"We had a very dissapointing and dreadful experience with this company. We got our 4 bedroom home re carpeted prior to putting our house on the market. Already a stressful time selling a house with 3 chikdren and pets. We had to get the carpet layer back 3 times due to the appalling workmanship, the 2nd time he turns up announced, carried out the work anyway despite me telling him my toddler was asleep. Then leaves a sharp compass knife blade on the carpet and a pile of nails next to an unfixed metal join. All of this happening through open homes is extremely stressful. We made a complaint to 'management' which was not even acknowledged. They arranged a time to come and fix up the faults. A few weeks later we still had not received a final invoice, I was not going to chase them for it considering our experience, then to our shock we receive a text message of all things no email - a text message stating that if payment was not made within 5 days our carpet would be ripped up and re possessed up in the weekend. Absolutely gob smacked. A company that we thought was reputable displays this type of behaviour. Workmanship and customer service - appalling."

"I had read the previous comment/rating but decided to give Devon & Patterson the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, I ended up with the same experience with them. I selected the vinyl planks in advance (about a month prior to planned installation). But about a week before installation, I got a call saying the planks I had chosen (the colour of which was the basis for choice of kitchen bench tops, curtains, etc) were no longer going to be available. I immediately had to choose another one that was close in colour and style. The product did not make it in time for installation as it had to be ordered in and sent to Wellington. But they found out that a similar stock was available in their Tawa office, so they used that instead whilst the order was still in transit. Meantime, there were issues with getting installers in but, in fairness, they found good installers willing to work over the Easter weekend. (Only that meant I had to cancel plans for that long weekend). On the second day of installation, the hired installers reported that the product was defective, with planks (Moduleo) curling up and not sticking down. The hired installers decided it was best to stop installation at that point. Devon & Patterson explained it was probably due to how the planks had been stored in their Tawa office. They then had to track down the order that was supposed to be on the way. I then got a call saying the freighter had lost the shipment. But it eventually appeared and so installation was resumed. In the meantime, I had a scheduled trip overseas (which they knew about) which I had to move out because of delays. (They were still working on the day I flew out, so I had to ask someone to lock up the house for me). As a result of these delays, I had to shift out the work of other tradesmen (plumbers, tillers, etc). Overall, definitely not a very good experience with D&P. The plus side is that the planks do look nice, and the staff in the Johnsonville office are friendly. But when things go wrong, it seems it will be the fault of the supplier or the freighter. They, as the customer-facing business, will not compensate for that. Fair enough. I don't recommend them."

"I booked the job in February to fit in with renovations which were to be completed early April. First booking available was mid-April. I double checked a fortnight prior that the booking was still going ahead as planned. Two days before the booking they rang to say the carpet had been delayed and I had to wait a month. They also gave my booking away. We had no option but to pick a carpet that was available at short notice. D&P did the job, late, but to a really good standard. But only because I had to be very vocal."
