98%"We used Elderly Assist at two stages and are so glad we did. First they came to declutter and tidy and make the house look as attractive as possible for open homes. Then, two months later, they returned to manage the sorting and emptying of the house, the shift , the final clean and settling Mum into her new place. Carlos, Brian, Nicky and the team did the work with great self-direction. Despite the size of the job, they did not cut corners, and were careful to distinguish material that could… be separated for different types of recycling, items that charities would be interested in, items that could be sold through different routes by them on our behalf. This left as little as possible to go to landfill. They were obliging, totally competent in how to approach the myriad tasks, good at problem-solving, and were sensitive to our family needs over that time. Janice, superintended this smooth operation, checking in with me at points to see if it was working from our perspective. Our move occurred under urgency, and there was a lifetime of unsorted stuff in the family home. I was amazed to see everything unpacked and beautifully in place right down to their favourite trinkets on display in the kitchen and toiletries placed in the bathroom, the tv up and working, beds made, clothes all… organised. After more than 40 years of living in her home, it was a major job decluttering, packing, transporting, then unpacking all the treasured items in her life.
But somehow your team, headed by Jenny with amazing people and organisation skills, managed to leave an empty, sparkling clean 'old' unit and set up her new home beautifully… and invitingly for Maggie just to walk into. Somehow everything was fitted in to the new home in a way that looked good - and there was a lot to fit in!
The artistry demonstrated, coupled with practical placement of items, created a really cosy and welcoming look in her new home.

98%"Janice is supported by teams of highly professional, friendly and reliable workers who ensured that I followed Doctor’s orders to keep my injured leg elevated. Such a contrast to one of my prior moves when one leg was in plaster, I was on crutches and my helpers cancelled on the day after all my family had left for their schools and the movers came to play cards once the already packed boxes had been removed, while I packed and disturbed their game every time another box was ready.
Having… Elderly Assist felt like a reward for all the stress of that move as I knew just how bad it could be. And now Open Home days loomed with no family to help again, some marooned overseas thanks to COVID. Plus I was now a retired widow.
Janice’s teams expertly prepared my house for presentation and photos. The house was on the market for only 6 days. And then came back to help on settlement day for the move.
How wonderful to be told to leave my house when the removal truck arrived and not to turn up to my retirement village apartment for four hours. I just walked in to a transformed apartment, moving almost finished, just waiting my final approval and my new home was ready for occupation, complete with some yummy baking.
Janice’s records meant I could check on items put into storage for overseas family, or for the duration of home presentation. It was a pleasure to know women’s refuges would benefit from discarded items with salvaging. And Janice later visited to return valuable family items hidden inside my late husband’s now dismantled ancient filing cabinet. My visitors at the time commented on Janice’s integrity as well as her efficiency in the details.

Janice and her team from Elderly Assist were wonderful. Prompt personal service in the first instance, and absolutely wonderful follow ups. Visiting where Mum and Dad were moving to, checking what furniture would fit, keeping appointments, careful… packing and itemising, the list goes on.
Moving day was seamless, out of the old house, which was cleaned by them and into the new house, where even the beds were made by 2pm that day. The car is the garage, there is not a box left to unpack!

98%"I am the Executor for the Estate of a 97 year old woman who had no family and had lived in her Parent's home. Janice had a team of 4 equally hard working, efficient and cheerful people and this HUGE task was completed within 4 days-the sight of that empty clean house was overwhelming!
All suitable goods were delivered to the Charities of our choice or sold to a local Trader. Janice inventoried the hundreds of remaining,potentially valuable, Goods and Collectibles, and Cordys of Auckland arranged a special Auction Sale. This was financially very successful for the Estate. The majority of the Collectibles would have been unwittingly tossed in the Rubbish Skip had I been doing it on my own!!
All the proceeds received from these Sales are paid into the Estate, Janice does not charge Commission.
At all times Janice was respectful, ethical, sensitive, caring and kept me informed, or asked my opinion, when required.

100%"Elderly Assist was recommended to me by our neighbour (a GP) after the sudden unexpected death of our Mum. Dad decided he couldn't stay in the house alone and needed to move into care. Leaving a 4 bedroom house of 40+ years of memories (and plenty of "junk") not to mention a garage of tools and an underneath of the house that had stored anything and everything for "just in case". Janice and her team were invaluable. They knew what was valuable and what was not. Boxes… were put aside of items they thought would have sentimental value. In a short space of time the house was decluttered and ready to go on the market. Janice worked closely with the Real Estate agent to ensure the right furnishings were left. Once the house sold items were either sold on behalf, gifted or disposed of. Communication couldn't be faulted - we were kept informed daily initially of what had been done and later by email as things were sold. All was done within the quoted price but saved us so much stress and time. The Assist team works efficiently in full consultation and sympathetically with the customer to sort out what has to go and in my case managed the whole process of shifting. In addition they arranged disposal of surplus… items, with those of higher value going to a well-known auction firm.

Moving Assist provides a similar service to Elderly Assist to the general public and Clutterbusters helps our clients to deal with unwanted clutter.
What we do
Preparing your home for sale, downsizing, decluttering, packing, unpacking, organise the movers, liaise with Real Estate Agents, Solicitors and Power of Attorneys if family are not present.
Assistance with the sale of goods you don't want to take with you. We do not take a commission on the sale of the goods
Liaise with families overseas to assist their relatives find a retirement village.
