    "Highly disappointed. They were very efficient in getting the sale. They upped their original quote by $500, but when I baulked, they dropped it back $360. Then they were very efficient making sure they were paid. Fast invoices. But now, after Rinnai gas has been installed three weeks, it has failed completely. I rang the 0800 number and was assured that someone would contact me quickly, as it was urgent... and after 56 hours and counting, no contact! I'm going to have to get a real plumber in… to see what's wrong."

    "The brand new Rheem cylinder that was installed started leaking from the element very badly as soon as the water was turned on. Large amount of water spilled everywhere, including the insulation of the cylinder itself. The leaking element was tightened by the installer a couple hours later once they found the tool.
    The cylinder continued to leak from somewhere else for a couple of days, but stopped itself later on.

    There is no more leaking now but I'm unhappy with the fact that the… insulation was properly soaked, and therefore affects the energy efficiency of the cylinder. I paid $5000 for a brand new product, not a faulty product that was fixed, with worse energy efficiency.

    The response from Rheem and the Cylinder Guy is that "it will not affect the performance of the cylinder", and they offered nothing for the situation.    "

    ""Our re-roofing job had just begun and the roofer asked that I confirm that the vents on the roof were still required. We noted that one of the vents was for the hot water overflow and decided if we could, to upgrade our hot water cylinder before the new roof was put on. I contacted The Cylinder Guy (who turned out to be Craig) on Thursday the 19th Jan. and explained the situation mentioning that we were very short of time as we didn't want the people living upstairs to be without hot… water while the new roof was sorted. The following morning, Friday the 20th Jan, Craig had sent me the options available with estimates and we discussed the options over the phone. Monday the 23rd Jan was a public holiday and so installation and replacement was completed on Tuesday the 24th Jan. We were amazed that the best service you could ask for was provided and that the new cylinder was installed with less than 4 hours inconvenience to the tenants upstairs, and without causing any kind of delay to the roofers. I definitely recommend the Cylinder Guy without any hesitation. Craig is efficient, extremely effective and extremely pleasant to work with. Thank you!"

    "I know nothing about hot water cylinders. Thankfully, when I called The Cylinder Guy, I didn't have to worry about that at all. Dan talked through what I needed and spent quite some time walking me through the options that were available to me. My case wasn't quite as cut and dried as just replacing a cylinder - I am outfitting a building to cater to a dog groomer. I had been brushed off by plumbers (one still hasn't called me back!) and no-one seemed to care enough to help. Dan was excellent… and we came to a conclusion within a day or so. I will be highly recommending The Cylinder Guy to everyone in future - who were not only the best to deal with, but also the cheapest I found. Well done Cylinder Guy."

    "We rang looking for help to fix or replace our cylinder. No one else had responded to my calls over the last 24 hrs. Finally, Dan replied within 15 minutes. Very knowledgeable and helpful.
    I'm really pleased with the work the 2 guys did. They turned up on time, bought all the equipment with them and they didn't stop. They just worked right through. Did a good clean up job after they finished.

    "Woke up this morning to no hot water as our 28 cylinder had finally gone Kaput. Rang around to find an available tradesman and third time lucky got the lovely people at The Cylinder Guy. From the receptionist to the contact person Dan and to the installer we experienced nothing but professionalism, friendliness and competence. Contacted the firm at approx 7:45am and we were contacted by Dan at 8:00 who was able to give such knowledgeable advice over the phone and talk me through what was… possible with possible costs and timeframes included. We were able to make a decision based on our specific requirements and by 8:30am a plan was confirmed. Installer arrived earlier than expected at 10:30am and in the words of my husband "could have done the work blind folded", as he was so impressed by his knowledge and skill. Everything installed, working and tidied up by 1:30pm and HOT showers by 4:30pm. Would highly recommend this company to anyone."

    "These guys are great! Recently the old hot water cylinder in my home burst and flooded the basement room. What a hassle! Not a problem to the The Cylinder Guys. I remembered seeing their advertising on television and gave them a call. Spoke with Dan Hellyer, who was a pleasure to deal with and incredibly helpful. He guided me through the steps required to enable the repair job to be done, and that afternoon as promised, a new replacement hot water cylinder was delivered to my door. The next… morning Ryan arrived and promptly got on with the installation process. He too was friendly and pleasant to deal with and had the new cylinder up and running within a few hours, despite having to modify the plumbing to suit the new system. Ryan did a great job, even taking away the old cylinder and leaving the site nice and tidy. I found The Cylinder Guys to be friendly, efficient and prompt, and I have no hesitation rating them '10 out of 10'. I recommend these guys - they offer a great service!"

