"I can not recommend Karl and his team highly enough. As a first home owner and first time renovating Karl put me at ease. His communication was great, gave good advice and always checked in with me if I was happy or had any questions.

The quote was very detailed and clearly explained was and wasn't included. Karl and his team turned up when they said they would, protected the floor well, did a great job demo-ing the kitchen, retrofitting insulation and regibbed including fixing up a few surprises, plastered and painted. "It's scary trying to find someone to build your home - it's hard to tell if you've hired someone that talks the talk but can't walk the walk. When Karl starts you know he's a professional through and through. He is honest, reliable, *highly* skilled, hard working, and goes well out of his way to ensure you get the highest quality build while doing what he can to save you money.

Karl was given a very sketchy design to work from (due to my picking a poor architect), and he helped take conceptual ideas and refine them so they would hold up in real life, while pointing out ways to save time and cost when the council demanded alterations. He managed all the sub contractors and he never tried to pass the buck on to someone else - even if someone else stuffed up, he'd be chasing them up, making sure that things got rectified and fixing all the many problems that came up.

Nothing was ever too much, he always has time to discuss ideas and what's happening, and will gladly explain his reasoning behind any decisions that are made - all very transparent. He was very considerate of our situation at home too, our three year old adores him, and will be sad to see him go!

I would recommend Karl and his team without hesitation, and hope that I have the opportunity to work with him again in the future."

"Karl Fowke and his associate Matt have been working on our house for several months and have done a fantastic job! Karl is a licenced builder and been in the industry for years. Both Karl and Matt were always professional, polite, hardworking, reliable and they produced work of a very high standard - and they always cleaned up and vacuumed at the end of every day!

Both Karl and Matt went the extra mile to fix things or find solutions to problems that we had through the building process. the results of their work were excellent and I would recommend them to anyone wanting an honest, hardworking builder to complete their work. KF Builders are reasonably priced and excellent value for money. Karl also has many contacts of other trades that you might need to finish the job such as plumbers, tilers, etc.

Don't be concerned if Karl cannot quote you on your job. It's because he cant always predict what he will find behind your walls or in your ceiling etc. so he can't predict exactly how long the work will take. But rest assured that Karl will work as quickly as possible to fix any problems that you have in your building - so it ends up being money well spent to have a well built, well maintained house to live in. We found the rough estimates that Karl gave us to be fairly accurate on time and cost, and he worked within our budget constraints.

KF Builders worked for us both inside and outside our house, completing building work and landscape gardening over several months. the long list of work they completed included;
rectifying some "dodgy" work done by previous owners which included re-piling some sections of the floor under the house, reinforcing ceiling beams where walls had been taken out, fixed leaks in our roof and replaced sections of the roof, removed old wardrobes in our 1920's villa and built 3 new wardrobes complete with sliding doors, completely renovated the bathroom and laundry, rebuilt the laundry to enclose it behind 3 sliding doors and built storage there as well, replaced 3 internal doors with custom built doors, sourced and replaced 1920 style ceiling tiles, built a custom-made window seat with storage underneath, built floating shelves in the living room, prepared the front patio for glass panel installation, installed new front door with side panels of glass, built and installed other features designed by us, such as a bed head nailed to the wall.

"Karl and his team-mate, Justin, answered our "call" for someone to re-do our leaning retaining wall in a very small backyard, with the added challenges of : a)having no access to any heavy machinery, and b)surface water run-off during heavy downpours.

"Are you happy?", was one of the questions Karl would frequently ask over the course of the project; thus giving the opportunity to give feedback to him.

We are happy that he:
* is quick to response to our request for a quotation;
* answers his mobile whenever possible;
* schedules the logistics/supplies timely so that the site is not cluttered up;
* turns up daily and consistently puts in the number of hours to work, in our case--physical labour;
* plans and carries out the project in a systematic manner, thus saving resources;

"A couple of months ago we found Karl off this site. We wanted to move a wall and a window to create a new room , put in a new bathroom, build a sleep out, create a laundry, plus numerous other things. Karl was just fantastic right from the start. Karl completed on time (just three weeks!!) and under budget. Nothing was to much trouble, he had good advice, did an amazing job and cleaned up after himself!! During 2004 we did a major alteration to our retail premises on Mt Eden Road.
This consisted of developing an unusable two storey basement and creating a sub basement area for storage and a second retail floor out of the space.

Being an old shop, originally built in 1915 this created a number of problems some of which only became obvious during the construction.

During the whole process we found Karl worked well with us.. He was good at keeping us informed and dealt well with any issues or problems as they arose.
