    "The layer, Stuart, did a lovely job, we had the whole house (3 bdrms) finished in 1 day which was great, our old carpet was lifted and disposed of for us so no worries about getting rid of it ourselves and the new carpet looks great, very pleased with it all. "

    "We had a very bad experience with Giles Carpets, they used a subpar contract layer with terrible results. They weren't helpful in rectifying the bad install either and said it wasn't that bad.
    I wouldn't recommend to anyone else nor will I use them again.

    "We had our entire 4 double bedroom house carpeted by Giles Carpets and were thoroughly impressed at such a fantastic professional job.... both the carpet and the installation team was the best available in New Zealand !!! Not only the 100% wool carpet but the highly skilled carpet layers that we allowed in our property - and totally unsupervised. The negative feedback placed by a Mr Singh - \"beggars belief\" For the record and for your website customers who read these reviews..... my wife and I are extremely fussy and have high expectations and values. Giles Carpets far exceeded our expectations and we would highly recommend his business to anyone out there. Not only was the service 100% but the price could not be beaten by any of the major carpet competitors who advertise on TV."

    "I used Giles Carpets 10 years ago to carpet our Auckland home. The carpet is great - lasted well and was good value for money! Then 5 years ago Kevin arranged his layer to make a special trip to Whangamata to carpet my bach - again, a great all round job and a very reasonable price. Now Im recarpeting my flat in Auckland and I know I dont need to bother getting another quote. THESE GUYS ARE GOOD!!

    "Kevin did not followed my instruction. Kevin did the stairs wrong. kevin did waterfall instead of bulls nose. Kevin laid very inferior quality of underlay. I gave Kevin a sample of underlay and he laid different underlay from my samle. Kevin told me I will have enough cut piece of mat for my door way. there wasn't enough I paid extra for that. Kevin is only good and will shake hand before sales after sales kevin becomes very rude nad nasty. Kevin is very unfrofessional, kevin has no knowledge of carpet and underlay though kevin is claiming 30 years of experience. Kevin cheated me. Kevin did not gave me what he has promised. Kevin has no knowledge of underlay. Kevin always influence you get a cheap underlay. Kevin never advises any customer porperties of underlay to his customer to choose. Kevin is most ignorant person and very unfaithful to deal with. Kevin has no principle and attitude. I will never deal wth Giles carpet or to recommend any one to him."
    Kevin responded:
    "Following a visit to our showroom this morning which Mr Singh followed up with yet another (his sixth) highly defamatory and insulting letter, we have determined that he will never be satisfied with any logical explanation to the issues surrounding the installation of carpet and underlay to his home in May. We have further decided that we will not enter into any further dialogue on these matters, and have arranged for the two metres of replacement carpet for the stairs to facilitate “bull-nosed” installation, new underlay for the entire job, plus a cheque for $1,180 to cover installation costs (based on our rates) to be delivered to Mr Singh. He can then arrange for installation himself as, although we have highly experienced and competent installers, we do not believe he will ever be satisfied. As we have tried to explain to Mr Singh on many occasions: 1. As per our invoice, signed and accepted, we were to supply 11mm (110kg) Foam Underlay. Our supplier mistakenly sent us (and invoiced us for) 11mm (130kg) Foam Underlay and rather than exchange it they agreed we should keep it. We thought he would have been thrilled to receive the better quality Underlay at no extra charge. 2. Following his insistence that we had deliberately cheated and supplied him with inferior underlay we had the supplier test it and it did transpire to be under specifications; it was the correct thickness but underweight – 123kg instead of 130kg. Although he was initially looking for 110kg underlay they have agreed to supply the full amount of replacement 130kg underlay. 3. Mr Singh is insisting that the carpet on the stairs be laid in a “bull-nose” fashion rather than the conventional “waterfall” fashion. As we have pointed out to him the stairs are constructed with insufficient nosing to give a satisfactory result as stapling will be hard to disguise, nevertheless we have agreed to supply the 2 metres of carpet required to do this. I have asked Mr Singh to please desist from sending letters containing highly misleading and insulting remarks about us, and to please also refrain from posting any more defamatory remarks on “NoCowboys” and other such sites. This company has been in business 28 years but we have never had to deal with anything like this before. "

    "approx 18months after the carpet was laid we noticed a discoloration of an area on the carpet. We had been using a bean bag of very high quaity on this area. I called Giles carpeting, who were not at all helpful . I purchased this Belgotex on their high recommendations. Eg totally colour fast, resistant to rot, mold mildew and that stains are very easily removed. We tried the recommendations of lrvine carpets(the importers) nil results.
    After 21/2months of shear hassle with both of lthe companys. (us doing most of the ringing to them. Giles carpets said they didnt have any more time to spend on this. Irvines told us to go to the insurance company. that this was not a stain but a reaction from the bean bag and the carpet. Luckily they agreed to replace the carpet for us. Was told if the insurance didnt want to replace the carpet to drop the iron onto it and make a burn then they would have to replace it. Very unhappy with the Service of both the companies, and extremely let down."