    "Contacted The Cylinder Guy about excessive hot water related electricity consumption from a cylinder purchased and installed by a local company (not the Cylinder Guy). Despite several visits from local plumbers, the issue was ongoing and remained undiagnosed. Got a fast response from Jason who talked through the potential causes and options with me and gave me direct contact details for two local professionals with the right expertise. Kenny from APV Plumbing came out the same day. He swiftly… identified, explained and resolved the problem, which was incorrect connection to the existing solar system when the cylinder was installed. Considering I hadn't even heard back from some companies I contacted I was really pleasantly surprised to have our leaking water cylinder replaced in just a couple of days after I confirmed my requirements.     "didn't plan the delivery of new cylinder to arrive on time and then Didn't install the equipment quoted for or have the "additional resources" onsite that was quoted for, very difficult to contact after the install to remedy install or amend quote. avoid these clowns! "

    "Hi Manuel, Sorry to hear you weren’t happy with us for your install. We had placed the order for the Hot Water Cylinder that we had scoped but unfortunately our supplier has been affected by stock shortages and so we supplied a HWC with a more powerful element to ensure you didn’t have a delay on installation. We also sourced the lower powered element and unfortunately delivery of this was delayed with our supplier. Instead we had the electrician setup your system for the more powerful element at no cost to you and, as per communication from Craig, there was no charge to you for the lower powered element either. Also when scoping, it was found a second person would be needed to get the job done in the normal timeframe but on the day we only had one person available which took a longer time to do the job but as you know we then reduced your invoice in this area by half. We do apologise for the communication around this as the salesperson was away when this was being installed and hadn’t been able to get you when he called you back, he then text you after hours that night when he arrived home. We always strive to provide an excellent experience for our customers and hope you understand that we did everything possible to achieve this for you. All the best from The Cylinder Guy Team. "

    "Out of concern, I tried to contact Dan to seek his professional advice on a new hot water cylinder installed by a plumber outside Dan's company. Dan was so willing to walk extra miles to explain the industry code and standard and even email me the document. He further helped look at the photo I sent him to assess the installation. He did this without charging a single dollar but maintain high professionalism and kindness. Great communicator. Highly impressed. Thanks Dan."

    "I touched base with Dan Hellyer from the cylinder guys about the issue we have with our current cylinder. He explained all the various options and costings to us and sent quote via email. Steve Meadows (The Plumber) came around to check out the job prior to actual installation to view any problems that they may face. I suggested that I would move out all the shelves in cupboard before date of work to give no restrictions on installation.
    Installation went a head with no issues. Steve and i… discussed the issue with how do we get the old cylinder out without spilling the rusty water over the carpet. Covered cylinder with 2 tarps and tape. moved cylinder down the stairs from the second level of house without spilling any rusty water anywhere. Steve completed the job within the time frame they had advised. Nothing was to much trouble even at the end where there was no power to switch (it was a problem with ripple relay in the meter in the end) they as in Stave and Dan were trying there best to touch base with an electrician. Steve stayed around to we were happy with the job .

    With our experience with these guys they are very professional in there approach, support and communications throughout the process HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.    "

    "Dan @ The Cylinder Guy was awesome to deal with; a great communicator. Only issue was a charge for unexpected extra work that was required. TCG paid half that charge, which was appreciated. Maybe properties need to be physically checked prior to providing a final price?
    Happy with the work done by David. He still needs to figure out a way to pipe the overflow water into the stormwater system; currently it’s running across the concrete path.     "

    "Disappointing experience. Had a conversion from low pressure to mains pressure cylinder.

    Didn’t turn up on the day scheduled, had to chase up Jason.
    Misquoted the install. Ended up being $700 ex gst more expensive. I wasn’t even called for warning about this - I received two amended invoices throughout the day while they were installing the cylinder. Apparently there is a lowest price guaranteed? But what’s the point if they don’t stick to the quote?
    The cylinder leaked twice!… Apparently this is common but we were not warned about it prior to install. After the first leak, you think you’d check the possibility of leaks elsewhere. It took a week for the water to start coming up under our kitchen floor boards. Finally fixed. Another $1000 to fix the leaks.

