    "Blindsided by this company - the last minute changes to our long booked accommodation, less than 24 hours notice, lack of apology or empathy was the worst we have ever dealt with. This made for very stressful travels and we will never engage their services again. Shame for the holiday home owners that they represent."

    "I engaged Bachcare after they did a really good sell, however as soon as they get you in the door they are terrible. They don't let you provide your own photos and instead have their own (very bad) photographer charge you $500 for photos that are awful. Their copywriters who write the advertisement appear to struggle with both detail and basic literacy. The local managed service provider was a child with no experience and did a poor job at cleaning the property, who had no qualms calling you up late at night to ask you how to do her job. Add to legal issues they are presently having and it's an all round disaster. Avoid like the plague."

    "Absolutely apalled at the attitude of this company. Similar experience to the reviews below, brutal cancellation policy, refuse to negotiate - i was happy to change dates but they wouldn't allow this either. They won't refund any money, over $1500. I understand keeping a % but this is terrible. Awful service. We will never use them again, and i can't understand why anyone would! Wish I'd read these reviews before booking :( Surprised Fair Go isn't on the case."

    "Avoid Bachcare. We arrived to an (expensive) filthy bach. A small refund finally issued but no meaningful communication with us to discuss and settle the fee we should have been refunded. Get the feeling once they have your dosh they really don't care. As we say, avoid."

    "DO NOT USE BACHCARE! After an awful experience in 2021 arriving to a filthy dirty stay in Hahei from the South Island for our mini honeymoon we thought we would try them again for a stay this Christmas in Nelson thinking it was maybe just a one off.

    Turns out they are still an awful company and love to keep peoples money when they have done no work!! We had a house booked from early on in the year for Xmas time but unfortunately circumstances have meant we now don’t need the bigger home. With more than 3 months notice before our stay I emailed to see if we could swap to a smaller property and had no replies at all. I tried calling more than 10 times and no answer along with 2 emails before it got close to their cut off date where they would of charged us the full fee so I went into the system and cancelled the booking to allow the owners more time to rebook while I waited for a reply. With still no reply to my questions and the property being rebooked fully by someone else within 2 days all they initially refunded us from our deposit (over $1500) was our cleaning fee of $120 - I challenged this and have now only had 50% back still trying to get the remaining amount.

    How this company sleep at night making money off people in this way is disgusting they told us the owner was unwilling to refund the remainder too which makes us incredibly mad. They are at not loss so why do they get to keep our hard earned money especially when they take weeks to reply and have never even responded to us re if we could change to another property. Upon leaving a google review yesterday they replied trying to say they offered us another property which was absolute lies we have had no reply!! Please DO NOT book with this company. They are shady as anything and we will be looking at small claims.

    "Worst customer service I have experienced, I requested to move dates (in accordance with the terms and conditions) - they lied and said they had spoken to the owners and when I offered to move to any other dates and pay more to move they advised they hadn't spoken to the property owners at all, they had decided to decline on the owners behalf. I had to call every day to follow up, no one responded to my calls or emails. I posted feedback on my experience and they removed it from the website without informing me and explaining why."

    "BOOK ELSEWHERE: booking online was fast and efficient, the management of the booking was slow and mismanaged by staff via emails and calls. Cancellation policy of 30days when you can book the day prior to arriving does not make sense. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY GO ELSEWHERE.     "Wish I read reviews of this company prior. Expensive. Zero customer service skills. No understanding 60 day no refund policy.     "An familiar story of being caught out by their brutal cancellation policy. Booked a place in Taupo for a quick two night stay 21 days out. Family circumstances changed overnight and wont be able to travel so contacted them the following day, hoping for at least a credit option but no luck other than discounting the cleaning. Highly recommend using AirBNB or other service that at least a bit more reasonable in their cancellation policy."

    "AVOID THEM.

    We booked 3 weeks before our check-in. Unfortunately the next day I got told a date for my surgery had been set which would mean I could not drive.
    The next day we cancelled, thinking that a)being only one day after the booking we were not preventing someone else booking b) it was out of our control but we have been told "tough".

    I understand it could be a financial loss to the owner if it was a number of days between booking and cancellation but in this case their would have been no loss.

    I expected common sense to prevail to work out a solution. Even if the money was put in credit.

    I then said "OK", can we uncancell and I will try and fing a driver to get us there. But "sorry, we can't do that".

    No reason., they just can't do that.

    In fact, they were not even interested in talking about options, or a solution etc.

    As I have found out they are under investigation from the Commerce Commission. And by the looks of most of these comments I am not the only person that is finding this not fair.

