    "Job was booked on Thursday 12th to be done on Monday 16th at 2pm. I phoned Craig on the 16th 2 hours prior to the job time to confirm with him that the job would be done. Craig confirmed the 2pm time. I waited at the property from 1.45 pm till 3pm and Craig never showed up. I tried to phone him several times but he never answered his phone. I left the property at 3.30pm and have not heard from him at all despite leaving a message on his phone to call me. VERY VERY POOR SERVICE - IN FACT NO SERVICE AT ALL."

    "I used AAE for a major refurbishment on my commercial building in Christchurch I found this company the most efficient I have had to deal with .My building required total rewiring to suit its new purpose .AAE drew the plans ,discussed it with me and did the job in quick time completing the job ahead of schedule this included all the computer cabling,closed circuit seveilance cameras and security system I did not require any other contractors as AAE were able to carry out all as required.this saved me a lot of time .As owner and project manager for this refurbishment I was on site and was impressed with their high quality of workmanship and good quality of materials used.Their final cost for this project was more than competitive than any other company.Since AAE completed this job not once did I have to call them back for any problems which to me proves they know their trade.I have used AAE since on other projects with no problems."

    "AAE were our electrical contractors for our recent house build. Key points as follows;

    It was noted that wiring for a power plug hadn\'t been run through the framing (not a big deal), but when mentioned, Craig blatantly lied to me and said it was an alarm wire and was stuffed up by my data/security contractor. That blew all the trust I had in him. Craig should also advise Andrew when he\'s lied to a customer, so that Andrew can coroborate his story, as Craig told us many things that turned out to be very different when talking to Andrew.

    Craig changed the lighting plan on us during the pre-wire but didn\'t bother to tell us so when we got to the installation phase months later we were short so had to go and get more lights at full price.

    The isolation switch was wired in the wrong place and ended up being cut into a side panel of the kitchen joinery instead on in the wall along with the power points and is an absolute mess. When confronted he said it was my fault because we talked about it being in that location (this was back when we hadn\'t confirmed if power points and the isolation switches could go on the pantry wall). I then asked why if he knew that he could put the power points in the pantry wall wouldn\'t it have been common sense to put the isolation switch there as well He just fobbed me off. To make things worse he told the project manager one thing and then told me something completely different to cover up his colossal stuff up.

    When asked about running the wiring for the auto gates, he told me to go ahead and get my data/security contractor to do it or he could do it for extra - even though he was already billing us for the work.

    Absolutely terrible communication from commencement to completion.

    We were having issues with the ensuite extractor fan not working properly so he spun me some rubbish about installing thousands of them and that it was our fault (he said that we should be showering with the doors and windows open). I finally convinced him to come back to sort out (giving me at least 2 hours notice so I could arrange with work). He texted me at 0730 in the morning to tell me he would be around at 0900 but then turned up at 0805 after my wife and I had left for work (we happened to see them drive past). Andrew stopped (he was actually excellent to deal with) and said Craig changed his mind and decided to come around early as it suited him better. Last time I checked I was the customer. He didn\'t even apologise for the inconvenience. My wife was late to work as we had to go back home to get a car for her to go to work in. Turned out the problem with the extractor was that the ducting was only meant to be run about a metre but there was quite a lot extra. They cut some more out and said it should be fine. Still wasn\'t working properly so I got up myself and low and behold, there was still heaps extra ducting up there (instead of just cutting to the right length in the first place, it was left as a full length). I fixed it myself and now is working properly.

    Overall I was really disappointed with the overall job not to mention dubious as to how good his pricing is (I got a better deal myself on bathroom heaters from just going to Placemakers) but AAE is one of the electrical contractors that our building company uses so we didn\'t know better.

    I would never use them again, nor would I recommend to anyone.

    Craig responded:
    "You want not further dealings with me, however I feel it is only fair to defend myself against your blatant lies about me. For you to believe that everything you typed on the website is totally true, is the biggest load of lies to start with – let’s read between all the crap you typed and just look at your six minor issues, as per your email (your comments in italics): 1. “It was noted that wiring for a power plug hadn’t been run through the framing” – (see attached photo) - as per the photo you hastily sent to Paul to complain about the wiring, it clearly shows that the cable goes to the east wall in the garage which “HELLO” is where your ALARM BOX is – this has nothing to do with me, and if you had any idea about what you were talking about (which obviously you don’t) you should know that this is Arnold Jenson’s alarm feed cable that they looped from my flush box and power socket in the laundry to your Alarm Control Box. I happily fixed this cable for Benchmark Homes whilst in the company of Paul ASAP after notification was received that there was a problem. 2. “Craig changed the lighting plan on us” – I always work in the best interests of the customer (and so do my staff) so any changes we did make would have been purely for your benefit. By this I mean that often customers have lighting plans drawn by light shops, which when actually taken to site, don’t work well due to ceiling timber constraints (trusses & ceiling battens), and therefore are not aesthetically pleasing for lining up lights etc. If this meant that you had to pay more for additional light fittings that you had originally, I apologise for the inconvenience of trying to make your finished home a better one. 3. “The isolation switch was wired in the wrong place” – the final spot of the isolation switch for the oven/hobb was always the intended position, through the side of the joinery where the fridge was to sit. I admit we did have problems where the gib fixers brought the cables through the back wall of the fridge recess not quite in the correct place, however there was no physical room to get the cables installed in the timber framing beside the socket. This aside, on completion of the prewire, I did a complete walk-through with you to ensure all was as per the plans, and at this point you did not mention any problems. 4. “Wiring for the auto gates – even though he was already billing us for the work” – On the original variations quote and as per discussions, it was agreed that we would have a box on the exterior of the house with a dedicated power supply for the gates to be installed at a later date, that was where the brief stopped. For the $160.00 you paid, you received a dedicated 20amp power circuit, with a circuit breaker, cable, exterior conduit, waterproof enclosure, and the labour required to do the work. If you expect to get trench work, cable from house to gates, isolation switches, additional labour & materials on top of what you had already received for the $160 you paid, you are completely unrealistic!!! 5. “...extractor fan not working properly” – if you had an electrical or mechanical understanding you would know that anything that is extracting air requires an inlet of air otherwise a vacuum is created, hence your fan requiring a window or door to be ajar to allow the required airflow. We shortened the ducting by approx 1m and if you have shortened it again you are really not improving anything as the fan is designed to extract up to 3m of ducting, which is what the unit was supplied with. Prior to Christmas when we shortened the ducting a full check was done of the fan with the shower at the hottest and hardest it would run and no fault was found with the extraction system as we left it. 6. “I got a better deal myself on bathroom heaters from just going to Placemakers” – more often than not heaters and heated towel rails can be brought cheaper from the main hardware chains that what tradesmen can purchase from their wholesalers. We are not in the business of driving around every possible store to find a customer the cheapest heater, they are welcome to supply materials themselves as you did. We prefer to provide quality items and then back them up with a warranty rather than install inferior products (like your light fittings) that stuff out quickly, ie you had lamps blow within the first week which was due to the fact that ‘cheap’ isn’t always better. All in all, I am extremely surprised that you can complain about these ‘minor’ issues yet still pay your account to us in full, without any mention of a problem. Craig "