    Emailed Jason outlining disappointment and have had no response.    "

    "All aspects of the job were carried out exactly to the time line given. My installer was amazing and completed the job promptly even though we had a couple of laughs during the day. I work from home and he would let me know when he was going to make any noise which I really appreciated. Namo from the cylinder guy team was a gem and keep in touch with me throughout the process.     "The install was organised promptly by Jason; answering all my questions quickly and professionally. Hayden & his assistant arrived slightly early and cracked into the job. A little later i got a call to let me know the Electrician would be by to do his bit; which happened exactly as expected - not an hour later i got a call from the electrician saying everything was up and running. Seriously, everything was completed quickly, it looks really good and works perfectly.

    "Had cylinder replaced, water scolding hot, showers went from perfect to no pressure, 4 phone calls over 4 weeks, plumber eventually came back, no hot water for next 2 days, plumber turned off hot tap to house, I had to fix it myself.
    Would not recommend these clowns to anyone, I will never use them again.    "

    "Every once and a while we get an unreasonable customer that we just cannot please no matter how hard we try. In this case the customer claims to have called us after his installation to complain about the water temperature, which would ordinarily be a simple fix, but we have no record whatsoever of his calls even though he was given a direct dial to our plumber and sales person. After we eventually heard from him via the right channels and I apologised profusely for not having received his calls, our plumber went out to address the issue. After this second visit, David became very verbally abusive to our plumber, even though Steve (our plumber) was doing everything possible to help resolve the issue. Following this I rang David to say we would not tolerate his offensive language and that if he wanted us to continue helping him he would need to stop swearing and work with us rationally. Just before Steve was going to go out for the third time to help David (on the weekend), David told him he had already fixed the issue himself which suggests to me it was a pretty minor issue in the first place. After thousands of happy customers, I think anyone can read between the lines here that David is a classic 'Keyboard warrior' who prefers to rant and rave rather than work constructively through an issue, which is always our policy. I suggest all other tradespeople beware of working with this sort of unreasonable customer."

    "The cylinder guys sales rep is very dodgy. He didn't send anyone to quote the job first.He gave me a $3000 quote but when the tradies turned up on the day of the job , they told me that there was more electrical work to be done and also replacing the low pressure shower mixer. I paid a total of $4100! I was also quoted for 5 meters of pipework which was only 3 meter away from the cylinder.They also added $100 of extra pipework which I don't know what it is and when I asked the rep about this he… he got very defensive used very technical term to try to confuse me .It took over 3 weeks for the cylinder guy to remove the other cylinder .The plumbing company that carried out the job was very good but next time I will used them directly instead of going through the cylinder guy."

    "Hi Jonathan, I'm sorry to hear you had a bad experience with one of our guys. It is always our intention to provide our customers with the fastest response rate and sharpest pricing. To achieve this we will often price a job based on having replaced thousands of cylinders, the predictable nature of most jobs, and the information we're given by the customer. This just saves a lot of time and cost by not sending out a plumber who will often only tell us what our customer has been able to over the phone. It sounds like in your case however, we should've come out to look at the job first as it's very unusual to end up with such a huge variation in the final price. I can assure you there would not have been anything 'dodgy' about the service any of our reps would have provided you, but maybe we could've done a better job assessing what was needed upfront. If you would be willing to contact me directly, I am happy to discuss your concerns and come to an arrangement whereby we refund some of the charges you thought were over the top. Dealing with Craig from The Cylinder Guy was courteous and friendly, everything arrived on time when he said it would and the work carried out professionally and timely and advice from the Plumbers was very much appreciated...value for money.     "Our cylinder burst on Friday afternoon, 1st November. Our local plumber could not assist until Tuesday or Wednesday. The Cylinder Guy's faster reaction to our call for help was therefore much appreciated. Phil was outstanding. He'd driven from Auckland on the Saturday, arrived at our home in Hastings approx. 6.45 p.m. and went under the house, cut off the water to the cylinder, drained it and set everything up ready for installation on Monday morning. Sunday afternoon we got his emailed… invoice and terms of contract. He gave us his cell phone number and gave excellent service throughout the installation.

    However, my concern is with the financial constraints. On Sunday, we had 2 1/2 hours to come up with the deposit, or the Monday installation would not proceed. Further, if the deposit was paid, but the transaction was later cancelled, there was a $100 fee plus GST, also notice of debt collector charges and legal fees etc. If installation did proceed, full payment was expected on the the day of job completion. No 'please pay within 7 days' or any such period of grace. How many people, particularly old age pensioners coping with a situation stressful enough as it is, can stump up with 2-3 thousand dollars at a few hours notice?

