    "I contracted Jeff at Soulscape to do extensive landscaping / decking at my property. The design Soulscape came up with was exceptional. My wife and I reviewed it and changed our minds on certain aspects about 4 or 5 times. Jeff was extremely patient and responsive to our changing ideas and completed updated designs until we agreed on a final design.

    Soulscape was to come in and do the landscaping and decking after a pool company had installed and commissioned a pool for us. We had a very bad experience with the pool company (took them 6 months to install the pool properly - putting it in the ground and taking it out 3 times until it was finally level). Throughout this process Jeff (Soulscape) assisted in chasing the pool company for progress and action. Jeff did not need to do this but his assistance was invaluable and hugely appreciated. He even supervised their final install for us. Since the pool company has finished Soulscape has come in and undertaken the build of an extensive deck, cleared our site and prepped for the build of a seating / fire pit area. All the way through their works Jeff has kept me informed of when his team would be on site, what they'd be doing and when they expected to be finished. Jeff's team have been a pleasure to have on our site. The quality of the work Soulscape has done is top notch. If I ever need to have landscaping / maintenance work done on my property again I would not call anyone else. I thoroughly recommend Jeff and the Soulscape team to anyone considering landscape work at their property."

    "We assigned Soul Scape the job of a total garden tidy up including the chopping down of some big trees. Although the job was completed we were left with a lot of tidy up. I messaged Jeff a few times asking for a receipt towards the the payment made for the completed job but never received one till date despite several text reminders. Also a certain area the stump grinding wasn't evenly done. I informed Jeff again via text about it but his lack of response has been disappointing. Will never use this company again."

    "On initial consultation for quotation purposes, Soulscape (Jeff) was the only one out of the four, whom listened to what we were trying to achieve and provided plans and recommendations. We are so happy that we got Soulscape to do our landscaping project, where they redesigned our back yard, gardens, pathway around the house and decking.
    Jeff’s communication from the beginning right to the end of the project was absolutely outstanding; even when I was working away from home; Jeff would update me every evening on progress, provide me with photos and inform me what the plan was for the following day. Jeff would also meet with us every Saturday on the progress and catch up, which I did look forward to, as he is a nice guy to talk to. There were some lovely surprises along the way of the project, where Jeff ideas just left you gobbed smacked, I was so amazed, a lot of thought went into the project, which I’m personally grateful for and appreciate. Jeff’s team went all out, working late and nothing was a problem, great team, very polite and proud of their workmanship. Whenever they had finished for the day, they would always leave the area tidy and clean. We’re very happy with the workmanship that Jeff and his Team (Soulscape) have done, great job! No more hunting around for Landscaping work, as we will definitely be using Soulscape for any future work and on this note; I have no trouble in recommending Soulscape for any landscaping projects, enjoy the journey. I’m that satisfied with Jeff’s team workmanship that, I’ve also recommended Soulscape to our company where I work.     Given our need for a hard wearing child safe plan we were thrilled with the outcome.

    "Another Grab one / Soulscape victim. I ask Soulscape to price for considerable landscaping work and when chasing the quote I advised the alternate offer was at hand and I was looking for his offer. Jeff replied you might as well go with the alternate offer as I dont quote for jobs that have alternate offers.
    I then advised I just wanted the 8 hours of garden work done and no extras to which I received no response.
    3 months 2 weeks later I get my $295 back ...
    Grabone deals are often a problem I find, they dont care what cowboys they deal with. There are plenty of landscapers with good feedback on here .. use them!

