    "I asked Marshall Plumbers to fix a toilet in my rental where the water continued to run into the bowl after it was flushed, and look at a kitchen tap, which my tenants insisted was leaking but which I told him I suspected from the tenants' description was simply that the old bench top was sloping away from the sink and the washing up water was collecting.

    Mike did not go in person but told me when I phoned to hear the outcome that the toilet was unfixable and that the only realistic solution was to get a new one because this is an issue with that model. As for the sink, he said they'd pulled it apart and did some work. All of this cost $237 which included transport costs and a callout fee, which I think, from my small experience, is excessive. The sink 'problem' was not solved, and to their credit, they went straight out without question and did more work on it - still with no discernible result.

    I have now moved into the house and discovered that the problem with the sink is simply as I thought, not what I'd call a problem, and nothing to do with the plumbing - ie. they failed to diagnose a simple issue. And last week I called a different plumber in for a different job and asked him to look at the toilet while he was there - he fixed it within minutes with some silicon where a small piece of plastic had broken off, and a new washer for good measure. His costs were considerably cheaper as well.

    I have emailed Marshall Plumbers through a contact email they have online before giving this feedback, to give them a chance to recompense but they have not responded.

    There are three items to rate on here and Marshall gets 100% on timeliness so this rating will not reflect that this was $237 down the drain - given this experience of their work, they rate about zero.

    "Mike has been great to deal with. Answers his phone first time, and an action man that is organised and gets things done. Sorted a gas leak for us at short notice so we were up and running with minimal hassle. Fair pricing and well prepared. Definitely using again."

    "Mike came and did an install on our dishwasher. So accommodating when I mentioned my baby was asleep and kept the noise to a minimum. It was a fiddly job on an old house and Mike persisted to get it right. I had quotes from a few places and found Marshall to be on par with the others and his quality was exceptional. And he cleaned up after himself so well. Always a plus! I would whole heartedly recommend them to others. "

    "Very expensive.
    Didn't do what I asked.
    400% mark up for materials! $210 for lest than a metre of pipe and a connector, $50 from Bunnings.
    Lots of extra charges. Vehicle charge $30???? Call out charge $40???? When don't plumbers need a vehicle and work on site. I don't know what these were for, the job was during normal hours.
    I would not use them again.

    "Definately recommend. I was referred to Mike by another plumber who was too busy to attend to my urgent job - Mike managed to fit me in and drove from New Lynn to Milford within an hour of me calling him. He was able to fix the problem within an hour and a half and I was very happy with the bill. Yes there was a call out fee and a vehicle charge but the overall cost was reasonable for the time he was here and he solved my problem fast! Will definately use again."

    "Excellent Service, communication, workmanship and all but charge-out is very high.
    On top of a call out fee he charge vehicle expense. That sucks.

    Overall excellent service but recommend getting written quote up front, so you not surprised at the account like I was"
