    "Greg came and evaluated the job and explained clearly all aspects of the job from the size of the truck, how many guys suited the job and all about insurance options. It was made as easy as possible for me so I could focus on other aspects of the move. On the day the guys called me saying they could start early and beat me to the house. Everything was moved well within the quoted timeframe although I did move a few items ahead of time. Nothing was damaged which is a big win for moving obviously and the guys were friendly and efficient. 10/10 well deserved."

    "Friendly- efficient- easy to deal with- safe- good communication.
    The guys turned up ever so slightly early which was absolutely fabulous! Three friendly men who very efficiently listened to what things needed to be moved, and moved it! They were very delicate with my things- taking special caution with tubs I identified as fragile. They were a dream to work with both at my house and the storage facility and were friendly, efficient and nice men. Full move took 1 hour exactly. Worth every $. Would defiantly recommend them and use again!

    "Managed to book a time with little notice which was good, but on the day of my move they were several hours late and the communication was poor. By the time they arrived it was getting dark and they refused to move several of my items which I carried down the path myself. They were careless with several items which resulted in significant damage which they did not even apologise for. They were rude and angry. I would never use this company again."

    ""Hi Andrew… Wow one to learn from I think! And I'll have to take it on the chin since I was personally there! Lets agree though, it was one of Wellington's perfectly awful days (well, evenings) weather-wise. We were very late to you because we had battled with the conditions all day… We were frustrated because the address we picked up from was up a very long (200 meters), very uneven track in the bush with no lighting… And then very narrow very steep sets of stairs — with tight hairpin corners no light and dense wet foliage. A slippery bush walk in cold and torrential rain with our cell phones for light — no less… Damage — I would suggest somewhat inevitable. I sipped twice while carrying… Not of your making, but were also well fatigued and cold. We could barely feel our arms by that point. Yes we encouraged and welcomed your assistance (you're an able bodied young man who knew the terrain you forgot to mention), but we certainly did not refuse to carry anything. I would say we turned up and got the job done when we could fairly have refused to do the work on OSH grounds. It more than cross my mind and if I learned anything from the experience, it is to do just that - if there is ever a next time in similar conditions. Was I frustrated - very. And if you are not persuaded already I did advise my hesitation to your booking when you made it (because we had a full day already. I only agreed to do an end of day service because you said there wasn't much… Which was true enough I suppose. Greg "

Load size, access and a customers level of preparedness all effect the service time… so when we are busy it is a juggle. We do try to keep customers posted with ETA's.     "Sorry guys but probably one of the worst moves I have ever experienced.
    Firstly, I had to chase them up as no one called me to say they were running late. In the end they were 4 hours late so my mother and I emptied 90% of the storage unit ourselves to save some time and then we also physically carried in 75% of my stuff to my new place. The owner Greg was there as one of the people completing the move and he was very rude. The move took 1 hour 12 mins in total and he charged me 1 hour to make up for being late ... not much of a financial saving considering the physical labour my mother and I had done.

    ""Hi Aimee. Your annoyance is understood. We were very late and I know that waiting just isn't fun. My apologies for not providing the service you deserved... By way of explanation — We unexpectedly started the day a driver down (and therefore a truck down), which meant juggling the schedule. I spent much of the day helping the men stay on top of their increased workload, so I wasn't fully on top of the communications… And, the driver that was on your job was struggling with a back niggle, so I turned up in my car sent him home and picked up on his role. Not the perfect day for us... For the record, I did advise you that we would be much later than booked and I suggested you do other things until 3:15. You moved your goods out of the storage lock-up onto the provided trolleys before we arrived. Our customers commonly do this to save them selves the cost of this time. Clearly you were not expecting to do this… but you did have the option of leaving it until we got there… it was a very small load. There was no parking at the drop off or anywhere near it, which meant a quick unload into an alley and then relocating the truck before we could take your effects out of the alley, around the corner and into your apartment. By the time I returned from parking the truck you and a friend had helped my man move much of the load into the apartment. I really didn't have a lot of choice in this. For you frustrating - for us, all in a days work - albeit a challenging one. I make an effort to keep things "light" and I felt you were on the same page. You waived the apologies I expressed on a number of occasions and I thought you were accepting of these circumstances. Yes I suppose I could have waived the fee… I have done this before. I hope your next moving experience is sublime. Cheers, Greg" "