    You wanted a genuine response and that's what i've given - first-class service, but

    intimidating financial time frame.    "

    "Hi John, as explained on the phone, we only have this tight payment policy due to a handful of folks who decide to order a new cylinder and then after it's been installed are unable to pay for it. It's very common now among the trades to ask for a deposit before starting and then the balance once it's done. In saying this, we are quite reasonable, and had you made a special request for a few days grace on the payment, we would've more than likely been accommodating. I appreciate your positive feedback about our 'first-class' service and apologise if you found our strict payment terms a little onerous. "

I contacted the cylinder guy company to see if they could help me with my water pressure issues and Craig called me back the same day with all the answers to my many questions. He made the whole process quick, communicated clearly and had Justin Dunbar (plumber) come and check out what could be done. Justin was awesome to work with, he was easy to talk to and made me feel completely comfortable about the upcoming job. We booked in for a… week later and he came and worked really hard to complete the job in one day! Matt the electrician was great too.     "i thought replacing my leaking cylinder would be a nightmare but this team made it easy for me. i enquired online and the following day Craig got a hold of me.We discussed a few things like measurements etc; he then gave me options to choose from. All i needed to do was to pick one.
    he organized both plumber and electrician to come and boom - job done just like that!
    Plumber guy Justin Dunbar ofcourse deserves credit aswell. he made it all looked easy. hes quick and his worksmanship is high… caliber/quality.highly recommend this guy too.

The Cylinder Guy was very quick to respond to our initial enquiry. Their quote was the best in terms of value for money which was great, but the reason we went with them was that their customer service was excellent. They went above and beyond to assist us, in particular Craig. Brett attended the installation. Very friendly and very knowledgable. The cylinder would just not fit so he personally went and sought out the new hwc. Workmanship was neat and tidy and very professional. On completion Brett scrubbed and cleaned up the area to my satisfaction.     "In the process of home improvements...doing up the bathroom, kitchen etc...talked about up grading our hot water system from upstairs in cupboard to outside. Saw ad on TV - for The Cylinder Guy, googled it, sent a query via email. Tony rang Hubby same day, answered his questions...sent the Manawatu representative from Semtex..within 24hrs we had a full quote..which we happily accepted.
    Nine days later..we now have an amazing outdoor Rheem system, supplying our hot water requirements. They… removed the old cylinder upstairs at the same time.

    We are both very happy with service from all parties involved from start to completion...fully recommend!!!    "

    Last week i had 3 quote from different plumber to see the cost of changing our 42 years old copper cylinder that was leaking. Out of 3 Phil from the cylinder guy did a great customer services. He was quick to arrange someone to come and look and do a quote for a gas cylinder option or a water tank. We had also two other quote from two plumbing well know but the cost was much more expensive but also no contact back before one week. So The cylinder guy were very into it.… Business and customer services was impressive and phil was always polite and professional. So Tony you need to look after Phil and Mike lol they are your gold ha ha ha.    "

    "So glad that I chose to go with The Cylinder Guys, as after 50 years service my Water Cylinder which was low pressure, just stopped working, so I contacted The Cylinder Guys, and they recommended going with a mains pressure which I did, with in 24 hours, my new cylinder was installed and operational the pressure I have from the mains pressure cylinder is the best I've ever known and ever had. I found the whole process from start to finish to be very friendly and helpful, 100% Guys. "

    "Our water cylinder died on the weekend (of course) after nearly 40 years service. Phoned Cylinder Guy who said they'd get back to me. They phoned first thing Monday and provided a prompt quite and confirmed the new installation for the Tuesday morning. Will arrived on time and after rechecking some measurements headed off and collected the new cylinders. Excellent, friendly service. Will very happy to explain parts of the process as he went along. Stayed and made final checks of the work done.… I am very happy to recommend The Cylinder Guy."

    "These guys were awesome to deal with. They were my third call after a google search immediately after hearing gushing coming from my ceiling where my hot water cylinder is and the only ones who could commit to being able to send someone straight over for a look. It was no more than 20 minutes after my first call that Kevin pulled up in my drive way. Within 5-10 minutes Kevin had turned off the supply to the old cylinder so that we could have the main back on so still access cold water,… quoted the price of a new cylinder and sorted where it was going to go. He was back the next day to install the new cylinder as agreed and everything seems to be going well so far. The old cylinder (30+ years old) was in the ceiling cavity and the new one needed to go outside. I'm not sure about value for money so I'm going to give them a 100% rating as it would be unfair for me to say otherwise not having had to buy and have a cylinder installed ever before and also not having any other business price up the work but the total all inclusive cost was $3,277.50 for them to drain/remove the old cylinder, source/purchase/install the new cylinder in a different location from the old one. Anyway, I'm happy with their work and service."

