public holiday in China, the list could go on!!! DONT BUY FROM THIS PATHETIC EXCUSE FOR A WASTE OF OXYGEN CALLED DEAN LARSEN. He owes us money and equipment and we have him recorded as well. I see from other people that he has already been taken to court, with what I would expect, He not turning up and customs winning the case, He still not paying up what he owes. Lets hope karma comes around and kicks his arse!"

    "I bought an alarm system from Exodus Alarms in December 2015. After a lot of chasing up Dean Larsen I finally got the alarm system in January but not the camera. I was told it would be with me a week later, that never happened. I asked for a refund to which Dean replied he would but he ignored all emails after that. I have now taken Dean larsen to court, as usual he didn't turn up. I won my case and the court order him to refund my money. He has ignored the judge and now it's with the bailiffs.

    Dean Larsen is a coward and a con man. The company was not registered, he used registered alarm installers to say the company was a licenced installer. He knows how to get around the law and will con you out of your money with a crap chinese so called alarm system.

    I have noticed that the Exodus Alarm website has gone. So be aware of any future companies that pop up run by Dean.

    "Had a miserable experience dealing with Dean and his shonky products. The alarm we were sold developed numerous, critical faults over a 2 year period. Dean was always ready with an excuse, and I got the feeling he was very practiced in fobbing people off. In the end I lost patience and when I finally got him on the phone, I demanded a refund as the product was not fit for purpose as per the Consumer Guarantees Act. He just dismissed me and refused to do anything about it.
    I went to the Disputes Tribunal and Dean did not bother to turn up. They ruled in my favour but Dean did not pay.

    I now have the bailiffs on the case and I strongly encourage anyone else who is owed money by this guy to do the same. He is a con-man.

    "I called dean and organised an alarm for $930 dollars paid instantly by credit card,booked an installation,then received this email
    Hi Stewart, just letting you know we are still waiting for our new G9R stock to arrive and hopefully will not be to much longer.....then waited and waited not answering his phones.. so went around to his showroom which is his house, and got told same thing..then waited and waited then got a reply to an email....

    I will be in touch as soon as it arrives and arrange the install with you.ok waited tried to ring no answer then got a reply stating he will do the install a month and a half later,got to the day finally then contacted him by txt got one back saying be a bit after lunch tomorrow call you in the morning.. fancy that never answer his phones when I started ringing for a time,, so again another drive to his address he answered the door in his underwear and come out with another excuse I had a problem I have to go mother sick,, excuse again,,, he gave me an alarm two sensors,(I ordered 7) 1 rfid... a smoke detector... a camera I did not order or want... still owed a outside siren and five sensors.. he seems to think the camera solves everything I don't want it.. he did not leave the property for over an hour when I finally left knowing he was a liar. I will be getting all of what he owes me I will not let up informing people of this 400 people at my work.... sign on my fence main road so really good advertising for him don't pay him first if you still want an alarm from him full of stories and no customer service or show room.

    "Bought alarm online. Arrived in a cardboard box. Several parts were damaged. The plug from the controller had rust on it, which indicates that it was made from a non-stainless ferrous material. I.e. not stainless steel or brass, as it should be. It was a taste of things to come. One of the alarms covers was damaged where it doesn't fit on and off smoothly due to poor registration in the injection molding process in the manufacturing (cheap process). Inside the covers, the electronics are all bargain basement low cost 2-layer cheapest of the cheap PCBs, with manual dip switches for configuration. Cheap range-limiting wound helical antennae, transmitting at unknown frequency. The outdoor siren (mine was actually damaged. I returned it for a refund but he took it upon himself to replace it instead and subsequently charged me for postage) didn't appear to have a suitable environmental protection. It would have been destroyed unless tucked away from the elements. None of the equipment had valid safety marks. Just the usual fake CE stickers on them.

    Overall the quality of the items was very low. I got in touch to arrange a refund and had to fight with Dean for weeks before he eventually agreed. I think he got sick of hearing about how bad his merchandise was. He deducted $200 worth of 'expenses' off the 'refund', so I'm well out of pocket. But it's not about the money. When I voiced my concerns in friendly terms, the responses became rapidly hostile in the extreme. He was openly insulting about my intelligence, or supposed lack thereof. All in all, the most horrible experience imaginable when I just wanted to buy an alarm system. Dean is aggressive, unhelpful and incredibly unprofessional. Some of the comments that he sent by email are actually so bad, I cannot reproduce them here. I would strongly recommend that you look elsewhere for your alarm system. Unless you want poor quality goods served up with the worst customer care and the worst attitude I've ever come across.

    I'm going to give them the lowest possible rating on the basis that at no point was I provided with the service I expected. The goods arrived in the post quickly, but they were damaged and hopelessly poor quality. The quality is a zero. And the value for money is also zero stars, because the goods represented no value that I can see. As for communications, I could award some stars for creative swearing and outright capacity to abuse his customers, but I will assume that those are not the criteria to focus on, so once again zero stars, Dean.

    I don't think I'll ever see any of that money back. I could take you to small claims, but it's not worth my time and energy.