    "I have to admit that Vanman wasn't my first choice. I've used Cool Moves several times but they were booked for the date that I wanted. I read reviews and Vanman looked good. They turned out to be fantastic! Greg was very good at communicating and confirming my move date. The two guys who actually did the move were very careful with my items and took great care not to knock into the walls. They were also very polite and very hardworking. I would definitely use them again and highly recommend."

    "based on the good reviews of this company I called the main contact, Greg, for \"a man and van for 9 boxes\" a time of 9am Saturday morning was arranged. Instead of a man and van I got two men and a van and was charged extra for another mover I didn\'t need. When I queried this with Greg afterwards he said that their default is always two movers as he\'d have to have one mover waiting around their office between jobs. Despite asking for a man and van for 9 boxes (my words when I spoke to him to book originally) he said I didn\'t specify just 1 man. Frankly I feel ripped off. Although the the guys were very friendly, Greg had also taken down the details of the pickup incorrectly which meant they first went to my house rather than the storage depot they were meant to have gone to to pick the boxes up making them a half hour late. For anything less than a house full of goods to move I definitely wouldn\'t recommend this company. In reply to points raised in Greg\'s response: 1) My bike was delivered free of charge to the local bike shop - Seriously How is this free of charge it came within the hour that I\'d already (over)paid for! 2) I accepted your response on the telephone re the two man rate - Greg, I wasn\'t given a choice. Ultimately, I asked for A MAN AND VAN FOR 9 BOXES (my exact words when I called), this SHOULD have prompted you to either say that you only had allocated times on Saturday for two men and van slots OR you should have asked me how many men were required if \"A MAN and VAN\" was not clear enough. You did neither. your response on the phone was that you would have booked only 1 man with me if I had specified this and gave me no option other than to pay, As you got other aspects of the information wrong in the initial call to you it\'s surprising that you were so sure over the phone that I did not specify this. Ultimately you didn\'t want to pay for one of your movers to sit in the office between jobs so you wanted a customer to pay for a services which was not required or asked for. This is why I felt conned!"

    "Hi Nathan, thanks for your review. We promote our presence on this site and expect to be held to account for slips in our service… I did indeed send my men to the wrong address. We called you on our early arrival at your home, you advised our error and we went to the lockup where you were waiting — arriving 15 minutes late… Nobody likes waiting, so my apologies. I have a lot of conversations and won't pretend to remember the detail of every call. However, you called me after the service and asked why the 2 man rate. I told you that the trucks were committed with 2 men that day, it was our standard service and that I had no recollection of you requesting a 1 man service... and you accepted this. Had you attempted to persuaded me otherwise, I would have accepted your position. Also, you didn't mention that in addition to the service booked and provided, my men did you the favor of dropping your bike in to the bike shop for repairs… (no charge) Greg. "

    "Hi I used the Vanman to move my daughters items from Kennards to her new location the move took under an hour. They said that they would call if they were running early and they were so the cal was appreciated. They were in and out and delivered really well it saved us having to travel from Hawkes Bay to Wellington to do this and it was far cheaper to do it this way than for us to go down to Wellington. Well done Greg and thanks very much we would use you again. "

    "I used VanMan to move heaps of furniture and boxes from a storage unit in Newtown and a house in Ngaio to our new place in Karori. Max and Conrad were friendly, hardworking and efficient, doing the entire job in just over 2 hours. They really took care with our possessions, and I really appreciated that they asked which things went which rooms - it saved heaps of hassle later. Greg's prices are really reasonable, and they kept me in the loop on the day as they were fitting me in between two other jobs. Thanks team, will definitely recommend you to friends and family!"