    "The service received warrants a lot higher percentage than 100. I first contacted The Cylinder Guy by their web page enquiry, and received a follow-up call from Craig in a very, very short space of time. This was Tuesday before 12am. The new cylinder was installed, compliance certified, and commissioned by 12am Wednesday. Mike (their Christchurch plumber/installer) was totally professional, friendly, and certainly knew his stuff. So, to summarise, 100% satisfaction for a five star service."

    But a little unfortunately, his guy used my vacuum cleaner to clean the wet carpet because I found the wet wool stuck inside and the tube in my vacuum cleaner was wet,

    "Dan at The Cylinder Guy made the whole process of replacing my old low pressure cylinder with a high pressure one so easy. He talked me through the process over the phone answering all my questions & explaining everything in detail. He gave me an estimated cost at that point which was confirmed when the plumber came round. Everything was up front - no hidden costs or surprises. The quote was also $2000 cheaper than another quote I had! The local plumber Steve from Steve Meadows… Plumbing in Tauranga did an excellent job and left everything clean & tidy. I wish I'd upgraded the system years ago and would definitely recommend The Cylinder Guy & Steve Meadows Plumbing."

    "WOW ... Cylinder one day and the power the next ... without hot-water for 36 hours. Email & phone calls to push to get it done. And I had to take a day off work to sort this out ... there goes my $85 for the day. I could have spent $2000 on locals to have this done or I could spend $2500 with the cylinder guy and have it done all in one go (apparently) ... all so I didn't have to leave work and Id have hot water.

    It stinks that i'm the one who lost here "

    "We were really impressed with how easy it was to work with Dan and his team. We requested a quote over the weekend, heard back from Dan on the Monday and had the new cylinder installed on the Thursday of the same week.
    We were a bit nervous about the installation as we both had to work so left instructions with my mother, however I received a call from the plumber when he was on the way to our job so I was able to give a full briefing.
    We got home to a really high quality job done and have… brilliant water pressure and lots of hot water!

The job was not straight forward as the door and framing needed to be removed to get the cylinder in the cupboard.     "We had a local plumber check out the job and give a quote. He gave us a tale of woe about old houses and new cylinders being difficult to fit and quoted around $3,000.     "I dealt with Dan at the Cylinder Guy. He was the first person to contact me regarding the job (I left messages with three companies). He was an excellent communicator, who listened to me as I explained the issue, discussed options, and arranged for a visit to provide a quote. The quote was very good when compared to other companies, and easy to understand. Dan was very knowledgeable, as when I called to discuss the quote, he provided some advice on different cylinder options (wetback, low… pressure, mains pressure). Upon accepting the job, it was completed within a few days. The tradesman (Dean) and electrician did a great job.

    "Our hot water cylinder developed a major leak and so I contacted The Cylinder Guy, Dan, and told him we needed a new one as soon as possible. He asked me what I was doing that afternoon because they had had a postponement of a job and had a spare time slot so we booked it in for that afternoon. The new cylinder was delivered that afternoon but it the installer couldn't make it that afternoon in the end. He came the next day and the first thing he noticed was that the new cylinder was too tall… for the space. He said he'd ring around and source another size cylinder but initially found that there were none in Wellington so thought he'd have to source one from Auckland which would have meant that we'd be without hot water over the weekend. The installer, Will, wasn't satisfied with the thought of not getting our new cylinder installed that day and getting our hot water back, so he kept trying and did manage to source another cylinder, which was promptly delivered and was installed. We had hot water again by about 7pm. I found their service very professional and very friendly and that they really did care whether we had hot water or not and said they'd try their very best to get it done as quickly as possible and they certainly lived up to that. We are 100% satisfied and it was a pleasure dealing with all involved. Also, we had had a previous quote from a plumber and The Cylinder Guy was quite a bit cheaper."

