"James installed laminated flooring at my house in March now that the weather is wetter the floor has started to bulge and push up the boards in several places. I have been told by another builder that this is due to there being not enough space at the edges for the boards to expand when the weather is wetter. Two edges that can be seen have no gap at all so I believe this is the problem. Also if I run a dehumidifier the bulging reduces.

When I contacted James to ask him to ask him to come and see what the issue was he offered me one time which I couldn't make due to prior commitments, when I asked him for another date he did not come back to me so I emailed again to ask if I should get someone else in. He has not bothered to come and see the problem and instead sends me emails which start like this: "Please do not play the victim ......" he is claiming it is my fault due to a join in the floor underneath even though the problem occurs across the floor in different areas in particular in a part of the room which is 4ms away. I have found his attitude to be very unhelpful and unreasonable I would not use this company again"

    James Zhu responded:
"During initial consultation I raised concerns with the uneven substrate level of the house and advised solutions that Rachel declined due to cost. I explained the steps of the job she contracted us for, and Rachel was happy with the finished job and accepted the finished results. Due to declining the extra costs of addressing the uneven flooring, preexisting problems outside the job we did arose. I gave Rachel my availabilities and she declined due to a baby shower. Because she does not want my advice nor heeded it the first time, and with Rachel insisting the job was botched despite a sixth month period during which she accepted the job result despite having not addressed underlying problems, I advised her to consult a building surveyor to address the uneven substrate level as she did not wish to remedy the problem with me. For the price and quality of work we did, and with the warning the subfloor needed addressing that she declined before the job began, I don't know what else she expected."
