    "We had a tiling job done by this company nearly two years ago, but have only just been made aware of this website. Unfortunately, I\'d have to agree with the first client on this page. I feel for them, because that\'s pretty much the experience we had. Anita\'s response to that client has prompted me to write here. We employed North Shore Tiling to tile our small bathroom. We chose them because Tom was pleasant and the price was reasonable - not the cheapest quote however. It was a tricky job, but Tom said he could do it. The job ended up taking a lot longer than it was meant to, it was weeks and weeks. We got off to a good start, then Tom became unreliable, particularly when we asked him to fix the many flaws in the tiling work. The colour of the grouting was mismatched in all sorts of places, and remains so to this day. Tom wouldn\'t turn up when he said he would and became completely unreliable. When we queried and criticised the standards of the job and the unreliability, Anita became very hostile and unpleasant. Rather than offer to fix the problems for their customer, as you\'d expect a business to do, she was just so hostile! According to her, we were in the wrong, and they were in the right. The whole experience became very threatening. Unfortunately we had already paid upfront for the job (have learnt our lesson not to do that again) and we were left out of pocket with an unfinished bathroom and a very unpleasant, hostile experience.. No doubt, Anita will say she had \"issues\" with us too. Not the way to run a business and certainly not the way to get business referrals."

    "We needed our bathroom and kitchen tiled and after reading the positive feedback on No Cowboys I gave North Shore Tiling a call. This was by no means a difficult job as we had just finished renovating our kitchen and bathroom.

    We were not satisfied with the tiling job Tom had done and got a second opinion from another tiling company who noted the following issues for the tiles which had been applied in the kitchen and bathroom:
    1. Uneven application of grout.
    2. There were several tiles which were not level.

    3. The wrong size chrome trim had been used.

    4. In some places, the chrome trim had not been mitred correctly.

    5. In one area, the chrome trim over hung the benchtop in the kitchen.

    6. Poor application of sealant along tiles.

    In terms of service, we had the following issues:

    1. Tom did not show up on the day he was supposed to give us a quote. There was no phone call.

    2. The second appointment I made was for 7:30am. Tom did not show up until after 8:00am and I had to call him to find out whether he was coming or not. Again no phone call.

    3. On Friday 19 November when Tom started the job he applied the tiles to the bathroom and then said that he couldn’t complete the job as he had run out of chrome trim. He then said that he would be back first thing Saturday morning to complete the job. On Saturday, Tom did not show up until 10:30am (not first thing in the morning) to drop off tiles and chrome trim and to say that he wouldn’t be able to do our job as one of his staff had not shown up for work and therefore could not complete our job until Monday 22 November). Again no phone call.

    4. When Tom arrived on Monday to complete our job, he asked if I had a container he could use for grout (which was then later left outside my front door with other rubbish).

    5. While Tom was completing our job, he was literally running to cut tiles which suggested to me that the job was carried out in a rushed manor which explained the poor finish.

    6. On the evening of Monday 22 November, three tiles fell off the wall in the kitchen.

    7. No drop clothes were used to cover appliances.

    8. The area around the outside tap had not been cleaned up as there were remnants of grout everywhere.

    9. A basin in the bathroom was not emptied out and was full of grout.

    10. Anita had told me that they could supply the tiles at a good price, $40 per square metre for a 200mm x 200mm plain white gloss and white ripple gloss tile. I later found out that I could have bought these myself for $24.02.

    11. After sending North Shore Tiling an email to inform them of the issues we had, we received no apology after two weeks.

    We appreciate the fact that Tom did come back on Tuesday 23 November to try and “put things right” but the finish we were left with was still unsatisfactory. As the second tiling company said, tiling is a job which really needs to be done properly the first time round as it’s very difficult to fix once the tiles have been put up. As a consequence we have had to remove the tiles and some of the gib from the kitchen and bathroom and will need to get our builder back on site to replace the gib in places. We will also be paying a second tiling company to come and do the job with the finish we expected the first time around.

    Anita responded:
    "Many issues with this customer...unfortunately we dont agree to many of the comments in the above statement from the client..we have over 19 years experience and have never received a review like future customers please do not be put off by all people know unfortunately you cant please all people no matter how much you try to remedy issues."

    "This rating may seem too good to be true, but these guys were simply superb. Tom the Tiler is one excellent dude. Not only did they go out of their way to fit me in, & not only did they fix a tiling problem that others could not, & not only did they do all this within my desperate deadline of 4 days, but their invoice was completely reasonable. And they came back to check it was all good without charge. They were so good I sent them an extra $100 afterwards to say thanks. This is a true story. Hard to believe these days, but here is a Tradey with heart."