Garyth, We advised you from the consultation that we would not dig out stumps by hand nor would we pour concrete on un prepared ground nor we get into a quote battle when we didn't agree with the prep or the process. When you abused my staff and threatened my female staff. I told you i was not will to work with you at any level and advised you go with someone else. After advising you that i would approve a refund it took you 3 months to claim it... What started out as a simple job turned into a much more complex job due to underlying problems with our section and Jeff provided great advice and solutions. Like any company they are juggling a few jobs, but I found Jeff very communicative about the comings and goings. I think clients need to understand project management and that if various skills are involved in a job,it takes a lot of coordination and may not neat and tidily fit into a few days schedule - you can't magically conjure up a digger for exactly the two hours it is needed at your place. Jeff was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient when dealing with a project that presented unexpected challenges. I would highly recommend Soulscape"

    "Another victim of Soulscapes Grab One deal - or rather no deal. Jeff came round to give us a quote for some light landscaping work. We agreed to spend $2600 all up + the voucher. They were supposed to create a set of stairs using sleepers but plonked 2 of them in the garden instead. They planted around a couple of dead palms rather than removing them as we asked. They are not professional landscapers that's for sure and their website is a misrepresentation of what they do. As I told him I wasted good money on an below average job I could have done myself. Avoid them, even on a Grab One deal you'll be disappointed."

    "Robyn, After 4 designs and 4 quotes 2 site visits 17 phone calls + twice the amount of time quoted at the same price there is nothing more we can do to please you or your girl friend we are a landscape company not a counselling services maybe next time you should talk to each other first. As for the palms : we told you that in high summer you can not transplant palms that why we would not do it for you and i told you they would die, Palms need large root balls and special care. And threating to post on no cowboys if we didn't give you a discount because you were not happy with what you asked for well thats not something i will fall over for."

    "We got a Grabone voucher too but also asked for some additional work to be completed and were extremely dissapointed. To touch on the main points of frustration;
    - Terrible communication and hardly ever showed up when they said they were going to but rather at completely random times, which one of the workers said is how he always operates
    - We asked them to transplate our fig tree. They transplanted the wrong tree (a feijoa...reasonably hard to confuse) and did so terribly and the tree is now dead. When I got home the only thing holding it up was the fence. - After outlining what we wanted in the consultation the gardener then turned up and did things in a completely different priority order than agreed (as we did not want to use any more than the 6 hours labour paid for as part of the voucher). - When we raised our concerns to Jeff via email he came back after some time non apologetic, defensive and with excuses from his worker that were all completely false (ie said my wife told him to go do some work contrary to the priority order agreed, when she had only asked enquired with him why he was there on that day as the agreed date was completely different) Extremely dissapointed and would never use again.

    "This company doesn't belong on No Cowboys. My experience is that I called and made a date for soulscape to come and quote for a job mulching up some garden waste and tree trimmings.
    This date was missed by them, and had to be set up again.
    Finally they came around and gave a quote and a date the job would be done which I accepted. The fateful day came and no soulscape. I was really relying on the job being done on time, so I called....no reply or return call. I called again to be told it would be sorted, but received on return call about when. I called 2 days later to be told that there was no update, to which I replied "am I better to get someone else to do it " to the reply of "yes" rather rudely! I wouldn't bother getting a quote from these guys if I was you, they are just time wasters and unreliable.

    "Soulscape got in early contact to meet for the consultation and happily offered to add in some additional services that really helped us (like clearing some dirt we didn't know what to do with). I admit I was nervous when I got home the day they had been and half of the job had been done, but when I checked in Jeff confirmed the crew was returning the next day to do the rest. Two days later they came back and did complete the job. More proactive communciation to manage my expectations on that would have been helpful but all in all it was a good job and good value for money."

    "Never use this company!!

    The positive responses on this website must be from his friends or family, can't imagine how he would be able to give an excellent service ever!!

    Here is the story following purchase of grabone voucher:

    2 Feb purchased the coupon, texted the supplier with the address details and work required.
    3 Feb supplier called to make a time to view the garden, this was going to happen on 6 feb - Waitangi day - but confirmed it would be inspected.
    Late Feb I returned from work one day at c. 6pm, Jeff was coming down our drive having inspected our garden, at our home, not the rental address as detailed. No contact from Jeff later that day when he may or may not have inspected the correct garden. No consultation process happened at all Day was booked for the work to be complete 8 March and I was advised there would be some green rubbish removed and verbally was I happy to pay another $195 for this. I confirmed verbally that this was OK. The booking and extra charge was completed during various telephone conversations with his 'PA', never once did Jeff or another landscaper who was actually going to be completing the work call to discuss what was required or what I would like to be completed. The work on 8 March was delayed and was informed this would happen on the 10th, confirmed this was OK but bear in mind the 6 week delay from first contact with the supplier. So on 10 March I called first thing and talked to Jeff and asked when someone would be on site - still no discussion about what work I wanted done. And when I suggested that they would get there at 9am and that they had 8 hours work on site, I was told this was actually 6 hours, because of travel, the address is in Torbay, and also the consultation time. This is not as stated in the voucher and was specifically asked of another potential purchaser, and was to be on top of the 8 hours landscaping work. So I arrived on site at midday on the 10th March to find that they had spent 3 hours dealing with my neighbours trees, with no prior consultation with me, no phone call first thing to tell me that this was going to take 3 hours, they had also dealt with the neighbours plumbing and I was told they had had to go offsite for parts to fix my neighbours pipe. I get there to find them clearing a garden bed, and ready to plant the 6 plants and 4 bags of bark I have set out for them, so far so good, but then I am told I haven't bought the right plants, or the right bark or enough of it, I didn't have any weedmat and also I need to put some edging in so the bark won't wash away etc etc.... So then I got talking with Jeff, showed him what I would like to be done, could he also clear a tree stump, could he trim some over grown tree and cut the hedge. This was all Ok but would be another $1,000 or more, he wouldn't give me a firm quote, and wasn’t really interested in any discussion or consultation. Whilst on site Jeff still was not interested in completing any consultation process, any suggestions I made about what was to be completed would incur additional time, products and of course money, the discussion got to the point where I went inside to calm down, my painter who was also on site could not believe the way he was talking to me. As much as I wanted the work completed I did not want what he was suggesting but I needed what I had described to be completed. Who knows what work they would have done if I hadn't turned up on site. And now he tells me I refused to turn up to site for consultation. Jeff then left site, without consulting with me any further, I instructed his landscaper, Anthony I think, to complete the work as I would like it, plant the bed with the products I have supplied, and then trim the tree over the driveway, and cut back the others that Jeff suggested if they have time. I called to speak to the office once I had left site, left a message that I did not want to deal with Jeff but needed to get this matter resolved. Jeff called me back and was very difficult to deal with, I left the matter as I was not prepared to deal with him any further. Bear in mind at this point that my professional life consists of dealing with contractors on a daily basis, as a commercial property manager, and I have worked in this capacity in NZ for over 15 years, this sort of work is not new to me, I was clear in my instructions and I have been treated very poorly by this supplier. I have not got full value for the voucher and I am not prepared to pay additional costs as per this invoice. I have a planted bed, that I am very happy with, that would have taken maximum 2 hours of my time so a professional should have been much quicker. The lawn wasn't moved, the privet was not removed, the tree is still overgrown, the hedge still untidy and I still have a tobacco tree as he calls it, the rest of NZ would know it as wooly nightshade. Limited green waste was removed from my garden."

    "I made the mistake of buying a grabone voucher. I should have just used that and not upgraded it into an overpriced $5k job made up mostly of "labour".

    Expensive trees arrived with badly damaged trunks from careless transporting (almost ring barked) and planted at strange leans, not staked (had to ask later after several failed attempts to tie them myself). I don't know what mulch he uses but within weeks the garden bed was FULL of new weird and wonderful weeds. One of the trees instantly snapped in the first storm. The list goes on and on. To give him credit he tried to make things right but at the end of the day this job turned out to be the most stressful and unsatisfactory of any tradesman's work I have ever had done in my life. I know he feels I am probably his worst client ever too but at the end of the day all I am trying to do is complete a vision I had for my garden. Lesson learnt - never use a voucher from a service company. Ask yourself why they need to discount their services to get new clients. (strange when the job they will end up doing will not result in repeat biz or referrals) Jeff I would't have wasted my life on this review but your last abusive text tipped me over the edge. All I am asking for is the name of who supplied the trees because I don't ever want to use them again either. Constantly telling someone to "have a nice day" is not a reply to a genuine question even if you don't wish to answer the question..."