    "AVOID this company!!! They are thieves!!!! Canceled the booking 30 days before travel as in THEIR OWN T&C's they have to refund me. They refuse to give me my money back and will not respond to any emails. They also tried to take out another $1k payment 2 days after cancellation!!!! These guys are crooks and cowboys!!!     "Terrible conditions and service at bachcare.co.nz. First and last time booking. Was told I would get a refund on a cancelled booking so went ahead and cancelled only to be advised by someone else that no refund will be given. Staff continuously promise to sort it out and call you back but never do. It appears this sort of thing happens often and wish I had of looked at the reviews prior to booking in the first place. "

    "I had been given a $400 voucher and with the covid restrictions and unable to work etc unfortunately I’d put it to the back of my mind, then noticed it had expired by one day, contacted Bachcare immediately via email and phone to see if I could have an extension on the voucher. They told me at the time that they were aware of the issue and would be contacted but then they didn’t get back to me. Recently I contacted them again and received an email saying: “We are not able to extend the expiry date of the Voucher. Our system does not allow it.”

    I very rarely complain and I understand that it was my mistake to begin with to let it lapse but imagined under the circumstances there may be some kind of compromise considering they received $400 for doing nothing. Basically I won’t be using this company again, it’s like dealing with inland revenue when you have an issue, there’s no compassion.

    "Would not use Bachcare. Terrible communication. I cancelled accommodation 6 months prior to booking and they keep the 30% deposit on rental I paid. They have already re rented for that period. They refunded cleaning fee. I understand them keeping their service fee but this is a rip off !!!! Shame on them!!"

    "CANCELLATION CHALLENGES. I had to cancel a trip to Wanaka in August 2021 due to Covid lockdown. Airline, car hire, Cardrona - all were happy to refund my purchases in full, and promptly. 6 months on I am still trying to get Bachcare to refund my $4000. They have ignored all of my emails and phonecalls, not even a reply to explain any aspect of my request. Its not as if they lose out by refunding me as they have not had to pay the homeowner. My money is still in their bank account, or at least it should be. A truly poor experience, when things don't go according to plan."

    "Steph was amazing! She was very helpful, accommodating and efficient. She was patient and flexible - taking in stride all the changes that came with Covid-19 restrictions and conditions, along with all the requests made on my part with no issue.
    We loved the Jack Points Rise holiday home - it had the most serene views and it had everything we needed. A box of Patagonia chocolates awaited us which was also real sweet. I added guests at the last minute and there were no problems - all the beds were made up and we had sufficient bedding linen and towels.

    We will be back!

    "Bachcare have absolutely useless customer service, I will never use them again. Called and emailed on the 3/2 to move a booking, no responsed. Called 8/2, 9/2, and 11/2 couldn't get through. Emailed 11/2 no response. Called 16/2 finally answered. Unable to even move the booking, unless it was another date in March despite Covid19 fears, a wedding being cancelled and immunocompromised people. Wouldn't listen to it. Still charging 300+ dollars to cancel a booking for weeks in advance. Unapologetic on the phone. Absolute swindlers."

    "This company is so hard to deal with. i have tried for two months to cancel a booking and no one has responded until this week. So many emails and phone messages i have left have not been replied too. Then a woman replies and says please confirm your cancellation by replying to this email. Are you kidding me? You have so many emails already - and guess what, no refund, that will have to be a small claims court issue as they really are a company with zero morals. Should have known the last time when they didn't get back to me over a deferred booking. But others beware - look at any other accommodation booking site before these people. Quick to take money and absolutely NO correspondence - Expect nothing."

    "The house we stayed at in Ohakune was of an older style with original carpet. Bachcare emailed the wrong PIN number for the key collection. The manager was handy & come over & helped us out. I wouldn’t stay at that house again. We were on a water tank & so conservation was a focus. It was hot but we couldn’t set up the kids water slide or blow up pool. Limited showers. Wish we knew before hand. It was never mentioned until we arrived. The garage on the property was disgusting, over run with bird poop. Fire alarms went off randomly in the middle of the night. The wifi ran out & we had to ask for a top up that also ran out. It was not a great experience and we left a week early, informed the head office and still haven’t received a response. Pretty much - thanks for your money and we never heard from them again."

