"I've been very disappointed by the project management and communications from Mr Fix It. We engaged them in Oct 2018 to replace some broken bifold doors. From the outset we had discussed that the project was urgent and they indicated that they would get onto it asap. Over the next six months we went through two different project managers, both of whom lied to us on several occasions - telling us that the doors had been ordered and would be installed in 2-3 weeks. After hearing this story for many months, the office admin called to say that the second project manager had resigned and neither PM had ordered the doors. After the doors were finally installed (8 months late) I questioned the fee and was dealt with by the owner who jumped straight to a very litigious response (he threatened to send someone around to rip out the doors) - his approach to communication was clearly similar to the project managers who we dealt with (communication and customer satisfaction is not important to this company). Would not recommend."

"I am left feeling ripped off as a result of poor communication from the word go. These people seem stretched - everything is a mad rush and a panic. I should have taken notes on every conversation I had with these people, as well as watching their work and checking it off before paying. I now have half a ceiling in my flat with sound proofing in it - though I paid to have the whole thing done."

"Utterly useless. Called and clearly asked for a quote to provide 2 concrete slabs for a spa pool and a garden shed. Arranged for visit and quote and scheduled a time 2 days in advance. Arranged to take time off work to be there. Got a tex an hour before they were supposed to show saying "they arenlt doing concrete slabs at the momement". Referred me to Allied Concrete who supply concrete but don;t place it . Total waste of time that could have been avoided if they were more prefessional. I suggest other customerrs AVOID"

"We needed a fence built around the back and side of our property and so we got a couple of quotes. A tradesman we used before and Mr Fix-it. Mr Fix-it turned up promptly unlike the other tradesman and had some great ideas for the fence which was in a high wind area. The quotes were similar and so we went with the tradesman we had used before to lay our concrete path as he was a 'known quantity', or so we thought. He subcontracted to someone else however and that person stuffed us around, failing to turn up twice. After this dragged on for weeks we turned to Mr. Fix-it. They were amazing - 2 days later they turned up, finished promptly (within a couple of days) and did a very good quality job, blending the fence in nicely with a preexisting fence and our neighbours. They are now my next go to for any work around the property."

"Greg and his team repaired a leaking roof for the Wadestown Scout Group. We had a number of small but persistent leaks and couple of bigger ones where the corrugated PVC roofing sheets (skylights) needed to be replaced. The quote was very competitive but they decided to do DO IT FOR FREE. THATS RIGHT. FREE - since we are a non profit organisation.

We are very happy with the communication and quality of the job and wish to thank Greg and the team for really helping us out.
    Great job guys!"

"Highly recommend Mr Fix-it. Greg was great to deal with - prompt and reliable and the workmanship can not be faulted. Variety of small jobs had to be done as well as some wallpapering and painting. Everything was completed as requested and to a high standard. Safe and reliable tradesman. I plan to use them again for future jobs and will be recommending them to friends and family. "

"We were extremely disappointed with all aspects of our experience with Mr Fixit Wellington. The job came in significantly over time and over budget. Originally, Greg estimated that is would take a week and $6,000 including material and the use of their scaffolding. However, the job (fixing weatherboards) took four weeks and cost $22,847 before we stopped using Greg and got another builder to finish the job. There were days that the builder just didn\'t turn up, miscommunication and poor communication between Greg and the builder (about when materials were needed), and once when the builder overcharged us for the hours he worked. Additionally, a number of items were broken and the builders didn\'t acknowledge that they had done this (a lamp, a plant and in one case plasterboard which they moved shelves against so it wouldn\'t show).

Realistically weatherboard jobs are hard to price as you can\'t see the state of the struts holding up the house behind the weatherboard so some cost over run can be expected and we did add insulation to any areas large enough to include it - but most of the extra costs were due to slow and inefficient work as well as not knowing how much materials cost.

By the end of the first week, only one builder had turned up (we were told we would get a builder and a labourer) took a week to do less than 1/4 of the job, and didn\'t discover any issues underneath the weatherboard. However, he was unwilling to use the company\'s scaffolding so this was an immediate extra $800, Greg (the owner) significantly underestimated the cost of the materials and this was a lot more expensive too (total estimated at $1000 and cost $1224 for less than 1/4 of the materials) while our labour bill was very close to the estimate total! After two weeks, we got another builder and the progress was faster. But at that stage, we were already significantly over budget and one week behind schedule. We ended up doing a lot of clearing up ourselves (removing weatherboard from around the house) as the builder felt this was labourer work but he didn\'t have one. Greg started helping out to prime the weatherboards (a labourer\'s job) and charged at his project management rate (far more than a labourer).

All in all, not a pleasant experience, and we would NOT recommend Mr Fixit or Greg.

    Greg responded:
"This is a lesson to be learnt ! Toby and his wife came from overseas and purchased an early 1900\'s villa. Unfortunately their builders report had not picked up the extent of rotten weatherboards, and more importantly, rotten bottom plates / studs etc. When we were asked to do this job, we were asked to provide an estimate to replace a few rotten weatherboards. At the time it was thought the job would take approximately one week. We explained prior to starting you never can be sure of the extent of the work required, which, as we got into this job we discovered to be the case. Unfortunately for Toby and his wife, after removing a few weatherboards we found extensive rot in bottom plates and studs. As we moved around the house the situation got worse, hence the original estimate became obsolete. We called the Council and fortunately no consents were required (as this would have increased costs even more). However, all work on the house was undertaken by a certified builder. Toby and his wife have done the right thing and made their home safe and secure by ensuring all the rotten timber was replaced with new. This is a lesson to be learnt to anyone considering renovating an old home. You never know what problems you are going to find, but if you do - then be sure to address them properly and thoroughly. Thankyou for your feedback Toby, we have taken on board your comments and are using them in a positive way to improve our communication with customers. Greg"
