"We have a 1910/20 villa bungalow in a rural area south of Pukekohe. We sought several quotes and Pukekohe Decorators and Door finishes were competitive at a sensible level. They inspected and measured first, discussed the requirements of the job and were thorough with the description of what they would do, how and when. We found there were no surprises or cost over-runs, and that they had some good advice about what type of paint to use and where. The finished job has turned out really… well and we are very pleased. Upon completion there was a second inspection by the boss and a comprehensive walk around with us to find any minor tweaks or finishes required. There were 3 very minor things, all which were fixed with no issues. There was a promise of follow up work if required, which is good. Beyond the actual prep and painting the staff on site were friendly and obliging and discreet, and did some work such as removing an old tv aireal which was helpful and outside their initial brief. They were careful to collect what was possibly lead paint so it did not contaminate our soil. Further, at the end of the process the total cost was lower than the initial quoted price due to a saving on scaffolding. Overall, this company had a professional approach and did a good job. We would repeat the process and recommend them to others."

"While here doing our pool job I asked for a quote for refinishing 30 rimu kitchen and bathroom doors and drawers. Quote was fairly high but we expected a good job so accepted. Delivered the product on the agreement they would be degreased, handles removed and everything revarnished. Were told they would be 2 weeks. Rang after about 4 weeks, not started. When picked up were wrapped in bubble wrap which seemed a good precaution against damage, but on unwrapping we never saw such a mess. They all… felt like sand paper, no handles removed, grease still on doors and some areas appeared to have no new varnish at all. A large piece of hair or cotton painted into one of the doors. Luckily we had paid by cheque and were able to stop it. Mike expected us to bring them back to show him but I suggested he came and had a look. Not interested. Wanted to have another go at them, but we were not interested if that is the best they can do first time round. Got them done elsewhere for $500 less and back to looking like brand new rimu doors though they are 28 years old. Will not return our 50% deposit as he said they did everything they had promised, it appears forgetting the degreasing and removal of handles and a professional paint job as quoted."

"To be fair I will rate this job first. Friendly service and reasonable quote for preparing and painting swimming pool.Job done as weather permitted. Unexpected rain after painting and they returned and repainted what was necessary within a day or two. Paint has held up over summer so no complaints."

"I would rate this business fair to middling. I agree that Mike gets marks for friendliness and punctuality. At the time the job was done, I was fairly satisfied with the work and the value for money, despite some minor niggles: they painted one door the wrong colour, despite clear instructions, but that was promptly fixed, and one painter was rather careless of my furniture. The quote stated that three coats of paint were applied on the skirting boards, but they flaked in several places soon… afterwards, showing bare wood; however, that was something I could fix. What is less easy to overlook is that less than three years after the hall ceiling was painted it began to flake badly. There is now a large and ever-expanding hole in the paintwork which I will have to pay someone else to fix. And no, there is no moisture or leaking in the roof cavity, I had that checked. I now feel it would have been worthwhile to go with the more expensive quote in the first place."

"if i were to rate this company on friendliness time management and price then yes great company BUT that's where it ends .after showing them the job and condition the outside of our house was in they were more than confident they could fix things.the boss said he had seen the problem before and said it was due to not doing things right first time and he had no worries with the job.the house was painted in good time and we were happy with the finish.but it wasnt long before the paint started… cracking and returning to the same condition .they were quick to come back and touch things up but after the 4th time we had given up.it has been 8 years since our house was done and parts if the house look like they had never been touched .NOT HAPPY AT ALL WITH OVERALL SERVICE"

"Excellent service, well presented quote and communication. Contractor turned up on time and completed the job in 1 day. Excellent finish, also went the extra mile to fix a small extra piece at no extra charge. Highly recommend to anyone out there looking for a painting service."