    "Bachcare is a rip off company. The fees they charge for doing nothing are exorbitant. We stayed 3 nights in Akaroa and they charged $180 for cleaning. The place was brand new and modern and would hardly have needed cleaning. They misrepresented the house with pics that made it look like it was rural and private. Directly across from the open deck were double units with their deck facing us. They do not show this nor mention it anywhere. They do the owners a disservice creaming off profits that should go to the owner. The woman from Bachcare charged me $34 postage to send a small item I had left behind,back to me in Chch. Akaroa to Chch? $34 ? And then they don’t print your review."

    "Aweful to list with Bachcare. Reading the comments from here it sounded they charged guests cancellation fee. For us as house owner they said there was no cancellation fee charged to guests and let us know about booking cancellations 48 hours before or right on the day of booking, despite lockdown was going for weeks in Auckland and Australia. They don't bother letting us know till last minute stating volume of cancellation they were dealing with so we can't rent the house out privately or use it ourselves, always in the peak time like ski season or school holiday. We don't get a single cent reimbursement from Bachcare despite having to plan our school holiday around bookings that were never going to occur. I would not recommend them. They cut huge percentage off the nightly rate and leave owners out to dry."

    "Terrible communication and appalling customer approach!
    Do not book Bachcare everyone!
    Our booking got cancelled due to latest AL-4 Lockdown unable to travel, T&C never clarify cancellation due to lockdown but I’m sure consumers should receive full refund just like any other bookings.
    You don’t just charged consumers when they never get the chance to even enjoy the space!
    Kept offering account credit that we have stated clear we just want full refund into our bank! Staff responses are just confusing and unhelpful!

    "Our Bachcare representative, Lynette, was excellent. From the minute we booked our Easter break at Sweeping Seaviews Waihi till the time we handed in the keys at a very sad goodbye after the best stay at our home away from home....only better. This place has the most amazing sunrises all from the lounge with my steaming cup of coffee in hand. 3 bedrooms with lots of different bedding configurations. Lots of different reading / relaxing areas. Lovely deck and of course location location location. If you are a walked... within walking distance of Flat White cafe at the end of one side of the beach, Bowentown at the other end of the beach and Wahi Beach shops / cafes / four square groceries up the road."

    "Opito Bay is a magic place, fantastic location, safe beach, fishing and walks close by. Accommodation comfortable and well equipped. A typical Bach but location is excellent straight across the road from beach. Beautiful views and can lounge on the deck and watch the world go by

    "Katrina was such a big help, super prompt with communication and easy to deal with. She made everything so easy for us. The place we stayed at 107 Seabreeze was great. It had everything we needed and more. The location was perfect for those walks into town after eating to much. Highly recommend!!"

    "Five friends and I recently stayed in Napier to celebrate my 60th birthday.
    We were very pleased to stay at Beauty on Bluff as it was ideal for our group and the lovely house and views made it memorable.
    Finding the house was easy with specific instructions from Jon who was there to meet us with a warm welcome.
    The house was very well appointed, clean and comfortable. all the beds were comfortable and the 2 bathrooms catered for our number well.
    I would recommend this spacious home with great views to my friends and family.

    "We loved our stay in Hanmer in this fabulous spacious home. Very well heated, Yunca woodburner plus wall heaters and underfloor heating in bathrooms. Games Room, table tennis and lots of stuff for the kids to do and lots of room for outdoor play! Fantastic kitchen and everything you need is there. I can understand the cleaning fee, it is a huge place! Leanne was very welcoming and helpful! We would definitely stay again in this quality venue!"

    "DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING WITH THIS COMPANY!!
    We just had our reservation canceled days before we were meant to arrive as apparently the owner decided to use the house. They have absolutely no policy to stop owners from doing that and now we are left with no place to stay in peak season with only 2 days to find something. All Bachcare offered us was an apology and a refund. If you dont want to be left on the street i suggest you book with someone else.

    Nice cozy Lockwood style house with plenty of space and beds. All that was need was available.
    The fire place was lovely on the cooler nights after being to the mountains - Great location for those on a winter getaway.

    "Waikanae Beach Holiday. Hi we stayed for 4 days and nights in this fabulous Bach, it reminded us of a Scandi design. It was fabulous. Everything we could possible need and more was in Bach. Loved the place. Very relaxing and very clean. Everything was as the pictures and as described. Could not have done anything more for us. We will be back. Service from Bach care was first class. Far better than the very poor service we suffer from here in Australia"

    "Avoid Bachcare at all costs! I often book holiday homes off bookabach and holiday houses, but this was the first (and last) time I've used Bachcare. A few things that I was unhappy with:
    1. Lots of hidden costs - admin fees etc. I paid for a very expensive cleaning and rubbish removal service but with their huge list of terms and conditions, I felt like I still had to clean the place.
    2. I booked in advance and as per the Bachcare instructions contacted the property manager in advance to ensure the spa would be hot for our arrival. Arrived to a freezing cold spa that took all night to heat up (the property manager claimed she put her hand in and it felt warm which is an absolute lie as it was colder than the sea temperature). As our booking was only two nights because of this we were only able to use the spa on one night.

