"Richie first renovated a log retaining wall alongside my section and also re-barked the area alongside the wall. I then asked him to replace an old, rotting timber deck and steps. He did this over three days and did a great job; the deck is much sturdier and looks great. Richie also braced a spiral staircase which goes down to the deck, as this staircase had slumped and was unsafe. He didn't charge for the extra work and both jobs he did were very reasonably priced. He was hardworking, friendly… and a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend him."

"We had a long staircase up to our deck done and loved the work so much that we also re-did our outdoor seating area on the deck straight afterwards. Loads of our builder/architect friends complimented the work for its quality and attention to detail."

"Richie recently replaced the deck around our swimming pool. He did an amazing job of replacing a very poorly built deck with a well constructed stylish replacement! His skills were outstanding, he made some great suggestions, saved us money when he could and came in under budget! "In June I contacted Richie to provide me with some ideas on how best to construct a tasteful pitched roof over the front enterence of my Wainui property.I wanted to use some of the large totara beams that I had stored in my barn. Richie had some amazing ideas on how best to approach the job and when he advised me of the pricing I was delighted. Richie is a diligent, and methodical worker, meticulous in his approach to detail and extremely fast in his execution. I would highly recommend him for… any building/ landscaping job no mater how large or small......My next job for Richard will be a substantial stairway down to a pond in a rural setting....."

"Ritchie has worked on several jobs for me. The 1st being a massive deck, 8 foot off the ground, where he had to demolish the existing deck and rebuild from the ground up. Site access was really awkward, but he worked tirelessly & made a stunning job of it . I've since had him back to do other building and maintenance work. Ritchie was thoughtful with cost saving suggestions, reliable, punctual & respectful of our property. He's also really relaxed & fun to have around! I have no… hesitation referring him for other work. Ritchie is my GO TO man for all building work."

"We recently contacted The property Doctor to review a 1970’s terraced backyard, a mix of aggregate pavers, concrete walls and tired & cracked old pathways. Quite a challenge as several other contractors had told us. However ‘Richard’ was not daunted, took his time to consider and after consultation, presented us with a detailed proposal and plan, plus costing for consideration and ultimately agreed to.
The project started on time and consideration for our domestic circumstances;… was finished on time and exceeded expectations in every respect.

We would recommend The Property Doctor to anyone contemplating professional landscaping and ‘Richard’ was a pleasure to work with.

"I needed a handrail at some steps inside. The bottom part did have a hand rail but it was now necessary to have the remaining steps covered. Richard was amazing he knew how to add the rail without it looking a add on. He worked efficiently and promptly. My new hand rail looked awesome and the best part was that it looked as if it was there all the time. I can only recommend Richard very highly. I am very pleased to have found a reliable handyman and will call on him in future. "

"Richard refurbished a cottage for us 5 years ago, on the strength of that we contracted him to landscape our outdoor area with decking, patio, fireplace, seating, benches, roofing along with power and lighting. Richard presented us with three designs, listened to our wants and finished the contract with some planting to go in Autumn. Our experience has been entirely positive and have used the outdoor area pretty much the whole summer."

About us
I can cover everything from advice to full project completion.
I started out app. thirty five years ago with Building/carpentry firstly,and went back to Uni. not long after and studied landscape design. Since then I've done one or the other or both, and both of them well.
I have a great group of other tradespersons I've known and trusted for years to call on if required to complete any project
(machine operators/drain layer/plumbers/electrician/concreters/painters/plasterers etc)

What we do
I enjoy meeting people and helping them with their projects of all shapes and sizes. Initial meetings usually consist of your ideas and input of what you would like to do or have done, and I combine my knowledge and experience with your wishes and come up with a combination of ideas and solutions and even full scale drawings/plans if required. I enjoy doing what I do and have enjoyed clients satisfaction for many years- and hopefully many to come!!
