"Craig and his team arrived on time and got the job done pretty quickly. I wanted them to move a piano down one storey on my property. Craig was careful about planning what he was going to do and about protecting my piano during the move. Craig was also able to give me a lower price than the previous quote I had. Thank you for a job well done!"

"My partner had been recommended by a moving company found in the North shore times to this company, Rodney removals limited as the first moving company had been fully booked. The boss of Rodney removals Craig, had specifically told my partner that the cost of hiring two men and a vehicle is $115 inclusive of GST. Through several text messages, it was established that the move will not take longer than three hours but all other hidden cost were not revealed.
On the day of the move, which is… today, they were 15 minutes late, and an extra man popped out of no where and the most of the movers were elderly, two of which were in their 60s. The move itself was ok though not professional as my partner was assisting them in getting some boxes out of the storage. They were struggling to get the boxes onto the truck with no system of loading and unloading the items to be moved.

They took approximately 2 and 1/4 hours for the move itself but when it was time to sort out the bill, we were charged for at least 4.5 hours and it totalled $560. The owner Craig claimed the time taken for the truck to travel from and back to the original point of departure which is Stanmore Bay is included. That works out to be $300 for transportation cost! That is day light robbery! Craig also insisted the bill to be written as $400 so that he can pay his two other workers $80 in cash each. That is absolutely ridiculous! My partner maintained his stand in getting the GST receipt with the proper amount written on it. Craig just sloppily over wrote 560 over the 400 which he had originally written.

He is utterly dishonest when it comes to cost and we believe we are not the only ones being swindled by this company. We do feel the need to let the public know so that no one will be put into this predicament again. If anyone knows of any other tradesman review website, please kindly post this and warn everyone else.

Shame on you, Rodney Removals Limited especially its owner Craig! Karma will deal with you in time!"

"After over 6 months since "employing" this company and now searching for another moving company, I came across this site and thought I write down our experience with this lot. Indeed, I totally agree with most of the other comments that Rodney Removals isn't what it makes out to be. We had to move a small houselot (1 bedroom) from our old place on State Highway 1 near Puhoi just a couple of kilometres into the new place in Puhoi. Communication with Craig was somehow abrupt, to say the… least, but I didn't have much choice at the time to bargain so I took it on, also because he was kind of local. His quote also included travelling time from Whangaparaoa to Puhoi and back. The morning he and two "men" arrived at our old address, he straight away created a problem for himself by having to cut off some branches of trees with a ladder and chainsaw in order to get his truck up our driveway which took about an hour. To top it all off, he only realized that there was not enough space to turn the truck around for loading and leaving, he drove all the way back down the drive and reversed up the hill again which resulted in another 1/2 hour extra before they even started with the job. The two men he brought to help didn't appear very "confident" with their job, although one of them was quite energetic and quick of the mark so the furniture started to pile up outside behind the truck whilst Craig was doing his best to stow inside. He took his time. I also did my best to assist the others but only just avoided our fridge from being laid on its back into the gravel by one of the guys. This one must have been the most lethargic and awkward bloke I have come across for a while and I nearly lost it with him after I realized that he just didn't care. After about an hour, the whole contents of the house was outside but the loading took another 2 hours due to the slow pace of the "packmaster" in the truck trying to stack the goods. Good things take time, as the saying goes, but hey, this was over the top. After arriving at the new place, which is roughly 4 km away, they drove once again the wrong way into the drive and needed to shift a seperate lot of stuff into a shed before the could unload the rest. I told them before what would have to go where and thats the way it should be loaded, but they obviously knew better. All skilfully arranged to charge extra time. The whole shift took about half a day, then they wanted me to pay $600. I agreed to meet them at the Puhoi Pub to withdraw some money, they were waiting already with a beer and had ordered lunch. As soon as I paid Craig, he didn't want to really talk to me anymore. I left with a sour taste in my mouth and felt rather taken for a ride by these three stooges. After arranging our kitchen, washing machine and furniture, we found that the fridge was badly scratched and dented on several places, the washing machine (quite new) has now a really bad wobble when spinning, one of our chest of drawers had a big chunk of wood missing from the bottom board and some draws from a long sideboard can only be opened with great difficulty. Some pots and plants that my partner treasured dearly were also cracked or broken. Adding insult to injury, the nasty hefty price and the demanding greedy manner in which these guys were acting made me decide to finally let off some steam here, even so this has happened in mid November last year. In a nutshell: a total "RIP OFF" by some of the most unprofessional nasty guys I have come across."

"The crew used highly abusive language at our staff, so much so we almost called the Police. One drinking beer on the job and left us the bottle. We would not ever like to see them back in our building. Certainly would never recommend Rodney Removals."

"Absolute muppet. Booked him in to move us and he didn't show up. Terrible service, moving is stressful enough as it is. Found another company who could come last min and save the day. Would not recommend Rodney Removals. Just don't do it."

