His attention to detail and his process to deliver work that would last, stood out straight away, and despite his quote being higher than others, we weren't after the cheapest and wanted someone we could trust and rely on. The preparation work that Alan and his team put into their work was excellent and this of course is the most… important part. The attention to detail to run a light over every wall after the 1st coat of paint and address any thing that needed attention no matter how small was great to see. They also made a good effort to tidy up at the end of each day which was important seeing as their work was going on around us in our home.

98%"We cannot rate Alan enough. He is one of the few tradies who actually delivers on time and practices what he preaches. We had contacted 3 other painters- two did not even bother showing up after making appointments with us. Alan responded within a day and assessed the job that week. He told us he would email us a quote in a week- and he did! We were so impressed as having been involved with builders, other painters, plasterers, fencers, etc renovating our house over the last year, we had come… to expect poor communication, tardiness and poor customer service. Alan was a breath of fresh air. The price quoted was fair. The job to paint our house externally was complex as it was a Lockwood from the 1960s that was renovated in the 80s. The prev paint work was a mess with a combination of oil staining and poor quality DIY paint work from the previous owner. The house had multiple colours and with nothing to unify it it looked like the house that Jack built! Alan gave us really pragmatic useful advice on colour schemes and also on what work to get our builder to do. His advise to get rid of some trees touching the house opened up the car port area vastly and let a lot of natural light in. We had wanted a dark colour for the house but Alan advised strongly against it- going with 3 shades of napa instead. The final result is great as the colours used unified the multiple areas of the house and brought it all together. he even chose a great dark grey colour for our front door. The house is a 60 year old state house which needed a do-up prior to us putting it on the market for rent. The wooden window frames had multiple coats of paint that were failing badly. the interior had been finished in 70s fashion clashing bold colours in a coarse suede paint. Alan\'s team hand scraped the window frames back to a… sound surface and machine sanded all the rough suede finish to an acceptable smoothness prior to applying the quality paint I supplied.
I was impressed with his attention to detail in the preparation of the surface prior to painting.
I am the technical manager of a long established New Zealand owned Paint Manufacturer, so I know what constitutes good preparation as I constantly deal with the after effects of inadequate preparation. 100%"Alan & his team painted the exterior of out two storied house plus a connecting town house,, a large area in all. They were extremely professional, & punctual,keeping us up to date with proceedings.There was some extra plastering required on the house which was pointed out to us, other painters had just painted over this. Martin did an excellent job reparing this, managing to match up to the existing plaster.
We foung the whole team to be willing, polite & courtious at all times… & were very pleased with the finished result. Nothing was too much trouble to them & they made sure we were happy with everything

Alan is the man in charge and is good to deal with and doesn\'t just go around pricing jobs - he\'s on the job, working with his gang and communicating with the owner. His workes are… great, if not all that fluent in english but this just means not a lot of time is wasted on small talk.

He came and quoted the same day we called and he booked us in for the following weekend. A change in the weather meant he was able to come earlier than expected, which meant that the job was completed in less than 48 hours from time of quoting. Wish we had contacted him first!

100%"In 2008 we completed a full interior renovation of our house. Alan was plasterer and painter and completed a good job. The job and any outstanding issues were completed in a timely and effecitve manner. Alan was also great in being able to work to a varying time-table that was forced upon him due to delays in the building phase of the project. His planning and time management when faced with these delays allowed us to still move back into house before christmas.

100%"In March and September last year we had our kitchen and lounge renovated. Alan and his team were the painters and decorators. We were so impressed by their professionalism and attention to detail that we rehired them to paint the exterior of our house. Again we were very happy with their work.
Alan was unfailingly cheerful, courteous and polite, working around our household, which includes a disabled adult and several pets.. He was organised and reliable, communicated well, and planned well,… so that he met his deadlines. He was meticulous, asking us to have work done to damaged areas of the building before painting, so that he could achieve the best possible finish. We had no reason to doubt his integrity, being happy with his quotes and calculations of the costs.