    "I selected Cylinder Guy based on other reviews and am thrilled that I did.
    Initially an answer service took my call and within half an hour I got a call back from Dan.
    I had done a bit of homework on Google and had a reasonable understanding of what I needed to do with my corroding / leaking water cylinder.
    After describing the condition and situation, Dan confirmed that repair was not an option and a new cylinder would be required. He provided an instant quote and worked with me for the… best day and time. He advised an invoice would be sent via email, with a back up text just in case email went to 'junk' and I missed it. 50% of cost to be paid prior to work beginning.

    Initial call Tuesday - work to be completed Fri.

    At the agreed time Dean the plumber arrived. He was very polite and professional and explained the process of replacement. Even the tricky job of getting my old cylinder out and down a step set of internal stairs was approached with good humour and care for my personal belongings. When the job was done he cleaned up and left the area immaculate.

    The electrician normally would arrive once all plumbing completed and while plumber there however an urgent job had delayed him and Dan rang and discussed this with me. It was no bother to me and another time, 4pm was locked in.

    At about 3.30 the electrician rang to say he was on his way but traffic was very congested ( prior to long weekend) and apologised if he arrived a little late. He arrived at 4.10pm which was outstanding. I did not catch his name but once again he was personable and professional and completed his tasks in a few minutes.

    The cylinder has been operation now for about 5 days and it is working well. While the cost is a chunk of money I would probably prefer to spend on something more fun my stress levels have been lowered considerably knowing it isn't going to flood or continually waste hot water.

    It was all the little considerate details that made using the Cylinder Guy a great decision. Without hesitation I recommend them. As a side note I live in the Auckland CBD so this may dictate who you deal with.    "

    "We wanted our low pressure cylinder replaced with a mains pressure cylinder so we could have luxurious high water pressure showers. One email to The Cyllinder Guy saying what we wanted and Chris phoned back quickly and gave us options. We chose the cylinder we wanted and he gave us a fixed quote which included the cylinder and installation, so there were no hidden surprises. Our new cylinder was delivered, Steve the plumber did an excellent job and we had the shower water pressure we had… wished for all within a week of first contacting The Cylinder Guy.     "We had a quote from The Cylinder Guy in March and had the job completed in April, not only did The Cylinder Guy send out an unregistered plumber to install my new cylinder but there were numerous faults with the installation.
    The Cylinder Guy got his unregistered plumber to attend the leak and was full of reasons as to why it was leaking due to the weather changing and then that the plumber was registered but not with the Plumbing Gas fitting Drain laying Board but another company.
    None of… these conversations were followed up with emails as requested so I called in another plumbing company at my expense. Lucky that I did as there was a safety valve missing under the house, no siesmic restraint and the drain pipe that would have dripped over my back steps and was a serious health hazard has now been done properly. We have complained to the Plumbing Gas Fitting Drain Laying Board and await there reply on how The Cylinder Guy who is not a registered plumber can send unregistered plumbers out to do such an important job, my cylinder is no longer a time bomb waiting to go off but a safe new addition to my home. The Cylinder guy is a cowboy who hires sales staff who can talk the talk but not walk the walk. Beware of this guy and my recommendation is that he cease trading until he can provide a safe installation of cylinders – how many other time bombs are in homes without customers knowing this information.    "

    "We appreciate all the feedback we receive on this site as the vast majority has been glowing appreciation of our service. Unfortunately, about once a year, we get a customer who seems intent on bringing our ratings down a peg with exaggerated and spiteful comments. While there is some truth here, it is also unduly scathing and unreasonable. There were some minor installation issues, which can happen, but instead of giving us the first chance at rectifying these, the customer decided to pay someone else. Our contract plumber in question had overlooked the renewal of his registration and this has now been rectified. We sincerely apologise for any of our shortfalls as we don't always get it 100% right, but our track record attests to the fact that we try really hard to provide the best cylinder installation service in the country and will continue doing so."

    "I am so impressed by The Cylinder Guy and especially Dan with whom I was in contact. He was incredibly helpful with deciding which cylinder size and model to change from Lo to High pressure. Darren Chatwin who installed the cylinder was brilliant in explaining all the bells and whistles that this new cylinder had and how it worked (to my advantage). He was efficient and cleaned up the site which was much appreciated. He also texted me 2 minutes after he was due to arrive to say that traffic was… bad and he would be late...this is the first time I have had a tradie do this without having to call after the 1st hour of waiting. Traffic in ChCh is horrendous so I totally understood. The whole process from contacting Dan at The Cylinder Guy thought to Darren installing the unit and the sparky signing off and advising he would email the compliance certificate was a dream of personable and efficient service. The install was seamless and they were even flexible to work in with the Electricians that we had on site who had to install a powerpoint for the Hot Water Cylinder at the same time.     "These guys were complete Cowboys. They gave us a quote, we booked the job in then they tried to increase the quote by $1200 because they hadn't scoped it properly. By that time we were waiting for the plumbers to turn up and the gas unit had already arrived. The did offer to refund us if we returned the gear but I was dubious, so pushed on. We agreed a lesser amount. The plumbers were good, but they never organised an electrician. After it was eventually done we had to endure several phone… calls and emails before they agreed to knock another $100 off, but it was still $600 more than they originally quoted us.