"Don"t get Rodney Removals to move you as Craig the owner has to be the most rude and dishonest person I have ever had dealings with. I asked for two guys and a truck but he came with three guys and told me i had to pay for three guys. He went very slow deliberately so i had to pay more. He was rude and grumpy the whole time and everything was an inconvenience for him. Most of my stuff was all in the garage ready to go on the truck with only a little bit in the house so a two bedroom… house shouldnt have taken nearly three hours and that was with myself and daughter helping to try and speed it up. When we got to next house which was two minutes away, Craig leapt out of the truck, chainsaw in hand and proceeded to chainsaw the neighbours tree accussing me and my landlord of not having sufficient access. I said its the neighbours tree, why dont u use my driveway and he said that access is no good as there is a car in driveway and that small tree is in way. He is full of it and so uncalled for. My new property has excellent access. Once the job had finished he refused to take the branches away as he said it is my landlords problem, which it isnt. He was very unprofessional and stood there and argued with me over this. The young guy who was with him offered to take them to his nanas farm. Craig charged me 350 dollars for the job which was a total rip off. He then wrote me an invoice for only 240 dollars and then handed me money back and asked me to pay his two other workers. So dishonest. So beware of this guy he will rip you off and then some."

"We used Rodney Removals to move from our house in Warkworth to Snell's Beach, and chose to go local. We were very disappointed in their slow service, we had a bed headboard broken (they didn't even have the decency to tell us; we had to find for ourselves once they'd gone) and noted a couple of items missing after the move. Regarding the missing goods, we contacted Craig a number of times, at first politely requesting that he check inside his trucks (in case it had been missed) to which he… promised he would, but he never contacted us back. We called him again and this time he was very arrogant and accused us of ACCUSING them of stealing! We had my friend helping us pack up, and both myself and my friend last saw the large board leaning against our couch, then it was whisked off by one of the removal guys. Never to be seen again, and we unpacked all the furniture ourselves - there is no way something of that size could just mysteriously disappear, no way guys! We will NOT be using their service again; partly because of their attitude towards our enquiry, and partly thanks to their rippy prices. And we wont hesitate to spread the word!! DO NOT RECOMMEND RODNEY REMOVALS!"

"I highly recommend not to use this business. They charged me extra half hour to pay their setting everything into their truk at their company and also the time to drive from their company to my place. During the moving time ,they asked me and my husband to give them hand. So three quarters of my stuffs had been moved to the truk by ourselves. At the end they asked me for cash payment. But we didn't have enough with us. We said to transfer on line. They weren't happy about it. They asked me to… write down my drive license number and my job and my phone number ,obviously my house address as well. And also put on limited time which is within 24hours for the payment. What a horrible experience I had with Rodney Removal. I would never and ever go for them again."

"Craig moved our furniture from storage into our home in Whangaparaoa. Very professional, cost effective, prompt, trustworthy and professional. Left keys with Craig who was totally honest. No damages and all our belongings were left safe and secure by him. Will definitely use again. Thanks Craig and crew.

"We will NEVER use them again and we suggest with the other ratings on this site for Rodney Removals that you steer well clear ! Cowboys suit this crowd! Nice truck, but that's about it.
We needed a very expensive piano moved from storage at Whangaparaoa to our home in Gulf Harbour. We wanted to support a local company and saw that they described themselves as piano moving specialists. First of all the day was changed for the removal and then they couldn't even be on time, we had to keep… ringing and chasing them up !

We took out our own insurance as their insurance would not cover a total loss. When the piano arrived there was several thousand dollars worth of damage - luckily we had insurance - not so lucky we had a $250 excess that they would not reimburse even though the damage was clearly their fault. Their attitude to the damage was totally unprofessional, just a bit of glue and nail Polish would fix our $20,000 piano !

In good faith we paid for the removal, but on reflection shouldn't have until the repair and insurance was sorted. They did not want to communicate once they had been paid."

"I would not recommend these guys, they are extremely slow. They took seven hours to move my Mum from a two bedroom unit to a one bedroom unit located within 30 minutes drive. She didn't have a lot of furniture. The job should have taken half this time. As a pensioner she hadn't budgeted for a seven hour move for a two bedroom unit, but these guys were just slow. I used Tiger Transport 6 months ago for a 3-bedroom house move and it took just over 3 hours."

"Would not use this company again, nor recommend to others. Amongst a lot of things:
1. They were very very slow
2. They caused major damage at our house, which led to a 5 hour delay in our move
3. They were both overly cautious (took their sweet time in wrapping up every possession in cot mattresses and bungy cords!) and not cautious enough (one of the movers undid the bungy cords without thinking and our home theatre system was dropped on the ground)
4. They overcharged us by billing us… for time they didn't work

5. They did not compensate for the 5 hour delay that they caused

6. They were intimidating when we challenged the amount, so we decided to just pay to get them out of our house"

"Booked this company well in advance, but they subcontracted to another company and did not advise us. The subcontractor turned up 3 hours late which made the whole day go wrong. We even had to advise on the best way to stack our furntiture in the storage facility as the men seemed to lose the plot. Not a very professional job."