    "I bought a voucher for 4 hrs. Jeff arrived on time and gave me ideas for replacing the rampant ferns and ivy when I am ready and the rest of the voucher was used for clearing overgrown branches, agapanthus and flaxes. Got notice the morning he was coming, thank goodness I was able to return home. He was very pleasant, a very slow worker so it took a lot longer than expected (I wasn\'t charged for the extra time so that was good) and I feel he could do with more training in with garden maintenance however he did leave the site tidy."

    "I bought a grabone voucher for this company for 8 hours landscaping work including Consultation, Planning & Travel. I did not expect to be using up my landscaping hours to deliver the materials one day, be charged a delivery fee on the invoice for materials and then charged another travel time to come another day to use the materials to construct my garden bed. Jeff did not manage my expectations very well at all. 8 hours of landscaping and several hundred dollars for materials, and I have bare vegetable garden frame. I would have been much better off buying a kit set ( similar size to what I have, putting it together myself ) and kissing my grabone voucher goodbye. Very disappointed, which I expressed to Jeff in person and he chose to do nothing to improve the situation. He was very friendly when the initial consult was done. Not good at managing my expectations. If I was aware after the first consult what I was getting. I would have ended it there."

    "I quite feel vindicated now that I'm reading up complaints and grievances about Soulscape/Jeffrey. I was also one of the sad people who bought a voucher from Grabone for 8 hours of landscaping service in July but by end of September filed a complaint with Grabone and got refunded for only 4 hours. You figure out how 4 hours can be spent by traveling from Mt. Roskill to Howick and back plus sending the quote by email without any sketch or plan. I had indicated that we were tight on budget but still we will never consider taking it as the quote was ridiculous for the scope of the job and the poor service (in terms of response time and courtesy)that I got from Jeff. I wasted a lot of time following up on how many hours are left to consume and when Soulscape can complete it by doing some tidying up and leveling off. I eventually gave up after 2 months and contacted Grabone. I'm just appalled by Jeff's unprofessionalism. There's nothing more I can say."

    "It's very obvious that disgruntled people have a lot to say for themselves. Some contributers on this site should be a bit more careful with their comments as many of them are defamatory and libelous.

    I used to sell outdoor power tools and it always amazed me when people were surprised that our quality equipment was 'so much dearer' than the chain store brands. Suffice we were never surprised when they brought their chain store brand in for repairing.

    You don't stand over a computer repair man or a dentist telling them how to do their job. You simply admit that they know what they're doing and pay accordingly. Soulscape have done various jobs for me over the years and I have always found the staff courteous, fast and hardworking. They also landscaped the business entrance of a company I worked for. Some people questioned the plan when the plants went in, but today they simply remark on how good it looks. Sadly for Soulscape their customers who are happy with the thousands of dollars worth of work they've had done by them are no0t the type of people who frequent websites like this. Yes, there are cowboys out there but Jeff's not one of them."

