"I myself did not use the service but the mechanics there serviced my daughter and son-in-laws car. The car broke down when my son-in-law took was taking me to work that was March 2nd 2012 and the tow truck took the car to Standard Motors. The owner advised my son-in-law the car would be ready in a weeks time, which is was fine, a week later he advised my son-in-law that he needed a new motor and without asking him first he took the motor out and advised that it would be ready in another week, every week he promised that the car would be ready and when my son in law called and he even went there, car was not fixed, he even advised that the car would be ready and to pick up on Good Friday(April 6th 2012) which is a public holiday, and they were not open thats right the car has been in the garage for 5 weeks now and when my daughter went to pick it up the next day, the motor was fine but the radiator was leaking, so no taking the car. Finally it was ready on April 17 2012 nearly 2 months after it was first taken in, and it still doesnt sound good. My opinion is this person should not even be allowed to operate as an auto mechanic he does not have good working ethics, my daughter over heard the staff there saying \"thats what happens when you have 5 people working on a car\". The Mechanic has received $1000 so far and there is another $300 to ppay. He communicates very well when he wants his money paid. I would not recommend him to even fix my grandsona battery driven toy car"

"Came to standard motors for a WOF and replacement of front right shock. They performed illegal job repair and over tightening on tapered rear wheel bearings with a rattle gun . This caused the failure and over-pressurisation on the bearings. They did not communicate initial work and avoided all calls and contact. Further to this they refused to produce receipts for parts or details of any work. The mechanic Danny finally, when told that the AA callout mechanic confirmed the diagnoses, agreed to come and replace bearings. However after several no-shows and calls Danny never came to fix the work. That the work would have failed the WOF which was the main reason for the original appointment seems to be beyond Standard Motors comprehension. Further pursuing legal action."