    "I have moved house around Wellington 10 times in the last 15 years and used the Vanman for the first time this year on a recommendation.
    The movers were absolute professionals, took pride in their work and were quick, efficient and friendly.
    Greg is very proactive, involved and updates you regularly.
    I also accidentally mucked up my payment and he was very generous when resolving the issue.

    "This morning I washould rushed to find someone to move my bed and being so close to Xmas it was near impossible until I spoke with Greg.     "Used this company for a recent move of a larger 3 bedroom home. Found the movers on the day superb and couldn't fault them at all. The major frustration with this company was the fact that I had asked everytime I spoke to them that it was a very large truck that would be used to fit all our stuff in, even describing what was in every room over the phone. I was assured a large truck would be used, but on the day a medium sized truck arrived which I understand is their biggest they have - this resulted in two trips being required. Even though I had been quoted a number of hours that the job did take, I was expecting a large truck with one load and if I had of known this company couldn't handle one load I wouldn't have booked them in. I also found the owner to not have goodwill over a couple off aspects of the time charged on the bill. Overall I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone looking to move with an average sized 3 bedroom house or bigger unless you're wanting to spend extra unnecessary money. If you do decide to use them, ensure all the terms are agreed upfront regarding travel costs etc."

Having said this, I do feel the need to reframe a couple of your points... # The estimate I provided was bang on - to the dollar.     " I have a lot of stairs at the old place, with a narrow path and some heavy-ish furniture to be moved. The guys could not have done a better, more professional, more stress-free job and I am so impressed with the work that they did. They were friendly, fast, careful, and especially calm when we had a mix-up about which address the things were meant to be delivered to.     "The estimate was $1100 after the owner visited our house 2 weeks before move and was shown everything that needed moving. (Owner forgot this appointment until I txtd a reminder so he arrived 40 mins late)
    Final bill was $1600. Asked for 8am start but on the day it was 9am. Was supposed to be a 1 day move but the outside furniture wasn't moved until the next day.
    Friendly staff and nothing was broken.
    Final invoice was deducted $120 after my feedback.
    I won't use again.

    "Highly recommend Van Man. This is the second time we have used this company and they are very excellent. Greg was great to deal with on the phone when booking the job. Matt & Luke were the same guys we had last time and they remembered us even though it was year ago that they last moved us. We moved on a day with torrential rain!!! The guys were great. Tried to keep our stuff as dry as possible and did the job with good humour even though they got absolutely soaked! We had an incident where we couldn't locate a box that contained some personal goodies. We had it all along (my husband didn't spot it buried behind other stuff). The reason I mention it is to reference Greg's professionalism when I contacted him about it (and his team's integrity). He dealt with my query with good grace, did what he said he was going to do in terms of checking with his men, and was especially gracious when I called him, highly embarrassed, to advise we had found the box.     "We can not thank Greg and his team enough for stepping in at short notice to move our beautiful new leather sofa. The delivery company charged with delivering the sofa to our new address by the store failed, maintained it was impossible, that it would not fit and scuffed up our new paint work in the process and left it in our garage. Greg and his guys turned up the next and incredibly the sofa was safely in situ in under 7 minutes, no fuss and expertly executed. We thought we'd have to send our new sofa back but thanks to these guys were are sitting here enjoying it tonight :) I would highly recommend these guys and we will definitely use them again."

