100%"My first contact with Inquest was months before I actually engaged them to provide the first of six verbal building reports on different properties (over the last year) and I was so impressed with Jodi’s friendly demystification of what I was finding a difficult process to navigate it was a no brainer for me to call back when I found somewhere I wanted to make an offer on.
During this time, I’ve come to rely on Adam’s expert knowledge and our conversations have given me the confidence… to make risk-based assessments (eg. possible asbestos issues, small structural issues etc) ahead of making offers (or deciding not to). In one instance, the day before submitting an offer the Agent had to disclose that another potential buyer had alluded to under floor water issues found by their builder but (the potential buyer) wouldn’t give any details. Having already had a full and frank discussion with Adam, I felt comfortable ignoring this as noise, when in other circumstance it would have made me question putting an offer in.

I'm a Kiwi currently overseas, so what I needed was more demanding than just a regular report, given I could not see the property in person. Overall, I concluded that Adam and Jodi are truly excellent, and I would strongly recommend their services without any hesitation. The report which Adam provided was very thorough and detailed, and provided an excellent… basis upon which to engage with the vendor. 100%"I love Inquest. I was referred to them by my attorneys when I was purchasing a home from the US and had to do everything over the phone. I bought a home sight unseen so it was an overwhelming experience as well as trying to move to a new country. I really needed great people to help me through home inspection. Jodi was incredibly helpful on first call and responded so fast to whatever questions I had. Adam walked me through report and answered all my questions. I have since moved to NZ and… bought 4th home all of which inspected by Adam and he will be my go to person for all future inspections. I have had last minute inspection requests, questions they have responded to fast and accommodated days I needed them to be onsite. I will not work with any other but Inquest. They are professional, honest, hardworking duo who have enormous knowledge and experience in home inspection. I've walked properties with Adam and picked his brain about repairs, costs etc and he's always very honest and helpful in explaining issues and giving you his perspective if it was his purchase. The reports are detailed, easy to understand. Home inspection reports are not the easiest, shortest or the most fun to read but a must read when buying a home. To have report that is laid out in a way an ordinary person can sift through to the issues fast is incredibly helpful. I think if you want a home inspector that you can actually understand and not be overwhelmed by all the lingo Adam is your person. The best part is as he doesn't do the work he is inspecting so you know that you are getting independent advice.

It uncovered quite a few issues that weren't in the vendor's own builder's report. Adam also jumped on a few calls with us and explained some of the issues in great detail, which gave us the confidence about our decision to purchase the property. Inquest Limited - Property Inspections and Building Consultancy has not given us their exact location, but they are based in Lyall Bay
But what really set Inquest apart for me was the degree of follow-up Adam provided. Having read his report, I had a (long!)… list of questions and Adam kindly gave up his lunch hour to sit on the phone with me and clarify them all. As a first home buyer who struggles to know which end of a hammer is which, this was absolutely invaluable.
"They're not the cheapest option we found (although that was partly because we were in such a hurry), but the level of service more than justifies any extra cost. I wouldn't hesitate to use Inquest again and would particularly recommend them to first home buyers who don't have much building knowledge, as a debrief from Adam will demystify a lot of things as well as giving you the beginnings of a maintenance program for your new house going forwards.
