My warehouse shovel has been taken, and no longer on our propertyMy large warehouse broom has been taken , and no longer on our propertyOur warehouse hacksaw has been taken , and no longer on our propertyOur office broom has been taken, I found it broken in half and left on the ground
They removed large external windows next to the worksite and used this as their entrance to the building for four months,… leaving the building, our stock and business completely unsecure and at risk. They ripped my warehouse door off and all our skirting, get asked what they are doing, They are pulling apart the wrong part of the building. A month later they put it back and repainted, but now I have parts of the office that don't match.Telephone cable has been pulled out of the wall and strung along our office at neck height, so our customers and ourselves have to keep ducking under it, it has been left there over a month, when asked about it and when they are going to put it back, I get told they didn't do it.Large windows at the place they are working collapse. Examining the site, on the Aluminium supports there are fresh impart marks in a line. I get told they didn't do it.Observing the council inspector visiting, and hearing the work being done is not correct and needs to be remedied and the site manager looking absolutely bewildered and clueless in the meeting. Then watching this being repeated again.I was told the work would be completed within 6 weeks, it is now 18 weeks and nowhere near finished. Tenants wanting to move in have given up waiting and gone else where causing $15,000 in loses to date and climbing every week with no end in sight.I chose this company as they were $1000 less than my other quote, and I have been absolutely punished for my mistake in choosing them and believing what they say. This has been a firsthand eye opening experience of what can go wrong with construction companies, the complete lack of interest in the problems they can cause and the impact it can have on your business.David
They work with cowboys and don't take responsibility for the work. We had to apply to disputes tribunal (hearing coming up in March).
You hire a big professional company and a project manager (PM) thinking that they will take the stress of a… renovation off of you, that they have the skills and connections, but this renovation has been one of the most stressful periods of my life. For a tiny kitchen, bathroom and laundry they had 5 weeks to finish, reasonable timeframe as agreed by them, and out of these five, the last 4 weeks we were oversees. The PM promised he'll update us and send us photos while we were away. He has never informed me about anything without me asking him first, and he has never sent one photo. My brother went there every weekend and sent me pictures and week after week the situation was more worrying. Every time the PM was saying that they'll finish before we come back. After the FOURTH WEEK we still didn't have gib on the walls because the whole project was held back by the plumber not showing up and there were so many days when there was no work on the house. We had to airbnb for another week until we could move back home and there were still bits and pieces that needed to be fixed or finished. The PM's attitude didn't help with our frustration either as his replies where in the lines of "I don't understand where this is coming from", "I don't control the sub-tradies", "I offered to deduct your $500 accommodation from the $34K invoice, what else do you want?", "We'll try to come sometime this week", "The plumber was a joke" and "I was too kind when I answered your call on a Saturday outside working hours" when I had called to tell him that the drain in the laundry was not up to code.Although the place was greatly improved, the work on the kitchen hardwood floor was very unsatisfactory, there were gaps between newly installed planks, big enough to see the insulation under the house; the two wall mounted taps were not symmetrical (8cm difference!!) on the vanity and also scratched; the brand new bath tub was scratched before we even got to use it; the toilet bowl was dirty with PVC pipe glue, and they left marks and scratches in the hardwood floor (the newly refurbished one and the rest of the house). I was promised a different plumber for the kitchen, but the same guy showed up.Considering the plumber's attitude and quality of work, we started doubting that he was even licences so we asked BCG for all tradies and sub-tradies licences and also a warranty certificate for the work they had conducted. I was told it was standard procedure with the company, but it took more than 3 months and dozens of emails exchanged to receive the paperwork. We have also asked for a $5000 discount for the unsatisfactory work and although they had admitted their fault, they didn't agree on the amount and insisted to repair the damage themselves. Because we didn't trust them and because we weren't willing to start another renovation, we ended up applying to the disputes tribunal. When we finally received the warranty certificate (after applying to DP) they told us that the wet area in the shower had not been waterproofed and that the tiler can't guarantee the work. Also, the rest of the warranty was for 12 months when under Builders Act we should be covered for 10 years. So now we're waiting for the Disputes Tribunal hearing in March.Based on how they handled this project and the situation we ended up in, I would qualify BCG as cowboys and I would recommend anyone to avoid working with them.
The one thing I like is, they're reliable and don't charge the earth, so I dont have to waste my time asking for multiple quotes from other vendors. You know that the quote that they give you is the right one and you're not getting ripped off.
I plan on buying do ups and would contact BCG in… future. Highly recommended.
Charles was always prompt in responding to emails, turned up on-time each day and did an extremely professional job.
I should also note, they had VERY reasonable pricing. Don\'t let a lack of english put you off these guys - they certainly know the trade and trade language :)
So, in short - I highly recommend brother painters for any plastering job (we were so happy with the job we are now getting them to do… our painting work too!)
