"The guys at A Active Furniture Removals did a great job of moving me out of my house, even with lots of steps up to the street and difficult couches to get out the front door. They arrived on time, never complained once (about the steps), and worked very fast and never stopped for a break. Would definitely use these guys again. Thanks!"

"I have used A Active Furniture Removals on four occasions over a time period of approx six years. The last was 23rd April 2013. The wardrobe was delivered on time and in great condition.

Fletcher was efficient, friendly and polite. I don\'t know the name of the worker with him but he was Maori, so I was shocked to read the racist accusations of one person on this site. The times I\'ve used A Active there have been Maori ,Polynesian, and Sri Lankan workers. Hardly racist!"

"Great works guys! Fletcher and his team did a wonderful job with the move of my 3 bedroom house. They were on time and were very pleasant to deal with, I have had bad experiences with other lowerhutt and wellington based furniture removal companies in the past and have heard of some horror stories wth other companies. Aactive did a wonderful job at a great price, I highly recommend them to anyone wanting a smooth and carefree move. I will definitly use this company again and recommend them to everyone i know. Thanks guys!"

"I have moved with active removals on 3 occasions and 4 of my close friends have used them I find it hard to believe the negative comments written about there workmanship,in all 3 moves the only damage occurred was a broken plate, due to my packing.the guys were great very friendly and humorous which I thought took away all the stress involved in moving, they set up all the beds and placed all furniture in appropriate position also connected washing machine fridge microwave and my treadmill.i would highly recommend A.Active removals without question.susan Thorpe (disc jockey) the breeze"

"After reading the comments on here, I had prepared myself for the worst, but I was pleasantly surprised. As we had a difficult driveway, the movers turned up a couple of days beforehand to check it out, which I appreciated. Although there were still slight issues with getting up the drive on the day, they persevered and got the trucks up. Once that was done, the move went very smoothly. Nothing was damaged and they were generally on time (only 15 minutes late, which is not that bad in my mind). I would use them again."

"Stay away from this business! Your money will be better spent by going to another furniture removal company and you will also be spared from the racist abuse that the owner of A Active considers is appropriate to unleash on customers.

When confirming arrangements with A Active a month before my move I repeatedly asked for 3 men, including one mover in particular. A Active agreed with this arrangement (in writing). On moving day 2 men showed up minus the man I had requested. I immediately contacted the office to voice my dissatisfaction and said that I would not be paying the full rate agreed earlier (which was based on 3 men). Fletcher Cairns (the owner) immediately became hostile and in a raised voice told me that he could do anything he ****ing wanted - \"I am the owner\". He then shouted that he\'d be calling his men back and then slammed down the phone. I immediately called him back. Again, in a raised voice, he told me that he didn\'t like my attitude and then started to repeatedly shout at me, saying \"you\'re a black bitch - a nigger. I don\'t need your ****ing business you nigger\"! Then he slammed down the phone again. A Active\'s website states that it provides friendly, reliable and professional service yet its owner (with very little prompting) quickly moved to the point where he believed it was appropriate to unleash a vicious racist verbal attack on me - one of his customers. Fletcher Cairns\' behaviour was offensive, vulgar and wrong. He deserves not to be in business!"

"Useless!!! The guys were 2 hours late and not even bother to say sorry. I can live with that. However, the real issues were with the charge and the damage the guys done to my cabinet. The guy simply just say \"**** happen\" !!! They are expensive, late and rude!!! I won\'t recommand anyone to use this company!"

"A little later than expected but good communication re this. Well priced. Friendly guys. Full marks for enthusiasm re moving the (exceptionally tall) wardrobe in (through the tight corner), but they perservered when giving up Plan A and finding another solution - ie the back door - sooner would have been the better course. We now have large gouges out of the stair balustrade, the wall, and the wardrobe in question. Partly our fault for not supervising the job and making the suggestion ourselves, I guess - we didn't realise that it was all turning to custard 'til the damage was done. Would use again if they were cheapest but would supervise this time! Especially if the super-tall wardrobe is involved again..."

"I have used a active removals may times personel moves and office moves,we have had 4-7 of there staff employed by us at 1 time.

I myself am a partner in a law firm in wellington city and could not believe the slander left by ANN about this company so have to respond!

I contacted the manager at a active removals and advised him of Ann's e-mail and so got the full story as follows:

Ann does not mention that she is a repeat customer of active removals so hired them again to move a couch for her lower hutt to ngaio(.$85 charge but ann wanted this done in 30minutes with 90 stairs). Also there staff had to move wardrobes plus bookshelves but ann didnt empty them so the guys had to do it thus increasing time. Also the hole in top of wardrobe could not be seen by staff as it was 6ft tall and caused by rot/borer as Ann inticated. Ann and her husband both rung a active removals with diifferent arguments contradicting each other so the phone operator told them to talk to each other as ann was saying they doing a great job yet husband at work was saying they were not?(ann should know she was there for christ's sake! Also Ann was rung repeately 1 week before arrival date but didnt bother to confirm job till the evening before removal, stating she was to busy yet active movers held her booking time for her. Personally if i was someone reading this i would recomend this company highly and take the word of a educated kiwi lady rather than listen to a foreign couple (unemployed)who drain our economy and treat people like donkey's! I suggest Ann to" tell the whole truth and nothing but the truth". That feels better thanks Ann,Janel montaque"

"A Active charged well over the verbal quote-it ended up being $200 for moving 5 items in the Wellington region-surely less than 2 hours work. When I queried the price they threatened to unload the items at the top of 90 stairs. As I was alone with 2 babies I had no choice but to pay them.

When I discovered that they had damaged an antique wardrobe they denied responsibility saying that I was "pulling a fast one" due to the initial pay dispute.
I am left with a damaged wardrobe and no chance of recompense- a very distressing experience."