    "Our work by Soulscape was a game of two halves - good and bad! We bought a coupon knowing full well we'd need extra hours. Jeff was quick to communicate and we agreed on a plan. I needed my entire garden removed as it was entirely overgrown and the plants were wrong for our garden. Later that week Jeff arrived with two staff and chopped and removed every tree and plant. Then all the roots were ground down by another contractor bought in by Soulscape. The garden was then sprayed with weedkiller and all the mess was tidied up. I have no complaint about this work at all. Everyone worked hard and efficiently. We arranged to have a new garden planted out and Jeff sent a very vague long list of suggested plants. We had no way of knowing exactly what would be planted, how many plants or where they would be put. Obviously we had to place our trust in Jeff. On the day of planting Jeff and his son arrived with a truck load of plants and proceeded to place them where appropriate. At this stage Jeff left and the rest of the job was done by his son but I would certainly have thought a senior landscaper would have overseen this work or at least checked after completion. By the end of the day it was "finished" but I was very unhappy with the result. I phoned Jeff and told him that the edging (which had previously been a straight edge cut into the lawn) was now a dreadful mess. I also emailed him a photo of what I had told him I wanted and what the current job looked like. I was assured I'd need plastic edging - I knew I didn't, I just wanted the type of edge that was there in the first place. When I tried to explain to his son what I wanted, he dug a kind of trench and ruined any chance of a nice edging. I was very upset to also find (after he'd left) that all the plants had simply been dug into the rough, undug ground that was left after the trees had been removed. There had been absolutely no digging of the soil at all. I had to remove all the mulch, then the terrible soil and rubbish (bits of old plants etc), then the plants. I had to re-dig the garden and start again basically. I had to remove masses of soil as the garden was left about a foot high! I decided that this should have been the job of the landscapers so I called Jeff and he said they'd be back the next morning to fix it up. Next day only the son arrived back - it was very embarrassing trying to tell him about the job he'd done. I really would have expected Jeff to come back and see how it looked! Because they had told me I couldn't have an edge cut into the lawn, I did it myself but because of the mess made previously, I had to start an entirely new line in the lawn. When the son arrived to "fix up" the garden, I had basically done it all - took me approx 4 hours! He helped finish it off but clearly thought the job he'd done was OK. I actually can't describe how upset I was at the terrible finish he'd left the day before. There were clots of soil spilling out all over the lawn with mulch thrown over to hide it! I emailed Jeff to tell him how unhappy I was - I even sent more photos of what I'd done and how it had been left. I explained that I'd rather deal with him directly rather than take it to a public forum (No Cowboys) but I never got a reply. For the amount of money we spent with them (way over our original budget!) I would have thought at least to get a reply or an apology. I did get three plants replaced (again by the son) that I disliked but no response at all to how unhappy I was. I personally found Jeff to be OK to deal with but overall, I was not a happy customer."

    "Soulscape and Jeff in particular was the most unprofessional trading company I have ever dealt with. I wish I had read feedback on no cowboys before purchasing the voucher. Rather than retell my story, feel free to read my complaint letter to Jeff and his poor (and not very well written) response!

    Grabone ended up refunding us for the rest of the unused hours after Soulscape literally just up and left with no explanation before completing the hours we had paid for. And I can assure you, I never thanked the landscaper (Jeff seems to think I did) after he spoke to me so rudely before instantly leaving - not the type of behaviour I usually thank people for. It became very clear to me that when we chose not to purchase any additional services or plants through them (we got our plants for almost half the price from one of the most reputable nurseries in Auckland!), that they really had no interest in completing the work. We spent a whole weekend replanting and tidying our garden after the mess they left it in but now looks great (no thanks to them). He did comment we "changed jobs" on them, but I didn't think planting trees at the FRONT of our property instead of the BACK was really that complicated or hard to understand. If Soulscape were wanting to attract new business through offering discounted hours, turning around and telling new clients they are penny pinching, when Soulscape have advertised their services on a website where people purchase deals, is quite ironic."

    I had purchased Jeffery Poole services via the website Groupy - which is $245.00 valid for 8hours work by a professional landscaper from Soulscape.

    In my personal experience and opinion Jeffery Poole is the most unprofessional landscaping service available currently.

