"What a disaster it was getting QMS do a small roof over a corner of our house. Communication during the process was almost non existent.
The quality of the workmanship was well below the standard I expected even to the point of Rok admitting to me that what I was getting was not what he had quoted on and envisioned.
A point was reached where I was asked what needed to be done to reach a standard of completion that I was expecting.
My answer was " pull it down and start again which is prcicely what happened. The reconstruction was executed under my guidance as the workers on it quite frankly we're hopeless if they even bothered to turn up when they said they would.

The area around my house was left a shambles of cast off building material which in the end I had to clean up.

Quite frankly I could not recommend QMS to any future customers

"Over the 2016/17 summer period, my wife and I committed to the conversion of a 1970’s style school prefab into a two-bedroom cottage. The building had been sited with all the necessary building consents on the property by the previous owner for the purpose of running a special equine dentistry school. As a classroom it was completely redundant for our purposes.

I undertook the Resource Consent application for the conversion (as a dependent person’s dwelling) with the intention that my daughter and granddaughter would be living in the cottage. My daughter and I, and various family members, came up with the basic design, and an architectural draftsman did the design drawings and submitted them to Waikato District Council for the Building Consent.

In the meantime while all that was happening I advertised on the website Builder’s Crack and interviewed two builders who responded. The first was a rep from a building company and I did not get any sense from this builder that he was particularly interested in the project.

The second builder was Rik Anderson, Quality Management Services. Rik specialised in this sort of work, and his preference was to have an hourly rate, plus materials. I struck an immediate rapport with Rik as he clearly saw the potential for the project. He gave me helpful advice in the planning of the project. All along it was a ‘by family for family’ project and Rik guided and assisted us to do what we could along the way – including painting and other tasks. Rik sent me to Demolition Traders where I purchased all new double-glazed windows and doors, and the interior cavity slider doors that were incorporated into the design. On Rik’s advice I purchased the Kaboodle Kitchen, and other fittings, and paint from Bunnings. I also organised the carpet and vinyl for the bedrooms and bathroom. But looking under the carpet and old linoleum, Rik realised there was a beautiful tawa timber floor, so we had that sanded and polished for the remainder of the house. It is magnificent.

We worked together as a team. I also took responsibility for arranging the tradesmen: electrician, plumber, drainlayer; and Rik organised the materials, and assembled a small team of builders to do each stage. Brent joined the project and immediately impressed me with his care and consideration for what we were doing.

This is our story and we cannot speak highly enough of Rik and Brent’s professionalism, their personal care and understanding for our aspirations, and their willingness to work collaboratively with our family, and with the various tradesmen whom we sub-contracted.
