"if you looking for a cowboy plumbing business these guys are your go to. Absolutely useless. Came to fix a kitchen tap which had come loose. All he did was tighten it so it did not not swivel and left a 5mm gap between the tap and the cut out circle the tap fits into so water could get in there. Then they never sent a bill and a rather rude woman from the office called to ask why I had not paid it. The tap has now been fixed by a tradie I had in fixing something else and he isn't even a Plumber. He was shocked they charged me $132 for such a shoddy job."

    "eeks ago
have used Grant plumbing 6 times over the last 4 years for a rental property. in the past have always found them reliable and good - but this has all changed. In Nov we wanted 2 side by side water tobys repaired. They had done the same job (1 toby) in Mar 18 for $147 for 1 hr labour including parts. This time they charged for over 7 hours labour of 2 people. I was at the property for most of the time and there was no need to have an assistant trades person there, who mainly stood around doing nothing. I questioned this and they ignored my emails in dec and Jan. Finally got a call from the manager Jim. He was rude and disinterested. I had offered a fair solution paying only for 1 persons labour. I met with him and he talked over me, told me he didn't have time to read emails or reply, hadn't bothered to read anything i said and wouldn't justify the huge discrepancy. Told me about another client (insert racial slur) who moaned about every bill too and then talked over me when i said this is the first time we have questioned a bill. Very poor service. Will never use them again and recommend no one else does either

"I just want to publicly thank Grant Plumbing for an amazing service - our kitchen tap broke a couple days before Christmas.... thank you Grant Plumbing for giving us immediate service squeezed into your last minute rush before Christmas, and then when I got the wrong info and bought the wrong tap, that you came back and replaced the new one with the newer one! All in that Christmas break. I was so grateful. The work-womanship and friendliness from Andrea, the awesomest plumber who scrambled up the bank and under the house with me to find a toby that didn't exist (has since been cut into the pipe work by the council - so it was never there to be found!), was second to none. Thank you Andrea for your patience, skill, and tenacity. Thank you Grant plumbing for realising taps still break over Christmas!"

"Absolutely terrible company. Poor communication, will leave you waiting. Promises to be contacted by a certain time were routinely broken. We waited 2.5 weeks of back and forth before being told by 'the manager', that they don't vouch for the gas fitters (they essentially are a contracting firm), and that the guy didn't want to do the work. Rude, bad communication, never hire these people unless you want to waste your time and money."

"we have used this company for many years off and on. However, a job carried out, a number of years ago, on internal gugerting, on our rental has become an issue, which has only come to light recently, after, dare I say, we even resorted to a new roof. Last year, after a storm/ earthquake, we also contacted the firm to come and check out a leak that had appeared in our residentail property, .. but we heard nothing from them, whatsoever. However, its the rental property we have the issue with, as teants have mentioned the flooding in the garage, and its only now, that the property is vacant, we have had time to actually look at the property thoroughly and ascertained the problem. So today I thought i would ring the firm, explain the problem.

The receptionist was lovely, but Jim, the owner, was an absolute tosser. He was rude, and even though we had anticipated we would get them to do more work for us, we decided it was time to sever the relationship with this company. NO WAY WOULD WE RECOMMEND them the way things stand.

Dishonest, greedy and devious are few words to describe these people. Accountant Aaron Picking tried to bully me into paying for the time, services and assistance didn't require, requested or quoted to fix our burst water mains! Owner of the business, Jim is rude and racist.

"I used this firm for replacing a burst water main on my small, flat property, and for digging a trench and laying 15 m of flexible piping, as well as some pointless attempts to fix the old rusty pipe, I was charged a total of $2300 for 30 hours of time (2 days work for 2 plumbers). I argued it was excessive and paid part of the bill and they took me to dispute. Don't use this firm, they overcharge and are unreasonable."

"Job was estimated to take 3 hours. Charged for 8 hours, plus $75 for certification. Then although 'certified' he left a gas leak which had to be fixed. They agreed it was excessive and changed to 5 hours. We deducted 3 hours at $70 plus GST then they billed us again for a further $80 - no explanation.
We had used them twice previously on recommendation, and had been very happy, however never again.

"I had to get someone in on Sunday morning to fix a broken pipe. The first phone call was answered promptly. The plumber on call then rang me and said he would be there in between 1 and 2 hours. He actually arrived about 21/2 hours later. The job took less than 30 mins. I have been charged for a full hour. He re connected the water but failed to check the pressure inside the house and I realized after he had left that I needed to clear air in the pipes. I dont feel this was very thorough."

"Called in an emergency on a Sunday morning and had Aaron come over within a couple of hours. He found the problem after poking around a bit and sorted it out quickly. He recommended some changes, which we agreed to. He left a gaping hole of wet gib, which needed to be fixed. Grant Plumbing sent a builder over two days later to fill the hole. Despite the original builder having his vehicle break down, the (replacement) builder arrived shortly after the time booked, and replaced the gib. The very next day, Aaron came back and finished off the plumbing job, implementing all the recommended changes. The final bill arrived this week and it was exactly as expected. Communication was friendly and professional throughout the process."

