"Our full villa renovation was undertaken during COVID, and as a consequence, I had to re-schedule Dave and his team on no less than 6 occasions. Dave has the patience of a saint! Our flooring is original wide plank Kauri, which had seen much better days. The previous owners had 2 huskies and I had my doubts as to weather or not we would be able to restore them to their former glory. I need not have worried, as Dave and his team went to town on the floors on day 1, and upon inspection my wife and I were so pleased with the result that we elected to upgrade the finishing coating system to maintain the aesthetic that Dave had achieved, the floors are better than brand new and far surpassed our expectations! I have already recommended NSFS to anyone and everyone that has asked. Thanks again Dave, brilliant job!"

"Extremely poor job. Instructions not followed - 2 bed room apartment, all timber flooring only 10 years old. Lounge/kitchen/dining area was to be a light sand, the two bedrooms cut back and then two coats of osmo oil to be applied throughout. They sanded the whole apartment (without removing the wardrobe doors and tracks, so that was a botch to start with). The sanding was very badly done - the sander bit in to every corner, and I now have little trenches along several walls which I can run marbles in. Gouges in all corners in every room, uneven surfaces around the edges and in doorways. As we are set up for wheelchair use we have a small riser from the wooden floors into the bathroom, this was just cut back so now we have a 5mm jump from floors to riser in both bedrooms. They did not vacuum thoroughly before applying oil so there was grit/dust stuck into the oil. I contacted them, Dave came out and said the grittiness will go away and the corners etc all looked fine. After the second coat of oil (and it looked like they sanded in between coats which should not happen with oil) the wood still looked very hungry and dry, the grittiness was very evident and of course the gouges/hollows were still there. I contacted them, the two young men who did the job came out to look. One of them said nothing the entire time. The other one was very aggressive verbally and physically. He said it all looked fine to him. I pointed out the areas of concern and poor workmanship, he changed tack each time. After about 10 minutes of arguing I asked them to leave as there was no point in trying to achieve any solution when they did not see a problem with the work. I was offered a discount on the job and was told I should consider getting the bedrooms sanded as a bonus. As those floors now look worse than when they started, I do not agree. Especially as that was not what they were supposed to do.
Poor workmanship, poor customer service, poor follow up (except for chasing to get their money, they did not offer anything else in response to the problems and the photos I supplied showing some of the damage."

"We got in touch with Dave in February to sand the kauri floors in our recently purchased old villa. The floors hadn't been touched in more than twenty years and were a pretty unattractive orange colour. We wanted to get the floors sanded before we moved in.
We hadn't anticipated the country going in lockdown, and what transpired was quite incredible. The job was due to take around a week and a half as we have quite extensive flooring. When the lockdown was announced, and realising we would be stranded with the floors half done, Dave and his team worked around the clock to finish our job. He pulled in additional help, and worked right up until midnight to finish the job. We could have been left with a half finished house for the whole lockdown period, but thanks to Dave and his team's work we have been left with the most beautiful floors which everyone who walks into the house comment on immediately. This was an example of going above and beyond and we are so grateful for the quality workmanship and commitment to customer service. Thanks Dave to you and your team."

"When I read the positive reviews on the No Cowboys website, I chose to contact Dave about getting our very large expanse of native flooring sanded and polished in preparation for selling our house in Epsom. His service was exceptionally good. From the moment I texted him, his responses were swift and informative, during evenings and weekends also. We were unsure about what stain colour to choose and Dave was patient and helpful dealing with our indecision. It seemed that our floor was tawa when it was sanded back, which was a much paler wood that we expected. The original colour we chose was a dark stain, Driftwood, however, the sample patch looked a bit greenish on the floor. After the many new pictures and examples Dave sent us by text, he was happy to arrange two new sample patches. The best was Provincial, a pale golden honey colour which we decided to go with. Gosh, the end product was stunning, everyone comments on the beautiful floor when they step inside! The high standard workmanship provided by John who executed the sanding and staining was that of a true craftsman, he worked around the clock and at the weekend to complete the work in our tight deadlines. Our changes could have resulted in delays but he made sure this did not happen. His meticulous work meant the final result showed the grain and history of the wood to perfection giving a unique patina. I would unhesitatingly recommend North Shore Floor Sanding 2018."

His standards are really high and you can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work and the finished result. We had a small hole in the kitchen which needed patching and I couldn't find anyone willing to fix it for me. "I've been recommended to Peter after we were advised that we were better off sanding and polishing our floors than covering them up with vinyl. Contacted Peter and he turned up very promptly and gave us a quote on the same day.

Really happy how he even helped us save some money on uplifting costs by showing us how to lift the old vinyl ourselves! One of his guys, Carlos, did the floors for us. He is also very professional and great to deal with. We used waterbourne finish in matte and it is BEAUTIFUL! "Seeing the fback on Nocowboys I thought I would try them and I am glad I did. No mucking around, arrived the same day, said I needed Flooring Uplifters Co, phoned them, he arrived 2 hours later and by lunchtime the next day 4 old layers had gone and the floor was ready for sanding having paid a good value price. Peter's team then did a fine job at a sensible price revealing a quality Tawa floor which is much better than vinyl now. I have already recommended NSFS for a family job needed to be done soon. "I usually get 2-3 quotes in for work on the house I\'m renovating but when it came time to sand and polish my rimu floors, Pete was so professional and the quote was exactly what I expected so I didn\'t bother contacting anyone else. Pete was flexible and accommodating and even contacted to offer me an earlier date when his schedule changed. We are totally THRILLED with the floors, they have been completely restored and are beautiful - a real highlight of our home.

"Pete\'s price was one of the best, but the decision to go with NSFS was also due to his professionalism and obvious experience when asked about solvent v water-born products since we have young children. He seemed dependable and honest, traits that were proven as the job progressed. We chose solvent based and have no regrets after leaving it a good month before the children returned (just to be sure) and while the floor had some fluctuations, it came up pretty well considering the sad state it was in through the renovation. The \'old\' floor is now one of the key features of the new house. There was a slight miscommunication on the quote re the sanding sealer, but Pete did not hesitate in putting this right, a man of integrity for sure. Thanks Pete."

"I required floors to be resanded and sealed for a new house that my wife and I purchased. I obtained two quotes and decided to go with NSS based on the excellent quote and feedback provided on this site. I am certainly glad that I did as Peter totally delivered. He was great to deal with keeping me informed throughout the process. The work was done when booked and within set time frame. The quality of the workmanship was top notch. The flloors came up beautifully and exceeded my expectations. The flloor was quite old and the last guy who had sanded it had been an ameature leaving grooves etc. Peter fixed all of this and did a great job. I could not be happier. Highly recommended!"
