    "I am doing big mileages at the moment so needed to get the tyres checked. I choose Lake Auto Services because their workshop is very neat and tidy and I thought they would take as much care in their work as they do in their workshop. They gave me a quote for two new tyres and a wheel balance and did the job quickly and professionally. They also brought to my attention the fact that the car was overdue for a service, not pushing for the job, just concerned if I was doing lots of miles I should get it done. I checked and they were correct so they then did the car service. All done cheerfully, at a reasonable price and in a professional manner. I feel this garage can be trusted to do a good job, they take pride in their work and I have since been back for a car warrant. Thank you, Lake Auto Services."

    "Had been using these guys for all my vehicles for a few years with no problem (that I know of), but would NOT take ANY of MY vehicles here since this experience......

    Rang and requested they complete a Protecta Mechanical Insurance repair job, which they accepted.

    Called in and spoke with owner, showed him the window, explained threaded nut needed to be replaced, and I requested NEW replacement parts used due to warranty cover.

    All good so far, they quoted ~$330 for repair and parts would be ordered.

    Got the call, parts had arrived so brought van in for repair

    Got a call that avo, repair completed so went to pickup van......

    On arrival I was advised:

    - Repair was cheaper than quoted as it didn't take him as long as expected, (normally a good thing!!), but that since it wasn't over $300 Protecta would not cover so advised car yard who provided vehicle (and 3 month amnesty on repair costs) would need to cover.

    - I would not be permitted to remove my vehicle until "I PAID" the repair bill

    Upon stating this I queried whether or not they had contacted the car yard as advised to cover cost, they had not and claimed they knew nothing of car yard who sold it to me??.....Yet were holding the Protecta Warranty book, including the Car yards details sheet from time of purchase and all contact details, plus name and number is on both front and back number plate surrounds of the vehicle they are holding.

    I refused to pay for repairs as I was not liable, they again refused to release my vehicle

    Now getting quite stressed and running late to pickup my children I rang the car yard myself to arrange payment!

    -Yard offered a Credit card immediately number for payment, Lake were not sure how to use it.....

    -Yard requested email of invoice and they would pay overnight, but Lake staff DO NOT USE COMPUTERS??!!!!!!

    Finally, after about 30 or so mins I said I WOULD be taking my vehicle and as advised they would need to invoice the car yard for the $250

    Lake then finally agreed to 'post' an invoice to them and let me take vehicle......

    With all the hassles and stress I neglected to check the repair while onsite

    When I got home I noticed that the 'window nut' I had requested be replaced had chips on the paint, thinking this should not be the case I rang the following day to ask why this was damaged

    Speaking to mechanic he explained that the parts they ordered were wrong and that he had re-tapped existing nut to re-attach, like it was a nothing.

    I expressed that I was extremely disappointed to hear this, as had specifically request new parts were fitted.

    Mechanic blasé and offered no further explanation or apology,

    -for the fact they had not completed the repair as requested and agreed

    -had not even told me about the incorrectly orders parts and repair had not been completed as requested

    -still being charged for the incorrectly ordered parts on invoice

    To this I advised, as I could no longer TRUST them as a business to provide services as agreed in an HONEST and OPEN manner, I would NOT be using them again or recommending their services any longer.

    I take great pride in my vehicles and need to be able to TRUST the people who are working on them to do good HONEST work, and advise when things don't go to plan.


    I proceeded to receive monthly payment reminders in the mail, having to chase the car yard myself for payment as they weren't getting payment reminders

    Obviously the car yard isn't the fastest payer, but harassing the customer for payment when not liable is just another example of how non-functional their 'systems' must be

    Extremely disappointing as I thought I had found a business I could rely on, and they are conveniently located.

    I now go out of my way for PROFESSIONAL automotive services, but its worth it!