    Essentially we had an assessment on August 26th and he was dealing with my wife who communicated that he kept on trying to upsell his services like $650.00 to clean up the whole garden and once he knew we weren't interested in the upsell he seemed not interested and insincere, Jeffery then told my wife he would email us with when he would book us in. So follow up email on September 2nd - no reply, come September 17th I had to email and leave a voice message which said "Hi All, I am not sure what is going on but I have had no response from anyone regarding the services I have purchased through Groupy for 1 person for 8hours. I have had the assessment and now would like to know when we can organise together for someone to come in and complete the work. I appreciate any assistance necessary. If this isn't resolved soon I will take further actions." This was then followed by a phone call immediately saying Bobby whats going on very casually.... We were then booked for September 27th starting at 9am. I had booked half a day off and my wife would be going to work at 2:30 so we were content with 5 1/2hours work - just to get it done and over with. I waited untill 9:45am till I rang and rang - voice message all the time. Untill 11am when I received a call back saying my guy said the gate was locked - I can tell you I was watching the gate from 9am to 9:45 and there was no one there. Essentially their 1 gardener came at 11:30am and according to my wifes instruction which was to prune the tree's did it in 1 and a half hours then said he was done. He did not want to do the lawns and said he was told to only prune the tree so therefore could not do anything. Now I rang Jeffery - disgruntled after my wife communicated to me what had transpired. We were never communicated this list - his excuse was it was my wife's fault for not providing a list with all the necessary works and not communicating it when he was onsite. He also communicated that I had only paid for 4hours when he knew better. He has taken away 1 truck load of green waste and there is still a reasonable amount left over now. I have never ever been so upset and unhappy with any service or product I have purchased from Groupy and Nocowboys and I intend on taking this further as unfortunately it seems this individual is not improving their service. I sincerely hope everyone else here finds better landscaping services as this was my first and the old mantra you get what you pay for...."

    I have used them several times since for my business and found them quick, thorough and reasonable priced.

    "I would not recommend this company to anyone. In fact I would recommend you dont go anywhere near them. Jeff came around to do the original quote, and agreed to quote separately for 3 different areas of my garden so I could prioritise once I found out prices. A month later and several emails from me I got a quote with a list of trees, no description of the work undertaken and a price of $8000. There was no way for me to know what was planned. I was also advised that as I was using a grabone voucher 2 hours of work was being deducted for the 'plan'. When I asked for a plan on paper I was told this was a concept in his head and if I wanted it on paper it was going to cost me $1200 extra. I was also told that for any more emails he had to reply to to me he was deducting a further 15mins off my voucher time for each one. This is a very long story and I wont go into all the details as I will be here all day, suffice to say in the end Jeff came around one day (I had arranged to take off work) to trim some trees and prep a garden area to use the remaining 6 hours on voucher and walked off the job after 5 minutes without saying anything to me - he just walked down the drive and drove off, then emailed me calling my job a 'pile of crap'. I ended up having to go through yazoom to lodge a complaint but did not end up getting a full refund and had nothing to show for it. I would strongly recommend people AVOID this company."

    "While the communication prior to the work commencing was prompt, what was quoted and reassured to me in further email correspondence before accepting their quote was not what was completed. Oliver, who worked very hard all day, did a great job but clear instructions on what had been agreed/quoted on were not clearly communicated and when communicating with Jeff prior I had been told there would be 2 guys on site for the day, not one. Two would have been far more efficient.

    Due to the work not being completed as specified I withheld payment until we could discuss remedials and to see what was going to happen to my citrus that immediately started dropping their leaves. Jeff did get someone to come back a day or two later and remove the stumps that were part of the original quote. Payment was made, as he was assured it would be, when we were confident that the citrus were not going to die from Jeff\'s over spraying. Just prior to this Jeff came to visit and threatened us with \"I\'ll be back\" if it was not paid immediately. I was also a little bemused that I received the invoice via email for the completed work an hour or so after the work commenced. All in all, I would not recommend Soulscape as a reasonable, reliable and trustworthy company."

    "Sorry to see that we failed to please you 100. Here at soulscape thats always our goal.... But I must say that this comes as a bit of a surprise after you came out 5 times throughout the day to tell us what a great JOB we had done !! I should clear up a few details like no spraying was done or quoted for 2nd 2men were doing your job all day when one was not on site they were either tipping your rubbish or picking up mulch for your garden ... And yes it is true i did say i would be back if not Paid but only after 5 broken promises 2 emails 4 txts and you leaving the country before paying your accounts As a director it is my responsibly to make sure all company matters are in order.....We wish you the very best forward."
