"I would just like to say how happy we are with your company. From the first time I met you I had immediate confidence in you. And now having had you do the work at our home we are thrilled with the end result and the attitude of you and your boys, they were great also. We know our floors were a challenge and we never expected to be so pleased with the end result. Thank you very much we have no hesitation in recommending you to our customers"

"Brendon gave us a price and was on time with his start date. We went away for the weekend and came back to a finished floor. There was however quite a bit of grit over most of the floor. Brendon said it was very windy and some dust may have blown in. Looks like it was either not very well dusted out or in the polyurethane. I told Brendon and I was pleasantly surprised when he said he would resand the floor and apply another coat. This was done immediately and without any questions. I was pleased at not having to argue over this and his professionalism in dealing with it was refreshing. Well done Brendon and thanks for a good job. Recommended!!!"

"Prior to removing our carpet and having our floors sanded by Harbour Floorsanding I found it very difficult to breathe as I have asthma. After Brendon and his team came to do a marvelous job on our floors I saw an immediate improvement in my health.
Harbour Floorsanding was extremely patient in answering the countless questions I had and took time to explain the range of finishes available. Throughout the entire job I was confident that it would result in a job well done. We had no idea our floors could look so great!

Not only does this renovation increase the value of our house but it also provides a healthier living environment for our family.

    I highly recommend Harbour Floorsanding.

"We found Harbour Floorsanding very helpful in answering my many questions about the process involved and also about what steps we had to take to prepare the floor. Good information was given to us in how to care for the floor afterwards. The end result was fabulous and we highly recommend Harbour Floorsanding to do a professional job."

"We have used Brendon\'s services for two of our homes now and we are 100% satisfied with the excellent results we got from this company. Fantastic prompt service and competitive pricing, these guys are brilliant and I would recommend them without hesitation. They are professional and know their stuff. We wouldn\'t consider using anyone else and will definitely be giving Brendon a call if we need any more floor sanding done in future. They fully deserve their excellent reputation.

"We accepted a quote from Harbour Floorsanding to sand and apply polyurethane to the ground floor of our home.
When the job was finished we were dismayed to find numerous places where the sander had dug into the cork and that the polyurethane had equally badly been applied: marks where the roller had been were everywhere to be seen. The overall effect was very patchy.
On complaining, Brendon the owner said another sanding and coat of polyurethane would fix the problem. He did this himself, but the situation has not improved.

Basically, the two guys who did the sanding job seem to be inexperienced with cork floors. Cork is very hard on top if it has had polyurethane applied, but becomes soft when the top layer has been sanded off.

The floor is ruined as far as we can see. The whole job has to be done all over again, although to do this it has to be established that the cork is sufficiently thick to allow this.

We are now in a position worse than before the job was done and have asked Harbour Floorsanding to refund the 50% initial payment. (which they haven\'t done)

They say that the flooring was inexpertly sanded by ourselves many years ago and that we applied the polyurethane far too thick. Our comment on this is that we never used a machine to sand the floor, everything was done by hand and there was definitely not too much polyurethane applied.

They said they can not be held liable for the blemishes that could not be sanded out (there were hardly any) and that we can use the balance of monies owed to rectify whatever issue we believe there to be. They also say that we are both out of pocket for this job and they will not be corresponding with us further on this matter. They see the matter as finished.

    Brendon responded:
"Kasper: You told me that you used a machine 35 years ago as when I came to do the quote you said it was old and made a lot of dust! You commented on how good our machines were and that you never used a buffer machine when you saw ours – so you never achieved a fine finish 35 years ago! Your thick coats of polyurethane had concealed the damage you had done by sanding and coating it yourselves 35 years ago – you were inexperienced! You say there were hardly any blemishes, which means that there were blemishes – so you’re admitting that there were blemishes already – by us sanding it, it only made evident the destruction you did to the floor 35 years ago. We could only give you the best job possible with what we were given to work with. To the “so-called” Floor Sander who offered a second opinion: You should act on a professional level rather than personal. Your so-called second opinion is slander and defamation and advising people to complain about us on No Cowboys – twice now, to make yourself seem more important is negligent. You are not a floor sander; you merely own a floor sanding company; whereas I own my company and I also carry out the work. We’ve been actively sanding for 12 years in NZ and Australia. We’re fully NZQA qualified through the Flooring association and completed a 2 year apprenticeship, not just certified, there is a substantial difference. If you minded your own business, we’d be able to sort these out, yet you insist to try and ruin our company by putting in your two cents where it’s not required, ultimately making the situation seem much worse than it really is. Why can’t you be happy for a fellow floor sander doing well in their profession – we should be helping each other out rather than bringing each other down. We’ve worked extremely hard to be where we are today and we can’t help that we are approachable, professional and competitively priced and that we are the preferred by customers. We always look for the good in an old floor. Our work and references speak for themselves. No Cowboys: Disgusting service! You allow for one-sided comments without verifying between both parties’. As of the end of the month, we will no longer be associated with you. If you want to know how a real website works, go and see our profile on www.builderscrack.co.nz/reviews/zb38t8. It\'s too easy for competitors to advise customers to leave bad feedback, in our case twice now, from the same person. Get better checks and balancing in place!"

"Be WARNED - I wouldn\'t recommend using this company."
    Brendon responded:
"The customer was very pleased with the job and paid for it happily on completion. Two weeks later the customer contacted me to say that they could see waves in their floor. When we finished and left the job it was 100 better than it was to start with as it was previously dilapidated cork and the subflooring was sub-standard/uneven which had also been hidden under a rug. We can only deliver a result based on the initial product - We are limited by the condition of the floor as to the finish achieved. Sanding and finishing a timber floor is a skill acquired over many years. Bear in mind that, as all the work is done by hand controlled machines and applicators, there may be evidence of this in the floor. As you live on the floor it will gain character and a feel that is unique to your home. This is all part of the beauty of owning a timber/cork floor. We are a reputable business and have many happy customers on our website: http://www.harbourfloorsanding.co.nz/content/testimonials As well as on BuildersCrack.co.nz: http://builderscrack.co.nz/reviews/zb38t8 It is unfortunate that this rating has affected our overall percentage on NoCowboys as it is defamatory and a complete misrepresentation of Harbour Floorsanding Limited."
