"Phoned over a month ago to arrange a quote, gave them 2 phone numbers and an email address but no one contact us. Called to complain was told Bruce does all the quotes.
If they did not want the job, just call and say so.
If would appear from the comments here we have had a lucky escape.

    "REVIEW: Bruce Moroney Electrical
Beware this company – PRICE GOUGERS
I asked for 10 pendant lights to be installed into existing holes in my ceiling where downlights were currently located, so the holes in the roof and the wiring were all in place. The electrician only had to go into the roof space for one light. A simple and quick job right?
They sent a pleasant elderly electrician, he told me he was due to retire. He was very slow and hesitant, it took him over 2 hours to get the first light up, he was asking if I had wood for him to use?! I should have realised then and rung the company to send another electrician, but I did not want to be rude or ageist!

I had the attachments (ceiling rose, cord, chain) supplied for another two lights by my light maker, who asked if I wanted him to finish putting it all together, but the electrician said “don’t worry, it will only take him a few minutes”. YEAH RIGHT…. The lamp holder was wrong, he told me where to go and pick them up, 3 hours of driving around Napier to the stores he suggested and the 3 electrical wholesalers in Napier said they do not have them available, apparently, they never do but they can be ordered in. I rung the guy in Hastings who supplied them, he had a couple so I went for another drive to Hastings to pick them up.

When I got back the electrician had left, he had taken 9 hours to put up 8 lights, the two small chandeliers had been put up without the crystals even attached. He did not discuss this with me but expected I would attach the crystals myself, up a ladder in an old villa with a 12 foot stud, I’m not good up a ladder. I tried but couldn’t do it.

So back he comes the next day, he took the two chandeliers down so I could attach the crystals. He had to attach the lamp holders to the other two lights and this all took him another 3 hours. Approx. 15mins of that 3 hours was spent looking at my security lights, he poked a few wires with his finger under a wall too. Of course, I was getting charged per hour for him to fix his own stuff ups.

I was billed a total of $1,000.00, for 12 hours work. I believe a different electrician would have finished this job much quicker and have cost me much less. They charge $69.50 per hour + GST. Plus $30 car money to drive the 2.2km to my house from their workshop.

I have tried to address my issues with Bruce Moroney, the manager/owner. He is not interested in my concerns and has threatened to take me to the claims tribunal if I do not pay. I had suggested I would pay for one day’s work, not the extra 3 hours for his electrician to correct his own stuff-ups. But Mr Moroney is not interested in this and wants his money.

I would recommend anyone wanting electrical work done to avoid them as they are price gougers. They are the type of company who gives tradespeople a bad name.

"Disputing invoice with them now; appears they have carried out unnecessary work, charged for longer hours than they were present and replaced very expensive parts that shouldn\'t have been replaced. Do not recommend at all. "

"Was quoted $300-350 to install a single power point. Got a bill for $500. We were home during the entire time the electrician was there and he never told us it was going to cost more, or why it cost more. Rang them twice to query the $150-200 increase on the quote and they said they would call me back but never did.

Do not recommend due to inaccurate quotes and poor communication.