    "I highly recommend using Vanman, we used these guys to move our family household of stuff into storage unit and they made it easy! Greg came around and accurately quoted for move and was awesome at communication and ensuring that things went smoothly on the day. He was there on move day and even bought extra tape at last minutes notice! He gets it, moving can be stressful, but these guys took a lot of the stress away. On the day, the team of 3 movers were awesome. Quick and efficient and took great care with our items, the wrapping on the fridge was pretty impressive. Nothing was a problem, the guys were friendly and chatty as they worked and even had the odd song! I have complete confidence that if anything was not right, Greg would sort it.     "The service I got from Vanman was first-class. A pre-move visit meant that the people who actually did the job had a good idea what was involved before they arrived. The two young men who did the moving worked very hard and very fast. At the same time they were friendly, polite and understanding (we were a bit behind in our packing). The house I moved from had quite a difficult access and they were not fazed by it. At the house I moved to everything had to be stacked in a few places, to allow some renovation work to be done and they were quick and skilful with that. I would recommend them to anybody needing a mover."

    Move went well - very quick, no damage
    Paid on the day. 2 weeks later I get a call from the owner demanding payment, I stated I had already paid on the day which you could tell by his voice he didn't believe me. Get an email later confirming money has been traced. I suggest they get better systems to ensure they are on time and a better system for tracking payments. Would not use again.

It is my job to keep on top of the days progress and keep customers informed when a day goes out of shape. I am reading that this didn't happen and I don't recall giving you the heads up.     "I have worked with Van Man twice now and both times I found them to be really professional, took pride in their work and were extremely easy to deal with. The second time around, they'd been held up on a previous job, which meant mine had to start a little bit later, but Greg kept in contact with updates so it wasn't problematic at all and I've still rated them 100% for start time because it was beyond their control and they kept in contact over it. Van Man is a great way of moving your goods - the guys have great systems and they didn't hang about - so long as they have accurate details of what they're moving where, they can estimate the time it will take fairly accurately and price the job accordingly. I would definitely recommend Van Man - efficient, personable staff and well-priced."

    "Difficult to express my complete dissatisfaction with this company - arrived back from overseas to find everything had been jammed into my storage unit in such a way the wardrobe was literally broken into pieces, the bookshelf had a hole in the back of it, and bed and dresser were completely ruined - scratches and dings galore, movers obviously showed no care at all. And even worse since then is the communication from the company - it took over a month for them to even get to a point where I could stop renting the unit full of broken furniture, which they had initially wanted to try "fix", so I waited, and waited... And now they won't pay for either the broken or damaged furniture, or the cost of renting the unit for an extra month while I waited to hear back from them. Also overcharged me for the original move due to movers forgetting they had left set of drawers on the truck, and having to move everything out of one storage unit and into another."

    ""The storage company involved has a very good policy of the unit renter being present while furniture is being unloaded. This is because frequently people rent a smaller unit and miraculously expect the movers to fit everything into a reduced space. This makes the rental "cheaper"- if it works ! When the furniture is removed, if a person doesn't take the time to see how the unit was packed, people start wrenching things with the obvious damage resulting. In this instance, the client removed her own furniture. This person didn't phone me to discuss this situation. Neither did she inform me that the only remaining furniture (which Vanman removed and disposed of for free) meant she had to keep paying rent. Vanman has done well over 5,000 jobs. Clearly, if we damaged furniture like this, we would have no business. This person works in the communication industry, yet didn't communicate with us. We don't always get it right - but we do stand by our reputation - when we think we've got it wrong. Simple dialogue would have resolved this. We also promptly refunded to the client any "overcharge" she thought we had made" – Rod Baker "

    2 young guys turned up on time to move me and were quick, professional and polite. Probably the best 2 individual movers I've worked with.

    The truck itself turned out to be just a little too small for the job (was not a full house load but more than expected I assume) so that necessitated me making a second trip by car (mark off for that), but the boys did a great Tetris like job of at least ensuring all the large items were moved. I would definitely recommend them with the caveat to ensure you get a larger truck than you think you might need."

    They arrived early and didn't stop until we were safely at our new destination. They came in under their quote and after moving a whole house only 1 glass was broken and that wasn't Rods fault, I dropped it!

