5%"I used KC Home Builders for two bathroom renovations in mid 2016. The renovations were scheduled to take 3-4 weeks. Originally things started out well with good communication and work progressing as planned, however it wasn’t long before things started to go wrong.
To start with the floor in the one bathroom wasn’t recessed for the shower. They also forgot to put a recess in the wall for a shelf in the shower. As a result, the floor in one bathroom is about an inch higher than the… floor in the hallway. The wall in the adjoining bedroom was damage installing the shelf in the shower. Nails also came through the wall into the hallway.
There were on going issues with the tiler whose work was of a very low standard. The tiler had to return multiple times to fix mistakes he has made, which delayed progress with the renovations. Despite my concerns Kishor insisted on continuing to use the tiler. I ended up buying extra tiles which cost me extra money so the tiler could retile areas he had gotten wrong. In hindsight I shouldn't have paid for the extra tiles, this cost should have been carried by the tiler or Kishor. There are still parts of the tiling which aren’t right.
There were problems with the gibstoppers who also did very poor work resulting in bubbles in all the plastering work. When sanding the plaster the gibstoppers scratched all the chrome work around the tiles, scratches which can’t be polished out. In the end I insisted Kishor use someone else to rectify the problems with the plastering. Kishor complained about the extra expense, something which could have been avoided if he had used a decent gibstopper in the first place.
After the problems with the tiler and the gibstoppers there were problems with the plumber. There were at least four attempts to get the showers to stop leaking. The multiple attempts of fix the leaks indicated Kishor didn’t really know what he was doing and it was more a case of trial and error to figure out what the problem was. One of the showers leaked through the floor into the ceiling of a downstairs bedroom. A hole was cut in the ceiling to figure out where the leak was and to replace the wet section of ceiling. After all that I’m not confident the showers won’t leak again in the future. When the shower glass was installed the freshly painted walls were damaged. I had to fill and sand and repaint the damage walls.
There was also an issue with the bath not draining properly due to the way it was installed, the plumber obviously didn’t check his work to see if the bath drained. I fixed this problem myself. The plumber also installed a sink with a broken waste pipe. Again, this obviously wasn’t checked, if the plumber had checked the sink he would have noticed water running through the cabinet instead of the pipe as it should have. When the toilets were installed one of the toilets leaked and neither was fixed to the floor. I had to ask several times for the plumber to come back and fix the toilets to the floor.
Kishor took little or no responsibility for the subcontractors he employed and would often pass the buck leaving me to deal with the subcontractors. The only subcontractor I didn’t have problems with was the electrician who did a great job.
During the renovations Kishor’s builders used my cleaning equipment including one of my storage cubes to remove rubbish. The storage cube is now damaged beyond repair. One of my internal doorways was damaged which required me to fill, sand and repaint the doorway. The transition strip between the tiles and the carpet went unfinished for so long I ended up doing them myself, something which was supposed to be part of the renovations. The gibstoppers used my vacuum to vacuum up the plastering dust which is no good for vacuums. Someone used some cot sheets out of my linen cupboard as a drop cloth when plastering the ceiling. Rubbish was left lying around under the house and on the side of the driveway. There are concrete splashes on the driveway and the side of the house. I repeatedly asked Kishor to remove the rubbish and do something about the concrete splashes. The rubbish was eventually removed however nothing has been done about the concrete splashes. There were also issues with repairing holes to external walls which were repaired as per the original agreement.
I have further renovation work which needs completing however even the prospect of further work didn’t motivate Kishor to get the first two bathrooms right or fix his mistakes. As a result of Kishor’s work I have had to repaint one bedroom wall, and I need to repaint ceiling in another bedroom, the hallway and I will need to repaint the side of the house to cover the concrete splashed. There is no easy solution to the scratched chrome work in the bathrooms or to fix the tiling work that isn’t right. All the extra repair work is being carried out at further cost to me.
There were several occasions when Kishor told me he had to go and take care of another job which was more important.
Kishor is a friendly and personable guy however the renovations were poorly planned and poorly executed, even after very clear instructions about what I wanted. Some weeks I had to leave work every day to return home and discuss what I wanted. The renovations were meant to take 3-4 weeks however they dragged on for 18 weeks. Contact with Kishor became less and less. Towards the end of the renovations Kishor started complaining that his wife was giving him a hard time about getting the final payment. Once Kishor found out he had received full payment I basically stopped hearing from him. I delayed placing feedback on No More Cowboys to give Kishor the opportunity and time to fix the problems or at the very least discuss solutions with me however neither has happened.