They arrived at the time they said they would; unfortunately, he spent 25 minutes or so \"fixing the problem\" and left. However, half an hour later our toile was leaking and water was overflowing. Called them back in and they took their time to respond; the price they charged was ludicrous!"

"We have dealt with Grant Plumbing twice now, both in the same year to fix the same problem (simple running toilet). They did not guarantee the work they did several months earlier. The plumber spent 5 minutes fixing the problem again and I got a bill for nearly $100! When I phoned them to complain they would not back down and said the bill stood, even though they did not tell me what it would cost at the beginning. Overall, extremely poor communication, totally inflexible and appallingly overpriced. With shocking customer service like this I\'m surprised they are still in business!"

"I used to use Grant plumbing on jobs in my capacity as a builder. They were good at their respective work. Unfortuntely, after finding out from one customer on what they had charged, I contacted them as they had over charged by a fair ammount. This happened again on another job to. It came to the crunch when they had screwed up a simple job at my own house. I knew what I wanted to have it fixed, but ended up arguing for an hour with the manager. They did the work I wanted and it worked?? They tried charging me for their fix up. Never use them again. I use Aquatic plumbing now, and they are brillliant."

"We had two guys on the job- Bruce & Mark.

The job was to install a new mains water pipe and replace and install a new instant hot water system. I got a quote for the hot water system and I found the same item cheaper at Mitre10 Mega saving over $400.

I was running short on time and I needed to get hot water to my house. Mark was the nice one who took the time explain what was being done, what needs to be done and why. Bruce was very grumpy with shocking customer comunications skills. For example shouting at my pregnant wife when she asked a simple question when she did not understand what Bruce explaining. He stormed off thowing he\'s tools on the floor leaving Mark (the nice one) in awe.

Today, we had a drain layer over on an unrelated matter (or so it seemed) as our drains were blocked. Well it appears that the drains may be blocked in part due to shoddy workmanship - they failed to replace a crucial peice of piping hence causing a bottle neck in the plumbing system. They also sealed off a mains water pipe using duct tape instead of a proper cap - when the duct tape gives out we will have an unintentional water feature in our garden....... They have also positioned the toilet pipes in an inappropriate position. On top of this, rather than installing a small piece of pipe, they cemented in the pipe to the drain! This had to be broken up today by the drain layer in order to unblock the drains.

It also appears that they charged a significant amount of money by doing a job ($900) that didnt need doing. They had us believe that it was compulsory to replace our 80mm toilet piping to 100mm piping, when in fact 80mm piping is adequate.

We are very very unhappy customers of Grant Plumbing and most certainly will never use them again.

"When I rang Grant Plumbers I was told that they charged 1 hr minimum at $56 per hour plus GST, & $20 plus GST for the vehicle. I was present for the entire time that the 2 plumbers worked. They took 35 minutes to complete the job. They repaired a leak to a header tank on my rental property. My tenants were satisfied that the leak had stopped. I was charged for 1.5 hrs work ($84 plus gst) & the vehicle ($20 plus gst) & materials ($42.50 plus gst). So I have been overcharged by 30 minutes & the replacement part should have cost around $33 including gst. In my opinion Grant Plumbing have overcharged me . I won\'t be using them again."

"Mixed feelings about this company. The job we hired them for was to reinstall a toilet onto a newly tiled floor and lift a second toilet, then to reinstall that onto a newly tiled floor on a subsequent visit. Their prices per hour and the van charge are, I feel, reasonable and comparable to other plumbing companies, but I felt that being invoiced for four hours seemed a bit excessive. And I did complain about the initial visit as the tradesman turned up and didn't appear to have been briefed about the job - he didn't have a tile drill with him so left again to go back to the workshop. I then had to ring the next day to complain as the reinstalled toilet was leaking, and they had to come back to fix it. I suspect I may have been charged for the return trip, but I'm not I said, four hours seems excessive, but then...I'm not a plumber, and I was unable to be present to witness the job. Also, "materials" seems a bit high as I'm not sure what materials were used to reinstall existing toilets. All in all, I'm happy with the final job, as in both loos seem to be installed and in working order, I just question the lack of detail in the invoice, and the competence of the tradesman that was sent (I requested a different one be sent to attend to the leaking toilet). Their communication was non-existant. They say they will ring before coming, and they didn't. Also, I never heard back after the leak, and when I questioned why it took so long for him to do the job in the first place."

"Terrible company to deal with! The quote was cheap but so was the work. Full bathroom renovation installed new toliet which blocked frequently after they installed it. And now the sink taps are leaking surprise surprise! When I called to have them come back telling them the toliet was blocking badly after they had installed it was told it was just a blocked toliet and nothing to do with the install job. WRONG! They had not put eough slope on the outside waste pipe so all the paper and everything else was sitting in the pipe and not draining away. The smell was stomach turning but the response from grants was \"it didnt happen because of our work\". They installed the toliet therefore it is their work that caused the issue. Had to get a second company to complete the job leaving me very out of pocket. Will not use them again and would never recommend them to anyone. The staff are rude foul mouthed and sloppy.