    All these guys do is organise the work to be done and I they don't do a very good job of that. For that they take a cut. They know how to have a website and run some ads to get you there. I would recommend ringing a local plumber instead - who is probably going to do the work anyway. Stay away.    "

    "These guys were brilliant. I found a leaky hot water cylinder on a Thursday morning. Rang and left a message at 9.25am. I got a call back within 10 minutes and two guys outside my house 90 mins later starting the job. 4 hrs later including expertly coordinated electrical, piping and cylinder delivery and removal, i had a new cylinder in place and starting to heat water again. Everything cleaned up and hot showers possible same night. All promises kept and invoicing clear and timely. I couldn't… have hoped for better. Absolutely recommend for worry free resolutions.     "Dan, I just wanted to thank you and your company for such a great job! When my hot water cylinder stopped working, I thought I was going to be in for a nightmare of repair and costs. Instead, you answered all my questions carefully and took all the time you could to make sure I knew what my choices were. Your communication personally put me at ease and I felt really confident that the job would be completed well.
    I was amazed that it was able to happen so quickly. Sadly, experiences with… tradespeople are not always great ones, but in this case it was!! Kevin was prompt, communicated well and the job just happened! What I thought was going to be messy and difficult was in fact nothing like that all. The electrician was equally prompt and efficient (I have emailed him with my thanks and feedback too). I was surprised too, to find that the total costs were nowhere near what I had imagined they might be.     "I highly recommend my cylinder guy, Chris Rankin, Ben the plumber and the sparky they used, they were all excellent, very friendly and professional. The work was done promptly and to a high standard. The payment option was the only hiccup, with a miscommunication from the 0800 center, but, Chris happily and quickly sorted that over the phone. When Ben the plumber caused a spark while drilling he organized the sparky to check the wiring at their cost. A necessary safety precaution which we… appreciate very much, causing a delay, but, only by a day. The sparky did an awesome job very tidy wiring. Ben returned and reconnected the water and made sure everything was perfect, he is a credit to himself and the business. Well Done!!! Thank you so much to you all."

    "We used The Cylinder Guy recently when our old hot water cylinder started leaking (installed 1965 so I found out when it came out). We found The Cylinder Guy very good with communication and advice. They were able to organise installation at a time that was suitable and the cylinder was delivered a few days prior to the installation. The plumber who did the installation Chris Renner was very good to deal with, showed up on time, was pleasant and tidy and explained everything.
    We went from a… low pressure system to a mains pressure system so there was a fair bit of work involved for Chris. The difference in hot water pressure is amazing and in the words of our 16 year old after his first shower with the new cylinder “That shower is AWESOME!” Now we just have trouble keeping him out of it!    "

    "Their service was outstanding and astounding.

    At 4:30 pm on Friday we realized that the hot water cylinder had “died”. I phoned The Cylinder Guy and spoke to Dan. He was most friendly and very understanding. He said he couldn’t get anyone to me today (Friday) but could probably get someone to me tomorrow, Saturday – are you kidding ? – I had expected to be told “Sorry, can’t do anything until Monday”.

    Not only did a new cylinder turn up on my doorstep on Saturday, but… this was followed by an Electrician and Plumber (plus his apprentice) who got to work immediately. They were friendly, well presented, and kept me up to date with what was being done all the time, even took a moment to have a chat with my dog ! When it was all complete, they cleaned up and took everything, including the old cylinder, away with them, leaving it so neat and tidy it was as though nothing had happened.

    The astounding part is that all this was done on a Saturday after a call at closing time on a Friday –the service was professional, friendly, well-priced – more or less what my friends and acquaintances had paid for a cylinder replacement, during the week.