    "This was the second time we had used Vanman and on both occasions we have found the team to be: punctual; conscientious; polite and friendly; super-efficient and very reasonably priced. They made our move go more smoothly than we could possibly have hoped for. Rod came out to see our place and assess access and amount of gear ahead of time. This level of organisation meant that our move was done in the absolute minimum of time. Alex and the moving team were awesome to work with and got it all done in the blink of an eye! On top of all that, the price was nearly $200 less than Rod had estimated, which was a pleasant surprise. We were moving from Wellington to Kapiti and nothing was a problem for these guys. Cannot recommend them highly enough!"

    "I was delighted with the service I received from the Vanman team. Although they were running a tad late, they did ring to let me know, and even sent three men for the price of two to compensate, which was wonderful. The move was well-priced, especially for such a high standard of professionalism, and only a couple of items sustained tiny damages, which was my fault rather than Vanman\'s. This company will be at the top of the list for my next move!"

It was only a short move to the neigbouring suburb, and te two gentlemen who helped with the move were eficient and concientous and worked hard to get the job done within the first hour rate - no dallying to increase the price (although the prices were reasonable and very competitive).     "Good communication. Rod and the guys were very cheerful and friendly, and very careful during the move. I underestimated the amount of gear we had (I\'d remind other customers - you always have more than you think you do) and the guys came back later, and shifted the last of the stuff later in the evening liked they loved their job - no issues. Would recommend Rod and Vanman. This is not easy work, especially in Wellington!"

    "I just wanted to say how impressed I was with the service that I received from VanMan. The three guys who came to do the move were fantastic! They arrived early and were all very friendly and efficient. They had to deal with 40 steps to carry the furniture up and they did this admirably and without complaint! They moved everything very methodically so I could check that nothing was left behind in each room. There were no issues at all and I was very pleased with the whole move. I would very happily recommend VanMan to anyone in the future."

    "Good communication, they were 10 minutes late, but called to let us know 20 minutes beforehand.
    They were very flexible as we were on 14th floor of an apartment and only small service lift between 13 and 14th floor. The service lift broke so they had to use the stairs. We underestimated the job and they were excellent in getting extra people onto the job to help to make sure we finished moving on time. Thanks!

    "Overcharged, agreed to job and accepted money on the day, then invoiced more. Unjustified. Late to job by 20min. Then when I was reasonably offering more $$ refused to negotiate and threatened to add further charges. Shame, on the day I thought they did okay even if they were late. But now, I don\'t think charging the cost of moving the whole house to pick up one piece of furniture is \'value for money\' and not what I agreed.

    "This job took just over TWO hours and involved three employees with a fourth working for FREE for twenty minutes. Our advertised rate is $105 per hour for two men. Client thought $100 in total was plenty to pay. despite our best efforts we were unable to keep this customer happy VANMAN invites YOU, our next customer, to try our service and rate us fairly. "

    "A great service from a friendly, efficient group of guys. Not all the guys arrived exactly at the specified time and so Rod agreed to start charging from when the last one arived, even though the others had started the move. They worked quickly and got the move done in good time so the charge was really competitive, Rod kept me informed of what was happening when, and on top of that they\'re a friendly bunch of guys! Would highly recommend."

    "Super easy move with the Vanman! The guys were a bit early, but called first to make sure this was ok. They were fast, friendly and careful with all our furniture - and they had to deal with some slightly awkward access (of course, this is Wellington). The only minor problem was the truck was a little small to fit all our stuff (slight miscommunication about the job) but problem was solved to our satisfaction.
    I\'d recommend to anyone moving if you want a smooth, efficient move (not to mention great hourly rate)!

We cover the Lower North Island for moves with a pick-up or drop-off in Wellington.

Our rates are $100 for a truck and man, $120 for a truck and 2 men and $160 for a truck and 3 men. We run larger teams for bigger jobs when required. Our men are well trained hard working and trustworthy.
