"Excellent service at affordable prices. I would not trust my car with any other. The staff are very friendly and straight up honest. They explained the whole process and gave me a substitute car while carrying out the repair. I have referred many of my friends and family to Hillside automotive and believe you may not find a better mechanic on the shore. "

"STAY AWAY PEOPLE. I truly believe that this is the most dishonest business I have ever dealt with. Please read below and make you own conclusions.
I contacted Hillside Automotive as I wanted the link sway bar bushes replaced. We booked a time 2 weeks later on 11.4.2015. Few months after that I found out that they actually replaced the mount bushes. Not what I wanted, but I accepted it. I called them again explaining the situation. They did offer genuine parts for 3 times the price of non-genuine so I chose non-genuine for obvious reasons and because I checked with Partmaster and they assured me that these can be supplied. Hillside auto said that if I want non-genuine parts they CAN and WILL get them for the appointment. Two weeks later on 27.6.2015 the sway bar links were taken apart, the mechanic drove around the stores (but not in Partmaster - the one that confirmed that they can get the part) they couldn't find the same non-genuine bushes and the old ones were put back in place. They said genuine need to be ORDERED for next time. So they made me pay for nothing. It turned out that the bushes could've been ordered through Partmaster, but they DIDN'T GO THERE as they "didn't have an account with them". I wasn't told that this would be a problem and that I need to supply the part myself, which I could've done for the 2 weeks waiting for the appointment. Then it turned out that TOYOTA has the part in their store 2 minutes away from Hillside, but I also wasn't told that before the car was put back together. I would've chosen the expensive genuine part $80 + labor $50 = total $130 instead of >>> $50 (labor with no replaced part) + $30 (non genuine part for next time) + $50 (labor for next time) = $130 + a COMPLETE LOSS OF MY TIME TWICE. I complained to the manager that agreed that the worker has made a mistake and initially agreed to replace the part for free. We booked an appointment 2 weeks later and he said that he will pick the parts up from Partmaster. I gave him the details of the order and left. about a week later I called Partmaster and they said that no one has collected the parts. I called Hillside again and the owner said that he hasn't collected them because no one has called him that the parts are in the store. I am not sure who was he expecting to call him. He knew that I had to order the parts under my name. Anyway, that didn't give me much confidence that the parts would be collected on time for the next replacement so I called Hillside 2 times after that to confirm the collection, but both times the worker said that he has nothing to do with that car anymore and didn't want to pass the message to the owner. I wrote a message to their facebook account, but no reply back from them. I decided that collecting the parts myself would be the safest way. Then one day before the replacement the owner calls me and has a massive fit over the phone saying that I was loosing their time, because I have collected the parts and he will not honor his promise to finally replace the parts. But they never replied to my calls as described above and Partmaster is 1 minute away from Hillside Automotive!!!! He then blamed me that I was self diagnosing my car (I was told on my previous service that the bushings will need to be replaced soon - SO I ACTUALLY WASN'T self diagnosing. Not that it's very hard to see the condition of the bushings. He then started lying that I told them that the part was going to be at Partmaster at the first failed attempt. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WILL FIND THE PART THEMSELVES that's why I did not order it myself. I could have done it if they told me to. I truly believe that this is the most dishonest business I have ever dealt with.

"This kind of business is 'old school honourable'. Pete is young. Perhaps there is hope I can find a plumber, electrician, and builder somewhere out there cut from the same cloth as Pete. When I need one of these trades I will be asking Pete for a recommendation."