    The Cylinder Guy has restored my faith in tradesmen – the norm is a sullen, angry person upset at having to work the weekend or being told to wait until Monday. I cannot recommend him and his happy crew highly enough – 100% Satisfied customer.    "

    "I emailed the Company and Chris Rankin replied promptly who was most helpful with all my questions. Spoke to me several times on the phone nothing was too much trouble. This happened over a long weekend.

    Chris Renner turned up on the Tuesday morning by then we decided we wanted to change the size of the cylinder which meant he had to take it back to the Company he had obtained it from and he change it. Did all this without any problem. His workmanship was 100% and would recommend this… Company to anyone in the same situation    "

The installation was booked and the job completed within 48 hours. The information about options and pricing was very transparent. Ryan arrived on time to do the installation and was really friendly and courteous. We were kept informed on progress throughout the day and everything was completed on time.     "I was very impressed with the knowledgeable conversation I had with Dan when I first rang to inquire about a new cylinder. No other plumbers we contacted were willing to quote us (think our solar water heating scared them). Took a while for me to get back to them but when I did they came promptly. The delivery man was professional and arrived when he said he would. The plumbers Kevin and Alex did a great job, and we are enjoying continuous hot water now.
    Would definitely recommend them.     "

    "Sorry to say, that communication between company and trades was poor and had to call them back to adjust scalding hot water at tap ( 70 deg. ) and decommission old leaking tank- tradesman a bit dark about being called back to finish job. workmanship was good standard though!

    "Our cylinder heater went and so I trawled the net for a repairer and found the Cylinder Man. Rang and was sent a quote/ invoice to accept so knew the cost prior which I liked. Next morning 2 very nice young men from Wenbourns arrived and replaced the heating unit promptly. I paid the account and there was follow up from the Cylinder Man to make sure I was satisfied with the job done. Nice dealing with such good professionals all round. Definitely recommend them "

    "I was very impressed with this company. I had a quote from another plumber, and the Cylinder Guy was over $500 cheaper. The Cylinder Guy explained my options and replaced the cylinder the very next day (it was after 4pm when I rang them)
    They took my old cylinder away, and were very tidy and polite. They turned up when they said they would. And the chap who droped off the replacement cylinder in advace was very sweet and made sure I shut the garage door as he was worried the new cylinder… may be taken.

    Hopefully I wont need them again, but I will definitely recommend them to others. If necessary, I would use them again.    "

    "I got in contact with Dan after getting a quote from another plumber to replace my hot water cylinder - his price came in just under my original quote, but included all new materials, valves etc which was important. The cylinder delivery was on time as promised, and job completed within the day for me to come home to restored hot water that evening.

    It's worth pointing out that Dan and Rob encountered several speedbumps for this install - having to switch out the original cylinder delivered… due to space constraints, working within a very tight space in an A frame roof, but I was kept in contact with the whole time with all changes etc. Naturally there was additional labour and cost involved, which Dan reasonably footed most of. Understandably not every job goes as smoothly as you want it to, and this was one of those jobs, but what you want is someone who keeps in contact with you as those challenges arise, which Dan and Rob certainly did. Thank you."

    "I rang Dan late on a Friday afternoon because we had been let down very badly by a plumber who had failed to turn up that day to replace our hot water cylinder. We were having new flooring in the kitchen laid on the Monday and since the hot water cylinder cupboard was in the kitchen the cylinder had to be drained and replaced before Monday. Dan went out of his way to help us. We had already decided on the type of cylinder we needed and he was able to find one for us and have it installed on the… Sunday without even having seen the property in advance. He kept in regular contact with us and we were thrilled to have the job done at such short notice. The final price was extremely reasonable and nearly $2000 less than the quote we had had from the plumber we originally planned to use, so we had a lucky escape. They also took care of all the electricals and clearly know their stuff - our house had old wiring and they needed to replace electrical switches and upgrade the power box, all of which was done with no fuss and at a very reasonable price. We had a couple of small niggles afterwards - the tradesman did not replace a cupboard door and the shower mixer needed to be fixed to get the flow of hot and cold water right - but Dan sorted these out very quickly and the main job was done to a high standard and in a very tight timeframe. I would have no hesitation in recommending this business."

    "Our gas heather started leaking badly and we ended up with no hot water, I checked the no cowboys website and after reading some reviews I called Dan at Cylinder guys and he sorted it strait out no messing and no fuss, he even dealt strait out with the landlady.

With a leaky hot water cylinder and my husband recovering from Cardiac surgery in Auckland hospital, I needed help.
