60%"We were surprised to be charged a total of $257.26 to have a washer replaced on our kitchen hot water cylinder. The materials and labour amounted to $89.41 and the travel time and vehicle charges amounted to $167.85 (incl. GST). We live in Morrinsville and have used J T Carter Plumbers in Te Aroha for the last 2-3 years. We have found all the plumbers very efficient and pleasant. We have recommended them to many people in Morrinsville. It would be good if J T Carters could allow a concession… to Morrinsville customers by seeing as many as possible on the same day and apportioning the travel time and vehicle charges between them. 50%"Cant recommend. Was charged $172 to put a $24+gst seal in the oven which took 30 seconds to do.
Tradesman extortion at its best. I would recommend getting a written quote as i was told $24+gst for the seal and nothing else.
When asked to reconsider invoice company claims they have a minimum labour charge & that technicians have to pay for there own courses.

If that was the case then you would think they would advise this when booking - I was advised they would do it when "over… my way" - implying saved travel costs.

100%"Excellent experience with this firm. Replaced old concrete tank with 2 new ones in a different location. Placed the new tanks exactly where I asked and installed the pump in an existing shed. Lots of new piping and wiring. Along the way discovered problems with the septic tank, which were resolved without fuss.
Really pleased that the attitude was to get even the unforeseen things sorted and make sure that I was left with everything working system.
Excellent communication with all the… staff, and really impressed how they responded to requests.
This job ended up with quite a few "extras" arising, which some tradies might have seen as an opportunity to add to the profits. But the final bill, though more than the original quote, was very reasonable for what actually had to be done, and I was entirely happy.

I normally get 2 or 3 quotes but the first 2 plumbers I rang, said their going to be a week before they could get to me and another week to do a quote. Then I rang JT Carter Plumbers who were also very busy but they managed to fit me the following day. Duncan met me on site and was very thorough. A couple of days later I had the quote, which I excepted and the job was done 5days later. My wife and I are very happy customers and will be getting… them back to do some more work in next couple of months. My inlaws recently used them as well and are just as happy with the service they received. So now I've got them permently booked in my contacts and if anybody needs a plumber, I tell em JT Carter plumbers.

100%"this company were able to do the job the same day, they rang to confirm when they would be there, and arrived on time at the dental practice. I was impressed with the way Duncan made sure he didn't disturb patients, eg. he opened and closed doors carefully as he went in and out. He was thorough and methodical, and still managed to complete the job within the first hour. Also provided drainage plans for the practice, in case further work was needed at any stage, without being asked to.
He… happened to be the same person to return 2 weeks later to a second premises, and did a similar good job.

About us
J T Carter Plumbers LTD was established by John Thomas Carter in November 1952 and was a sole trader until his son John Edmond Carter started his apprenticeship in the early 1960’s.
John Edmond took over the company some years later and broadened the company’s horizons by taking on more staff with the vision of providing “unrivalled customer service and quality of workmanship” to Te Aroha and surrounding districts in the Plumbing, Gasfitting & Drainlaying industries. J T Carter Plumbers soon took on some major contracts, the largest of these was the Te Aroha (town) sewer system contract which was held for some time.
Current Managing Director Peter Carter the youngest son of John Edmond Carter joined JT Carter Plumbers in 1993 and served his apprenticeship before gaining his Certifying papers in Plumbing and Drainlaying and took over as Managing Director in 2009. Since becoming managing director Peter has managed to carry on this tradition of Unrivalled customer service and quality of workmanship.
Our latest venture is to take our vision of “unrivalled customer service & quality of workmanship” to Hamilton and launch our new branch, which is Managed by Duncan Leask, who has been in the plumbing, gasfitting & drainlaying trades for 10 years and has wealth of experience throughout these trades due to plying his trade in different countries over the years.
Together, Peter, Duncan & the team at JT Carter Plumbers are taking our vision to new heights by stepping up our service to another level, we strive to succeed in solving your problem with as little disruption to you as possible, while still maintaining our unrivalled standards.
Over the years JT Carter Plumbers have supported the trade immensely by training over 30 apprentices through their Trade, we pride ourselves on having quality staff and highly trained individuals in our team, without them we couldn’t be the company we are today.
We are proud supporters and sponsors of a number of local sports teams and charities, we have been involved in fundraising for a local event centre, numerous sport clubs and we have the view that giving to the community gives back along the way.
JT Carter Plumbers were also the runner up in the 2015 Waikato Master Plumbers- Company of the year award. We find this very fulfilling as we pride ourselves on being members of the Master Plumbers Association for many years.