I came to No More Cowboys to avoid builders like Kishor and KC Home Builders, sadly I have been left disappointed. I would not use KC Home Builders again nor would I recommend them to anyone.
I am happy to deal with a representative from No More Cowboys if they need to verify what I have outlined in my feedback. I rang him to say that during the storm my door smashed & he was contacted to come and have a look to see how big the job was. He told me he was too busy, but his wife told him to help me out, given my circumstances. He gave me all the measurements and I went off to order these 2 doors. I ordered one of the doors with the wrong measurements, so because the door was custom made I had to order another door as they wouldn't allow me to return the… door that was wrongly measured. 0%"A job that I was told would take 3-4 days has now taken 4 weeks and counting. It was a bathroom renovation. The tiling is of poor standard - many tiles are not level, even after the tiler was called back to fix his mistakes (he appears to have just taken off the masking tape that pointed out what needed to be fixed without actually fixing it). The grouting and siliconing are not neat and consistent. The tiles didn't actually meet the wall where the vanity goes, yet a pushy plumber insisted on… putting the vanity on top of the unfinished floor simply because he wanted to get the job done on that day, rather than coming back after the floor had been finished properly. The tiling around the edge of the shower is not level to the point that it has meant that the shower glass could not be installed properly. However, the installer of the shower, rather than pointing this out, installed it anyway (yet another contractor who just wanted to finish the job and get paid, rather than point out that something was wrong and have to come back another day to do it properly). The waterproofing that was done around the edge of the shower was not finished cleanly. Nothing was cleaned up and the contractors all decided that my bathtub made a good dumping ground so my bathtub was full of rubbish until I cleaned it up. Plumbers used the bucket out of my laundry without asking for permission (why didn't they bring their own?). Tiler used a box I had outside to place broken tiles AND HIS LUNCH RUBBISH. However, the box was a big box that the neighbourhood children had been using to play with! Rubbish (including the removed shower cubicle) sat in my driveway for 3 weeks until I got sick of it and asked a friend to remove it. The plumber took parts of my toilet (inlet hose and outlet) and kept them in his car, so when I needed to install the toilet after a week (only hired portaloo for a week), I was first told that the plumber couldn't do it because he was in Wellington (hello? Is he the only plumber in Auckland capable of installing a toilet), but then I got a friend who was able to do it, but he couldn't due to the pieces being missing. At first Kishor insisted that they were in the house, but then "remembered" the plumber had them IN HIS CAR FOR "SAFE-KEEPING". Not sure who he thought would come into my house and steal the hose to my toilet rather than the TV or other electronics! Anyway, I then was sent to Bunnings to buy the replacement pieces because Kishor couldn't be bothered fixing up his mistake. (He turned up the next day with the pieces and was surprised that I no longer wanted/needed them - short term memory?)
This job has been one muck up after another. At this point I'm $1800 out of pocket and I will need to hire another builder to redo just about everything. I'll probably also have to spend another $500 on tiles.
I probably haven't even written everything down here that has gone wrong, but I don't know how this guy got the ratings he did on this website. He has done a good job and we are now at the final painting… stage.

As with all builders ensure the quotes are discussed thoroughly as to what is included and what not.

95%"Kishore and his team have done a wonderful job at my place. I had requested quote for the Deck through NoCowboys website and received 17 interests. I was looking for someone who is LBP with experience and offers a competitive rate. Kishor fulfilled the entire requirements.
He had suggested the various options available for decking material.
It was supposed to be 73 sq m but with some great ideas from Kishore we managed to maximise the space to 90 sq m deck. He had skill fully managed the… flow of the deck and maintained the council requirements. He has done an amazing job of doing the VITEX decking.
Having had such a delightful result I gave him a further work of doing the Pergola.

To make things even better they were able to start on the work almost immediately. I got them to fix up all the rotten weatherboard and window frames and installed window flashing plus other things around the house. The job was to build a carport with dutch gable roof including skylite from ground up.
I must say that the job was done according to my satisfaction and most importantly within my limited budget.
The day the contract was signed and deposit paid, the work began immediately and… completed within the time frame we both agreed to. Never have I seen a builder so honest and so punctual and kept updating me what was going to be done at each stage of the building process.
I very highly recommend him to others and is our first choice builder for any future building projects.
