"This is feedback is far from the truth- As always there is two sides to a story so here is our version. The job was quoted and completed in Early 2017, the quoted work included removing an existing retaining wall, vegetation, rebuilding the retaining wall and new steps to the top of the wall and also another small retaining wall at the front of the property and some paving work, most of the work carried out was at the rear of the property close to the boundary, the quote was for $22,000.00 which was a fair price considering the scope of the work, an was accepted by the clients. After the initial excavation process and the retaining wall mark-out Erica and Michael decided they wanted to push the retaining wall much closer to the boundary, the neighbouring section has a hill of about 100m sloped towards the area we carried out the works so as you can imagine there is a large volume of run-off from the neighbouring property especially through the winter months so at the time our advice was to completely remove an old dilapidated concrete patio in front of the new wall to have an adequate drainage system with new cesspits installed to help with the water run off issue, thus allowing the drainage behind the wall to be connected accordingly and to replace the concrete with appropriate falls however, this was declined by the clients. We continued on with what was quoted and installed a 110mm perforated Nova-coil drain and backfilled with about 6-7m3 of 50/20 Scoria which ran the length of the new wall approx. 23m in length, there was never any mention of plastic in conversations or on the quote. The concrete was re-patched in front of the wall also against our advice. The water leaking has occurred as you would expect in the middle of winter which confirms that the nova coil drain behind the wall couldn’t completely take care of the amount of run off from the neighbouring property. We completed the work in a timely manner to a high standard, the steps were completed to the top of the wall as per the quote, we have photos of the entire job from start to finish during the build process and numerous emails in regard to the drainage. We were asked to come back later in 2017 to do more work which was about $8000.00 worth. There is no way this is our mistake and is not something for us to rectify, we gave our advise which was ignored so basically the work that the drain-layer needs to do now should of been done to start with, perhaps this may of been a better idea after all to invest in rather than spending a ridiculous amount on piping a stream that runs through the property.....