    3. The property manager came round on our first morning, interrupting our family breakfast. I don't know why they need to do this but apparently this is normal practice for Bachcare. It's invasive and intrusive, and completely unnecessary.

    Bring back renting a bach off an honest kiwi family. It's a real shame that Bachcare have got a monopoly over some areas. I've also noticed some bookabach baches link to Bachcare once you click to book - and in doing so the price always rises significantly. False advertising.

    "I am shocked that this company has any positive reviews. Through a lack of choice in the Queenstown area i have had to use them a few times. I have never had a positive eperience with them. I would strongly recommend avoiding them at all cost.

    Just to give an idea of the problems we have had. Twice we have arived and called the number that we are asked to call only to not get an answer. Thjs means we have to sit and wait for the first few hours of your holiday. Then the properties are generally not cleaned to a high standard. Finally recently a few days after booking and over a month before we are due to arive we had to cancel a trip due to me breaking a rib and being told i will not be able to travel. There was no compassion at all. Actually i felt that they where overjoyed because they get to take $1500 from me for nothing.

    Please take my warning. Having been in business for years i have a knack for seeing a bad egg. This company really are shocking and if you want a pleasant holiday do not take the risk.

    "I found Batchcare really easy to book. The booking instructions were clear and easy to do, the amount to pay either upfront or in incriments made it accomodating and the bond amount was declared before booking confirmation. The hole process was a breeze and the batch itself was absolutely perfect for what we needed. Once we checked out the bond was also refunded only a couple of days later. No problems at all"

    "We have booked holiday accommodation in Hahei with Bachcare twice and John & Sarah have always been prompt in responding to communication. They have also been on time to let us in and show us around the properties and then return at the end of our stay to farewell us and collect the keys. Both properties were as described on the website, have been well cared for and supplied with everything we needed. We will definitely use their service in the future. "

    "We stayed at "Little Pearl of Vista Verano" - Mangawhai Holiday Home that was overseen by Kathryn. We were quite late in booking, in fact it was the morning of our first day. Kathryn phoned us with 15 minutes of our booking and gave us peace of mind. On our arrival and departure Kathryn arrived within 5 minutes of us texting her, very impressive service. Wouldn't hesitate in using Bachcare again for any holiday bookings.

    "We had a great stay at 'Kiwi Charmer' in Whangamata. It is in a great location, close to the beach and shops. The house was really comfortable, and there was a lot of indoor and outdoor space. Katrina was great; she was friendly and welcoming, and gave us useful information about the area. She also quickly and efficiently dealt with a plumbing problem to ensure it was immediately sorted. This property has a sleep-out, which is great for teenagers. "

    "We had a fabulous family holiday at this Buffalo Beach home, situated a few steps from the ocean, with gorgeous views of the bay. There is plenty of living space and excellent bathroom and laundry facilities. The kitchen contains everything you may need including a dishwasher. Outside, there are chairs, tables and a barbeque for outside dining. Lots of outside gear is available such as kayaks, lifejackets, boogie boards and outside games which we made use of and had lots of fun. I would highly recommend this holiday home."

    "We had a very pleasant stay at the Lodge over Christmas. Our whole family grandparents,parents & grandchildren ((17 in all) were able to be comfortable & the facilities were adequate for all of us to be housed & budded. The kids rode their bikes around the field which was newly mown .We recommend this as a great point to set off from around the Tongairio region."

    "Bachcare provides ridiculous service and charges handsome amount for the same (appx 40$). They don�t read your messgages seriously and instead confirm booking, asking to make the payment. Then sends you a gentle email that you cannot go ahead with the booking as planned and they cannot refund you the service fee. We had an instance where they cancelled our booking after payment. The reason provided was that they will only allow 1pet. Though, they charged us for 2pets. While making the booking enquiry it was clearly mentioned to them that we have 2pets coming with us for the holiday."

    "We used Bachcare for two bookings at different locations and both experiences were great. Good value accommodation, both of which were as described and perfect for our needs. We had a friendly bachcare rep meet us on arrival and departure at the times arranged. Our deposit was returned soon after our stay. We were happy with the service and would recommend them."
