"I've used North Shore Towbars twice now- both times the service was fast, friendly and of a very high standard. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again or to recommend them to anyone."

"A rear light was broken during the job. No sincere apology was given until a written complaint followed, although to their credit they did organise to fix/replace promptly. I drove away (the second time) with my hatchback’s internal cover-piece loose (not fixed back in place) so I could see nothing behind me after five minutes on the road; had to pull over, as once I turned a corner it slipped sideways and occluded the whole back window. Just disappointed after thinking they were going to be really attentive after screwing it up the first time."

"USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. SERIOUSLY PEOPLE! I put my wagon in for a towbar to be fitted. When the job was done my parking sensor light was on. On closer inspection the wires had been cut through cleanly with what looked like a grinder cut. When I spoke to the boss about it he denied all knowlege and said it wasn't them! Do not trust them. If they make a mistake they will not take responsibility. I had to pay for an auto sparky to fix it and he agreed that it was clearly them who had cut the wires."
    North Shore Towbars responded:
"In response to the rating left by Jim. There was an offer made to Jim that we would go 50/50 with the repair as it could not be established when the problem occurred and Jim agreed to this. "

"Had a towbar fitted for my Outlander, unfortunately it was really ugly and protruded around the outside of the bumper, not behind it as in other models. Tried to get then to maybe take it back (not expecting to get full price or anything, just something) but NO, not interested at all. Dissapointed!"

"So I take it there, tell them have it as long as you want, I wanted them to take their time and fit it properly, within an hour it's done. Aye? Come on, an hour? Should have taken longer than that surely. Drive home, inspect the work only to find that they had not properly fitted it and there was a bulge and crack in the rear bumper. I am also 90% there are other dings and scratches in the rear bumper that were not there before. I asked them to replace the bumper, they did not. They did fix the fitting, so that the bulge was no longer there, however the crack and scratches are still their. I would NOT recommend going there, all they are interested in it seems is getting as many cars through as possible to line their pockets. Will never go back there and will recommend others stay away too."

"We had a tow bar fitted by them in September last year (2011). When I went to pick up our car when the job was finished I immediately noticed that the actual tow ball was not entirely in the centre of the rear of the vehicle but slightly more to one side. I did not say anything at the time because I preferred to get the opinion of others first. So I took it home and then driving down our drive way I had another unpleasant surprise: the tow bar scratched the concrete floor and this not just lightly which created a real problem for me. I then asked my wife about her opinion as to the tow ball and she also shared my opinion. Over the following 3-4 days this opinion was also shared by everyone we asked, neighbours and friends. When comparing our new tow bar to tow bars on other vehicles one can see that the steel part where the tow ball is fitted onto, most others are curved upwards and are therefore higher up, and others which are straight seem to be shorter than the one fitted onto our vehicle. I then returned to North Shore Towbars and spoke to the proprietor John, who did not seem to take my concern overly serious, but agreed to solve the problem re tow ball not being centred and this only after commenting that my eye sight must be extremely good. I clearly remember him saying that it is usually a bit difficult to get it exactly 100% right, and that mine would have been the best one of the week. About the length of the steel part where the tow ball is fitted on, he did not comment and regarding the height of the tow bar he measured it again and simply said that it was acceptable. Noticing that I was not impressed he said something like “ if I am still not happy with it then he would simply take it off again”. The purpose of returning to North Shore Towbars was to try to get them to rectify the problems and not for them to say “either accept it the way it is or I will take it off again”. This is not the way to fix a problem. I was tempted to accept his offer to remove the tow bar again and hopefully get my money back but then I was concerned that the underside of my vehicle might be left with the holes where the tow bar is fitted, so I decided to just leave things as they were. We still have the same vehicle with the same tow bar and every time we drive up and down our driveway or anybody else’s we deeply regret having gone to North Shore Towbars. We most definitely do not recommend this business to anybody and we are anything but impressed with their attitude. When we go back to someone who has not done a job satisfactorily we expect that business to correct the problem and not to express an attitude like his was “take it or leave it”. We have only just come across this website now otherwise we would have mentioned this feedback much earlier."
