    "Having dealt with what now appears to have been a pathological liar for fourteen years, we would advise all owners of homes built by Cranston Homes, especially those who imagine they now own a magnificent well- built home, to seriously look at having the house professionally checked for neglected, faulty and poor workmanship.
    Similar to other comments, we were so pleased with our home after completion, even agreed to have it entered into its Class House of the Year Competition.
    The house, built for our retirement years in 2002/3, is about to cost us up to $200,000 in repairs. This is as a result of almost twelve years of ‘on again, off again’ annoying, frustrating and complete lack of commitment by Cranston Homes. We are senior citizens in our late Seventies and Eighties having been left in October 2016, with an unfinished repair job covered with a non- weather proof covering. Cranston Homes walked off the job! There has been no communication since, Phone or email! Our retirement years have changed from something to look forward to, to an absolute nightmare! Left with a non-weatherproof house, we had no other option but to have it repaired, hopefully prior to the coming winter. Cranston Homes would not communicate, it was outside the Master Build Guarantee, the Registered Master Builders Association would not assist in any way, as Blair Cranston had been expelled from the association in November 2016. The Joinery leak in question, was progressive therefore treated as a Leaky Home by our Household Insurance and not covered and the Government assistance for Leaky Houses, had expired. All because we were repeatedly assured, for the fourteen years, that our dwelling was not a ‘Leaky Home’ and any repair necessary would be gladly rectified by Cranston Homes. In order to have remedial work take place on the dwelling, it was necessary to have a Weather-tight inspection carried out followed by a Quote for repairs, Council consents and a Company to execute repairs. This has taken a great deal of time and finance. With income limited to the Government Superannuation, a situation such as this could result in having to sell the house to cover the repair costs.

    "Our patience with John has run out. John commenced a job on 26DEC15 which he gave a verbal quote of $2500 and advised would take 1-2 weeks to complete. We accepted this as it would fit in with our Xmas break. He requested $1500 in advance to cover materials and then an additional $700 for more materials. We were naïve to pay this but as we were away we assumed and trusted he had made significant progress. On our return the job was only 1/3 complete and John was only working at the house infrequently. John's communication was non-existent and it was very difficult to get in touch with him (he doesnt reply to emails, slow to respond to texts if any, doesnt return calls). We have recorded evidence of all communication transactions made to support this. He was also full of excuses 'Ive hurt my back', 'my vacuum machine is broken' etc when contact was eventually made. By the end of January the job was only half done and John had ceased responding to any communication. He had disappeared overseas with our money and arranged another plasterer to finish the job. After not turning up when twice arranged, the new plasterer was too busy to finish our job. We ended up getting a different plasterer in to finish the job at an additional cost. John said (in writing) that he would pay half the cost the additional plasterer had charged but despite many recorded attempts to contact John, he was either still full of excuses or just does not respond anymore. We also requested a tax invoice for the work that was actually completed but again there has been no response so we have reported him to the IRD for tax crime. The most disappointing aspect is John’s disregard for our family. On numerous occasions he promised the work would be completed before our families were due to stay (3 months after the intended completion date), yet the work remained incomplete. Subsequently, my mother in law (in her mid 60’s) ended up sleeping on the floor in the lounge, due to the state of our house. Despite John being fully aware of our situation, he remained unmoved in his approach to the job. John is a dishonest, untrustworthy and irresponsible tradesman who we believe should be AVOIDED AT ALL COSTS."

    "John started well and was going nicely. He had some good ideas and reccommendations for my bathroom. I asked him to also fit the shower door so he could make the base to fit. John got sick and delays started, communication was erratic and this job took longer than expected, other jobs also got in the way which I wasnt best impressed with. "

    "John makes promises and is unreliable. My job had a deadline that was not meet and has delayed all other trades and remains unfinished. John does not reply to communications. Even the work John did do is not as we agreed, for example he said he would remove wall paper before plastering, John plastered over the wall paper. I am entirely unhappy and let down. I have had to get someone else in to do the job. John owes me money. Do not use."

As so far as I'm not own him nothing and if you think your are going to get more dollars of me I will pay you zero. So I'm not pay any and this the only dead fly who are destroying my reputation and I'm not giving up with this business because this client is looking for cheap.
