"We were pleased with the job Narvin and his team did today - reducing the height of and cutting back a Robinia, and some trimming on our Japanese Maple. They were very professional and knew their craft, continued to discuss with us what we were wanting, and gave sound advice as to what was best for the trees. Special thanks to Keanen who was responsive and communicative and did his job well."

"I wish I had read these reviews before hiring the company as I would not have got involved with them. We got a quote and set a date, but they didn't turn up on day, can't remember reason, so we organised another time. Arrived late, but at least they turned up. Half way thorough the first tree trimming, Narvin said he'd have to charge more as it taking longer than expected. Why was that? he can't get a quote sorted? There were a few other smaller jobs, 2 of which he did, the 3rd, turned around and said he couldn't do it, too difficult. It was trimming the top of a few guava trees, a minor job we usually do ourselves, standing carefully on a ladder. The final price was more than $300 over the $920 quote, I gave him $1000. He threatened to dump the mulching at top of drive, threw my cheque back at me and stormed off, more fool him, he did return later and picked it up. I wouldn't touch the company with a barge pole. The workers, including his son where ok, Narvin himself is a rip off artist, stay well clear. Don't get sucked in with his pleasant chatter and lower quote, it doesn't work out that way. Totally unreliable company, you have been warned."

"Like many others we have had a series of untrue statements made about attending site. First it was broken equipment then it was other priorities. Then promised for Anniversary Day in the full knowledge that it was a public holiday. Staff were apparently 'tired' after the night before. Wednesday was promised for sure. No one on site. Job has been cancelled by e-Mail, text and VM. Inconvenienced for 3 weeks. Moved cars to accommodate access and attended site on 3 occasions - all no show. Do not believe what this man says. It is likely to be untrue."

"Arrived on time to provide a written quote on 12 July 2019, did not arrive to do the job when he said he would. Then continued to promise would be there on Friday, no show, then sorry there's been storm, we will be there in a week an a half, then no show and no communication, three months of follow ups and no shows and excuses. Today 15 October he tells me that he cant come for another week due to yesterdays storm and he will now need to increase the price quoted because the hedge has three months spring growth. I Do not recommend this service."

"Overall an uninspiring experience. Gave me a written quote and description for tree removal around overhead power lines and telephone line. Was meant to call the day before - just turned up which was annoying as we had to secure animals. The job was done poorly. Some of the work described never got done. Some trees were left rubbing on the power lines - these were small trees adjacent to the house. And to make matters worse he broke the overhead telephone line. I was out at the time and had to deal with this with Spark early afternoon. We have a home business so no phone line/internet (critical) for 24+ hours. Spark advised that the cost from Chorus would be approx $400. That account hasn't arrived and we are still arguing over the final bill. Had to get the tree contractor back the next day to finish the job (and boy did he complain about that!!)- there was foliage around the lines that went across the road from my place to the neighbours that was part of the original description - plus to remove the small trees rubbing the power lines. Chorus came the next day to restore the telephone line and commented that the tree removal would not meet Vector standards of clear path 2m either side of the lines. We did pay about half of the account and he did agree that we could deduct the Chorus cost - which I haven't seen yet. He has got very aggressive with his text messages and voice messages. He even emailed me to say he had checked with "Telekom" and there has been no charge from Chorus. Thats interesting because Telecom/Spark would have asked some security questions and further more the account is not in my name but a business name that he would not be aware of.

    I'd never recommend this business.

"Narvin gave us a quote of 2400$ and told us he will cut the trees and pile the logs instead he created problem between us and our neighbors and messed us both of our back yard. He came at 9 Am and finished work around 1:30 not even 6 hrs work but during the quote they have mentioned as 2 days job . Also they demanded another 2000$ to pile the logs which was in their initial quote. We didn't find honestly in his job. I would not recommend him for any job. Job date 25/05/2014. Anybody who hires him for work will have to think twice before you confirm.

"Narvin from Next To Nature contracted to cut down my pohutukawa tree in May, and the whole process has been an absolute debacle. From the promised 2 days to do the job, it took 7 weeks – 49 days - to complete.
Narvin quoted the job for $4000 cash and gave me a written quote for this amount. He also advised it would cost me $400 cash to have my and my neighbour's power lines disconnected and connected again as he ‘knew someone other than Treescape who was qualified to do this’. However, it transpired that they did not accept cash payments and instead invoiced me $575.00.

Shortly after the lines were disconnected and connected again, he said he would have to call in Treescape to disconnect the lines on the power pole as he was unable to drop the limbs which hung over the street; he said I would have to pay him for half the job at that point however I refused as the job was far from complete. He rang me frequently demanding part payment – on one day 7 calls to my mobile saying ‘he would lose his credit rating if Treescape weren’t paid with 7 days’ and he ‘couldn’t afford to pay them or his men for the work done to date if I didn’t’. He also threatened to ‘call his men off and just walk away from the job’. At that point I telephoned Treescape for clarification and they confirmed that their terms of payment were actually one month.

Shortly afterwards his men dropped a large limb from the tree over the hedge and onto my neighbour’s house and power lines thus disconnecting their power, and damaging the box attached to the house. Despite this being his fault, he refused to pay to have their lines reconnected and the installation of a new box and fittings, instead demanded – while he knew I was at my gravely mother’s bedside in a Hospice - I immediately drive to site to pay this. My neighbour, who works from home, was without power and not happy, so I had no option but to drive over to sign the contractor’s document or his power would have remained disconnected.

Narvin made excuse after excuse as to why he could not finish the job earlier and the weeks dragged on. He harassed me by phoning me up to 7 times on one particular day, demanding he be paid when the job was far from finished. He knew my mother was about to pass away within days, yet despite knowing this he still harassed me for payment on both my mobile and home phones.

His written quote contracted for him to take the wood away to his yard, but for the next three weeks someone he knew (who had only a trailer) slowly removed most of the wood which was littered all around the front of the house. In that time no work was done to finish cutting the limbs, in fact the tree still had one third of the branches standing.

My tenants at the property where the tree was situated were unable to park their cars up the drive for 6 weeks. With three small children aged 5, 3 and 1, I thought this was unacceptable.

Finally, after I sought advice and advised Marvin that I did not legally have to pay until the quoted job was complete, he finished the job and dumped the last two enormous bags of wood on my grass verge. He also used my tenant’s garden bag as one of the containers.

This was a long, drawn-out and unprofessional job, and I would not recommend dealing with them.

"Came over and discussed job required and quoted a price. When they returned to do the job they hacked the trees back more than I had requested and did not prune some of the trees I asked for. I did not check the work on the day as I am busy with my daughter. When I spoke to Narvin and advised I was not happy with the job he said he would be back within a few days, I am still waiting for him to turn up. They may be cheap however you get what you pay for, I would not use them again. "
