The quote was very specific about the work that would be done including all the steps of preparation.
We had just had double glazed windows installed, so many of the outer wooden frames were a bit split and needed filling, etc, All of this was done with care and skill.… Everyone on the team was friendly and easy to have here, and each night they cleaned up and left things in a tidy state for overnight. Lee insisted on my checking the completed work carefully at the end in case there might be any slight flaws that could be rectified. 95%"Zoom and his crew have done an excellent job painting our house and extension, we're very pleased with it. He came on a strong recommendation from my brother-in-law, whose house he had just painted. Zoom quoted a good price for the amount of work required, and did not go over that when invoicing. Our house had not been painted for over 15 years, and required stripping back to bare wood. He and his team stripped and filled all of the gaps, and then primed timber and metal fittings. The builders… we had on-site at the time commented favorably on the thoroughness of the preparation. The paintjob was comprehensive and to a high standard. The job took longer than expected, but this was largely due to the very poor weather in November/December 2020, Xmas holidays and poor coordination from our end between Zoom and the building work. My brother-in-law told us that Zoom's crew painted their house in very short order, and when he and his crew were able to be on-site in good weather, they worked very hard and well.
In summary, Zoom did a good job for a good price and on time once other factors were taken into account. He and his crew are also a pleasant and good group of guys. We got them to paint a rental house for us (exterior), plus on our own home we got them to do both interior work and some exterior windows too. 100%"The Good Guys got in touch quickly and promptly issued me with a quote to paint part of the exterior of our Island Bay home. The communication leading up to the start of the job was great and they started on the agreed day. They did underestimate the paint required for the job but did supply the receipts for extra paint and showed us the empty paint tins. After completing they asked us to confirm we were happy with the result. On inspection there were some areas that required attention which… included paint that had leaked on to our courtyard from rollers they had left on half empty paint tin. To their credit they addressed the areas requiring better preparation on the exterior of the house and the spilled paint. We used this website to find a painting contractor to paint our 1950s character home. To find a painter I decided to get quotes from 6 of the top rated painters on No Cowboys - Zoom was the second to quote, he came around within hours and was very clear on what needed to be done. What stood out for me was how obviously service focused he is, asking what… we wanted to achieve and then giving us his professional opinion on how much work was required. To be honest I hoped his quote would be reasonable, because just from meeting Zoom I wanted to use his company.

Zoom's quote was very clear, everything outlined as expected and his price was comparable to two other company’s quotes. Three other companies gave quotes that lead me to believe they used gold plated scaffold as they were, in one case, twice the amount. So I was really happy we could use The Good Guys. As a side note, Zoom owns his own scaffold so there are none of those crazy weekly ‘scaffold maintenance’ fees some of the others will throw at you.
The painting went so well. They turned up when they said they would, they kept the place tidy, and they were so respectful and polite. Every member on the Good Guys team has the same positive attitude and we liked having them around. Each day we were told where they were up to on the painting, showed us what had been done and told us what they were planning to do the next day. As mentioned our house is an older place, so while taking the old paint off various boards were revealed to need work or replacing, not a problem, they changed their plans to suit the builder (Zoom has excellent builders he uses).
At the end of the job Zoom insured the property was tidy, even repainting a garden wall that showed some minor scruffs from scaffold. Incredible service.
