    "This was an insurance job with a builder, electrician and 2 painters. The builder, electrician and 1st painters work was all substandard, with 4 different issues arising.

    1. Although the assessor had stated that the TV aerial was to be fixed onto the house, as it shifted when the truck hit my house, the electrician removed the aerial from my property without advising anyone he has done this. WBS told me he had not been advised to do this, but then subsequently I was told that the electrician now said it had rust all through it and I would have to pay for a replacement. After contacting the insurance I was advised that there were photos showing no rust in the aerial and that it would be covered. It was subsequently replaced by WBS.

    2. The fixing of a barge board. The builder left this ‘finished’ with the new barge board not lining up with the existing barge board by approx. 20millimetres.



    3. The painting of the new barge board, and soffit. The painting of the soffit was only on the boards that the builder had replaced and not the whole line of the house as stated in the assessment. The new barge board was stained in a significantly darker stain than the rest of the house, and the existing barge board were not stained to match this. This was to be corrected by sanding the darker stain and a lighter one put along the two barge boards. However this was not done and a light stain was put over both with the two barge boards then not matching in colour.



    4. After the soffit was painted white, I was left with white drops of paint on the brown stain on the side of the wall closest to that soffit. Also there was one section where this white paint had been sanded off the brown stain, leaving a distinct lighter colour on that part of my wall.

    After many times of contacting WBS and chasing up all these problems they were fixed and a new painter was sent to correct all the painting errors, however, these issues should not have arisen in the first place.

    "Wellington Building Services – They used two different types of timber in an open plan room, destroying the look!

    In November 2015 our wooden house was severely damaged by fire. Wellington Building Services were awarded the contract to rebuild the property. They were expensive and did a quality job with one glaring error, two different flooring materials were used for the flooring; which cost us over a thousand dollars more, and destroyed the look of the open-plan kitchen diner.

    We asked for replacement matai timber on the open plan living room. At the beginning of the build we identified a provider of matai timber but Wellington Building Services did not purchase this timber when it was available. Instead they waited until just before they needed it and as a result it cost over a thousand dollars more. Worst still, they didn’t buy enough matai timber. We were asked if me minded off ‘cuts’ – the assumption we made was that these ‘off-cuts’ would be from the same native (matai) timber. However, another native timber was substituted. I complained about this situation but this was was ignored.

    Wellington Building Services responded saying that that they blended in as best they could. Take a look at what the floor looks like and judge for yourself – follow the links below!

    We were based in the UK during the rebuild and I feel that they took advantage of this situation.

    "Our floor was replaced to such a poor standard that it has now had to be replaced by another company with WBS taking no responsibility for their poor workmanship. Avoid them like the plague."

    "Very disappointed after reading the great reviews. I contacted them to get our house roof replaced and WBS\'s guy John did not show up so I rang to see what happened and he said he was at his son\'s rugby game (it was a Saturday appointment) but he should\'ve rung to say he was late. When he did arrive 2-3 hours later we had a lengthy discussion about our needs and the other jobs we need done. When the quote arrived after I chased it up it wasn\'t the quote we\'d asked for. I went back to the owner/director, Darren followed it up and we have now gone back to him and hopefully they\'ll be easy to deal with now. Somehow Joe got involved but I don\'t know how or where he fits in which just added to the confusion. John told us WBS deal with everything we were going to need done but it looks like we will have to find other contractors."

    "We appreciate your feedback and acknowledge that you did not have a good experience. By way of explanation John was new to the role and at the time was overwhelmed with the workload. We have now taken steps to resolve the issues you experienced. In hindsight John should have made it clearer from the outset that whilst we do all forms of roofing we would be reluctant to provide a warranty to install replacement tiles given your exposed location. Hence our recommendation to install long run iron."

    "I had a difficult water drainage issue to fix in the lower section of my house. Darren and his team kept at it until the issue was satisfactorily resolved.     "My wife and I run a private home stay for foreign student boarders, so you can imagine how picky we are when it comes to maintenance!

    Besides, running a business we can get a tax deduction for it, lol.

    Naturally, as a result we always find something going wrong which needs building maintenance.

    We have engaged the services of Wellington Building Services Limited (WBSL) on a number of occasions.

    WBSL provided us with a prompt, value for money service.
